- Update: I've made 30 or so tweaks to my original video, to sand off some of the rough edges, as well as to clarify certain rules. Special thanks to David Cates, who provided cleaned-up sound files for my narration!
Original Description: Vindication is a gorgeous new board game from first time board game studio Orange Nebula that's just dripping with theme and interesting, intertwined mechanics. This is my first tutorial video, so please feel free to leave constructive criticism!
All art in the game is owned solely by Orange Nebula, LLC. All content, concepts, illustrations, sculptures, artwork, and designs are ©2018 Orange Nebula, LLC. I own absolutely nothing - nothing - in this video, other than the words that I'm speaking. :)

Great Video! Please consider that only movement is compulsory, the other three actions are optional! (Page 8: “you must move each turn, the other actions are optional”)
This was such a good walkthrough of the rules. Thank you! Other videos were either way too long or quite unclear. Now I'm ready for this nights Vindication!
Wow, thanks so much for saying this! Glad the vid helped prepare you for the game. Hope it went well!
Really great tutorial. I love that you got it all in under 15 min. This will help me get players to the table for this game. Thanks!
Please keep at it, we can never have enough high quality tutorials.
Just got Vindication and found your video to be the most helpful one out there. Thanks man!
Nice explanation, your pacing was perfect. Going to check if you’ve done the expansions 👍
Thanks for sharing. Well done. Just got the game (took awhile) and your video helped a lot in learning it.
Great introduction to the game man!
Great overview and production value! I haven't played in a while and you saved me from re-reading the whole rulebook!
there's no other comparable video out there explaining the rules (in such a short amount of time), well done! ;)
Bought this after Christmas and just got around to learning the rules a week ago. Didn’t have time to actually play, though, and I was doubting my memory of what I understood. Found this video, and it was a perfect, concise, no-overcomplications overview, exactly what I needed. Thanks!
Nice, man! Glad I was able to provide what you needed.
this was actually very well done. like others say i feel i can start a game now
First of all.. this video had to have taken a lot of work...
Second of all... my good man I wish you had videos on all the games I wanted to learn!
Thirdly, appreciate you!
Fourthly, this was SOOO concise and I really appreciate the mix of real play and snappy descriptions!
Wow, you are far too kind, sir! You're the best for leaving this comment! ^_^ Hope your Vindication game session goes/went well!
Great job. I watched another video just before that wasn't clear enough, and after watching this I don't feel the need to go over anything in the rulebook before starting to play. Really well structured.
This is really high quality, I hope to see more from you!
This was put together very well. You were the first video to pop up for me on how to learn Vindication and I feel your visuals and flow of the instructions were great. The background sounds were a nice touch too lol. Keep up the great work!
Great video! Clear and concise, and I really liked the example turn to showcase rules you explained.
Thanks very much, Sam!! The sample turn was one of the later additions, and it turned out to be a pretty essential part of the vid.
Your video is so well done. I wish that you would cover more board game in the future. Very well executed sir. Keep up the good work! I'm impressed!
Wow, thanks!! Glad you enjoyed it, and I hope it was helpful. :) I want to make additional similar videos, but life has my hands full right now. Hopefully someday!!
Great video! But the voice for "part one" and etc was terrible :)
Very well done, concise, clear and easy to follow. Thank you!
This was really good! I would love to see more game explanations. You did a really good job with your format, order of information, and depth of explanation. I especially liked the way you were able to answer the piddly details without overwhelming the viewer. Examples are: controlling a location. I wasn't sure if you could move separate from controlling, but you addressed it right away!
Top marks for being willing to go back and redo. That's what really makes things shine. Also, I don't mind if you left out a few things. This format is exactly what I want in a shorter video: hit all the important notes before I go read the rules. If I want a more through explanation then I'll watch a 30-60 minute video. You could absolutely find a niche if you made more videos like this! And I'd watch them.
Wow, thanks so much, Thutrian! What an amazing comment! I'm so glad that the information was conveyed in a helpful way for you! And I completely agree - generally, I like to show 10-15 min vids to people as teaching tools - any longer, and players just don't want to watch! My philosophy is, it's better to convey as many of the essentials as possible in logical, clear ways, and then leave the finer points to the game master to the explain, if they come up.
You've definitely encouraged me to start outlining and storyboarding another video (most likely for my favorite game of all time, Aeon's End, which doesn't have any vids even close to this length). Life and work are CRAZY at the moment, though, so I can't promise anything will come out anytime soon, though. But we'll see! Thanks again for the feedback and encouragement, man.
@@natefowler6277 What a good choice! I have been interested in Aeon's End, especially Legacy, but I haven't gotten around to playing or watching anything. You've got my sub, and I look forward to watching what you can do!
I completely understand about life being crazy. We just had our first baby! I'm hoping it won't take too long to get back into my own hobbies. If you do find time, I'd be happy to give you some feedback, even as you make the video! I'm no editor, but I have some writing experience.
You're very welcome for the encouragement. Even if it doesn't take off, it's worth spending time on the things you enjoy. Best of luck!
This was a great walk through - clear, concise and to the point. Thanks!
Like the instructions, very clear. The game show host voice between each section is not to my taste... putting it mildly. 🙂
Haha, I appreciate you putting it kindly, sir! Due to yours and others' feedback about the announcer voice (and everyone was very polite about it!), I'll potentially make a third version sometime and figure out another way to introduce each section that still "pops" but is less irritating! Thanks for the feedback - hope the video was helpful!
@@natefowler6277 I don't know, but it always made me laugh and reminded me of this fun little silly show called Unforgotten Realms.
I disagree about the voice! Yes it's a bit... amateur-ish, but I liked that it added some humor to the otherwise dry topic of rules. I say go all in! Add reverb, record separately, try a few takes and get the most professional-yet-cheesy voice you can do.
Is that Plankton?
I agree, while it is fun, it does at some point become a turnoff because it takes me out of what is going on. It feels out of place. The rest of the video is great though. Thanks for making them Nate.
Great video! I think I still need to play a few turns against myself to fully grasp it, but this video really lowers the barrier of entry for the game!
Hi Nate. I really dig your presentation style and organizing of the rules. Your spectacular shoutouts, I think at least, add a personal touch to the video that sets you apart from the rest so I personally would not lose that. The phases (of this already somewhat complicated game) are well structured, concisely explained and nicely supplemented with graphics. If I had any room for improvement, I'd say the video and graphics/scans could be higher in res (sorry, I'm a graphic designer so I get picky with these things). But that's small potatoes compared to the excellent and clean execution of your first instructional video. I hope more will follow!
Wow! Thank you so much for the high praise, man! I'm really glad you enjoyed it, and that you took the time to say so. I doubt very much that this will be my last board game tutorial - but it also will probably be a while until my next one, due to my personal availability and the time commitment involved. Thanks again for the feedback!
One of the best rules videos I have ever watched. WOW!
That's so awesome of you to say! Thanks very much! :)
@@natefowler6277 What more should I say to encourage you to make more?
@@bluewall5505 Haha, thank you! It definitely would be an honor to make more vids like this! To be completely honest, I've definitely wanted to, but unfortunately, life has been just overwhelming and full for me since the pandemic hit (and even before then, honestly!). I will certainly make at least one or two more at some point! :) But it just takes so much time that I usually don't have to give. But, there should at least be occassional, once-in-a-blue-moon vids on this channel! :)
Sick editing bro ❤
Very clearly presented. Well done
I really appreciate the kind comment! Glad you enjoyed
Excellent! Best rules explanation of Vindication I know of.
Fantastic tutorial, so clear and simple, hope you do many more man!
Great vid, great voice!
This was an awesome tutorial!
the "first-person" turn was clutch
This is excellent! Thanks for making this video!
Great tutorial 👍
why no more videos?
I'm confused. In the rules, it says at least one movement is required. It doesn't say this about the other two. So, MUST I take each of the actions, or can I use one move two activations, or one move and two visits in the same turn?
Very helpful video. Thank you!
One thing. You forgot to mention that player loses honor points if you abandon or lose a card
Agreed! This is a very important rule that I forgot to mention.
Great tutorial!
Great video, you could have made it clearer that you don't draw land tiles until you've finished your move instead of as soon as you pass an open space.
This was a very helpful video thank you.
Also can you visit a location and then move away from it?
Quite a good video, thanks.
great video!
Succinct and clear. Thank you.
Great Video, thanks for making it....Question can I use a companion as soon as i get them?
Very solid rules vid! Thanks!
Woo! Thanks so much!
You should see my first video 😂🙈
Screw the haters!!! The voice STAYS... Very nice job. I would have never guessed this was you first gamesplain.
Thanks, XHuntinatorX! Hope this vid was useful for you!
Great tutorial. I come back here once in a while to remind myself how to play. The only thing that grind my gears everytime are those useless and annoying shouts between each part. Beside that great video.
Excellent!
Awesome video, thanks for this!
This maybe the wrong place for this, but I have only played the game twice and I found that it ended really quickly and left us very unsatisfied. Has anyone else had this issue?
Same here, the end of the game kind of came too quickly, just as we were getting into it
Thanks it was very handy.
Excellent.
Good job!
Well done, you have my like and subscription
good video
Is this your only video? I don't see any more on your page.
The video is really good, especially considering is your first one. You have talent for explaining rules, but please, avoid doing the over-motivated scream you use in every change of chapter, it sounds awful.
My name is spelled with a C. :)
Good video but when you announce the 'parts' it is very annoying. And the changes in the volume throughout the video, makes it a bit frustrating when listening on public transport.
Ah… you one and only… shame
Too much strategy talk. I don’t want opinions I want rules, I want to form my own opinions based on the rules
I appreciate the critique! This is just generally how I like to teach - I like to give examples and insight about what some rules look like "within the game", just as a way to offer context and hopefully help the rules stick. But I get that my approach might not sit well with everyone; if I do another video, I'll have less strategy talk. ^_^
Great video except for the announcement of the sections. It was extremely loud and jarring and didn't fit whatsoever. I understand what you were trying to do, but for future review please leave that part out.
