As an editor myself I can only say that there are so many wonderful images, so many inspiring ideas, so much pace, enthusiasm and passion in this video that I feel like a thief to be able to enjoy it for a paltry and ridiculous fraction of its value! The great progress seen in your videos is incredible, Maya. At all levels, graphics and script. You are generous souls and that guarantees you a future full of magical moments. During Youth we are urged to fill the immense future with ambitions, when maturity arrives (so fast!) we realize that what we remember most fondly is the illusion we put into them, regardless of whether we achieve them or not. May the dreams of the future push you to live a present that fills your life! Thanks again for sharing. Fair winds
Few people these days use language that delights the senses but you are the exception. Combined with your exceptional skill and mastery as a videographer I cannot compliment you enough nor tell what pleasure you bring. Thanks
Maya: A huge part of the magic of these videos is your writing. The narration and philosophical musings help us be a part of your story. Keep dreaming and keep writing!
Damn you woman, you bought tears to my eyes! As a 55yr old sailor still wrestling with his dreams so much of what you said touched me. Agree with it all, waiting for my family to fly the nest so I can wipe the same things away. Brilliant. Lovely people.
I rarely watch sailing videos more than once, but I've watched this one 3 times so far, for the ambience. You've captured on video a literary short story out of a time I remember as if it were yesterday; I find it incredible that a woman so young knows and lives that era so well. You are not an anachronism, but the future of a past that was beautiful, simple, slower paced, and magnificently quieter - a time where our eyes were able to focus on a few words rather than ten thousand images. Goethe, of course, is correct, and you two are on the right journey which doesn't end, but begins anew each day. Thank you!
You're so artistic. I don't know any vlog that has such a literary and musical content. The wax and the seal echoes many classic movies, let's say, Barry Lyndon. Keep sailing, building and creating.
After a long time or maybe a decade, saw someone writing a letter, folding properly and gently putting inside an envelope. Enjoyed the episode...no words to praise...thanks🌹❤😊
Wasn't sure where this one was going, but can always count on Maya to take us on a dreamy adventure with that amazing smile and sense of joy she has. Another great one!
One of the most beautiful presentation I have seen. You brought tears to my eyes and for a 72 year old man, this is really special! I have watched since you got your first sailboat and love your poetry and presentation of your journey! We are all impacted by COVID-19 but you have made a lot of your travels and time. Love it!
Fair winds. Always something comfortable and warm about your videos. I feel nostalgic for a life I haven't lived yet. I hope to meet you on a distant shore some day! See you around.
That was amazing. Thank you Maya, for reminding us of our dreams, and how incredibly important they are, and why we had them in the first place. Particularly in times like this, when the present looks kinda gloomy and depressing. I think you nailed it. It's important to have dreams, and even more to hold on to them. I liked how you've pointed out so well, that our dreams of a possible future are such a vital part of our present existence. After all , that's what keeps us going. That's the wind in our sails. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the comment -- I'm so glad that you understood the essence of what I was trying to say here! Thank you for the wonderful summary and for watching. -Maya
Maya, you bring tears to an old man's eyes. But as you said, the best stories are the ones that make you feel strong emotions. So, they are good tears. Aladino, the romantic view of Maya writing the letter taken through the portlight with reflections of boat masts just waiting to be called to service was poetic. In your next adventure may you fare well.
I'm an old man, though in my youth enjoyed sailing adventures similar to what you two are experiencing (mine was 1976-1979 in the South Pacific). I'm super impressed by how creative you are, how "advanced" you are for your ages - both in skills and maturity - and make sure my own daughters watch your marvelous programs. Thank you so much for your efforts - they are appreciated!
Dears, sitting here in my tiny garden house on a canal in the centre of Amsterdam, I watch your video. Not even 2 minutes and 15 seconds seconds into the broadcast and after your masterful intro, I choke up and the melancholic mood covers me like a blanket when I hear your soothing voice again. You move me to the core and i thank you for it.
Not having dreams is like being dead. One doesn’t constantly need to be experiencing incredible adventures, but having dreams and working towards them when you can, is a must in my book. Hope your dreams will come true. All but one. Because it’s good to die while still having at least one dream left. Can’t wait to see you in Scandinavia. Would be a treat to bump into both of you.
The music is superb. The mood is perfect. The photography so skilled. The story... unfolding beautifully. Best 17 minutes of January so far. Many thanks.
I've watched you for a few years now and love that your so unique with your style, content and presentation. This really is a lovey sweet little episode that gives hope and inspiration to non sailors and sailors alike in these dark times.. All the best from another sailor.
Your videos are always inspirational. Of course, your choice of music is superb. I really appreciate that and believe it renders your channel the most professional offering on youtube. Looking forward to hearing about your secrete plans. All the best to you both.
Thank you so much for giving voice to my experience this week with dreaming and inspiration. I am lucky enough to live in Key West, FL, a 5x3 mile island 90 miles north of Cuba. My husband and I have been watching your channel since February and have fallen in love Magic Carpet. This was a hard week for us here in the US. Dreaming and directing my energy into art has been like a balm to my soul. Thank you for the excellent content. Thank you for sharing your dreams and thank you for sharing yourselves so generously. 💖🕊🌈✨⛵️
I paused the video at :55 seconds in and stared at the writing for a long time. You hit a profoundness in that statement that resonates to my very soul. I have spent most of my adult life trying to eke out a living, make it from paycheck to paycheck, and, at times, wondering if my contributions to life and, more importantly, to family were ever going to pay off. But like your statement, I had dreams. Those dreams took almost 30 years but today they are starting to become more real with each passing day. Like you, my dream is shared by someone important in my life; my wife. I still have more dreams, and I still have tomorrow to look forward to in realizing those dreams. This video, is powerful. Powerful. Your words are poetry and I am grateful to be a part of the journey in life you have undertaken. Thank you.
It's extremely rare to see legitimate inspiration and its effects play out in someone in real time. This was like watching a Wes Anderson movie... You are both good story tellers, in front of and behind the camera, and we are watching you become great story tellers. Pretty cool.
Thank you for the reminder to keep having dreams. In four months I am retiring and to be honest I was losing my dream to take off with my boat and float to other places. Your beautiful presentation of the wisom you found to keep dreams alive touches me and helps me to find my own back again. And yes it is more important to just quietly work on your dreams than rushing for the result. Also an old Zen saying, but so easy to forget. Again; thank you, what you do really matters. Bert Hasselt
What an incredible video. I'm in Oaxaca and we have no water and our pump got very hot yesterday. When my wife told me we had no water, I couldn't sleep so I had to get up at 3am to watch your video. It helped! You are such a great storyteller, not to mention, your editing abilities are off the charts, so to speak. We're seniors, and we still dream a lot, & your theme today really got me thinking, as I sit here in the early morning trying to solve the problems of not having water in our house today.
I always seem to go in waves of reading. It has always been my greatest love and during COVID I came back to her and read 35 books last year to keep to me sane. I've struggled with working towards future dreams as well, glad to know I'm not alone. Great vid as always!
I feel fortunate that I was able to for fill my dreams during my younger years, but now in my late 70's when looking back I experienced so much more than I ever wished for especially in oseas travel and I am left with wonderful memories here and there that are activated by your own journey on different occasions like Barcelona and my heart is filled with happiness once again, how lucky can I get...May you and Aldino's dreams materialise and flood you both with everlasting happiness....
The word that springs to mind when I watch your adventures is beauty. Two beautiful people on a beautiful boat, visiting beautiful places with beautiful music, words and images along with your beautiful hopes and dreams. I wish you every success in your future voyages wherever they may take you.
Your episodes are the hallmark movie of sailing videos. Each new one brighten my heart with anticipation. As you tell your story’s you bring us along like you writing in your diary. Thank you for your creative and heart felt weekly video letters❤️❤️
And to think there is a company that people pay to transcribe their email into a handwritten letter, that is placed in an enveloped and mailed. 100% truth. Maya, you are a breath of fresh air. This was your best yet. I see a bigger boat for far away voyages in your future. Dream on guys!
Sitting here in the mountains of North Carolina staring out at the snow covered forest and through your words transported back to my earlier years spent living and exploring on my own sailboat. Thank you for helping me continue to dream
What a class act! So thoughtful. So filled with aestetics, relaxed sailing, joy of the simple things, appetite for life and adventure. Positive vibes in a difficult time.Thank you for bringing us along. Fair winds and following seas!
A good dream is something to savour, a bad dream is something from which to learn. Your videography skills are well above those often observed on TV. Thank you so much.
The dream of a boat to call my own and the adventures that await has gotten me through the last very difficult year. Thank you for validating the dream and putting it in such poetic terms.
One of your best videos, I feel. Terrific special effect looking through the pages of a book, then off the bow. Very creative new format. All the best to you both!
Wow! That was extremely well done. You have outdone yourself. But I kept waiting for you to tell us what the super secret project is! Don't keep us hanging too long. Fair winds.
What a fantastic video, and story. Thank you. Books, dreams, are where I and we started as well...when my wife and I met at the marina where I kept my first little sailboat, we would read stories of sailors and cruisers to each other while snuggling together in the tiny little cabin; and in our tiny little apartment we shared, and on the long car rides to the coast to go sail. What great beginnings we have had. Thank you.
Hi Maya, You have left me speechless and intoxicated with the beauty and clarity of your mind. My thoughts are an echo of Edu, Wayne, Martina and Steve. Take care of each other and keep safe. The very best wishes for 2021. Niall
Wow. Your videos just get better and better, this video actually resparked our little fire inside for sailing again. Exquisite video editing and super chill sounds. Good job guys 💙💚💙💚👌
This reminded me of my high school days in the early '60s, when I was into calligraphy. Among other pens, I used a fountain pen that loaded ink from a bottle with a lever pushing on a bladder to suck it up into it. It had a wide split nib that allowed me to vary the width of the line with the angle of the nib. It also had some interchangeable screw-in points with different nib widths. I enjoyed writing in "italics" because it looked so nice. Never used them again since then and now my ball point pen cursive is barely legible. I had a whole set of Rapidograph pens that were more for drawing but I also used them for writing. They had to be held vertically for best ink flow. You could go pretty thin with those and they all used India Ink drawn from bottles. I did a few "scratch pen drawings" that were tedious but looked good. Neither was faster than anything and both were slower than everything, but the look was different and I liked it. I found all my stuff in boxes in the basement a few months ago. My new dream is to do it again. Here's a suggested addition to your reading list. It may not even classify as a book but more as a short story. It is a sailing adventure of a teenaged son and his father sailing an open fishing boat from Finland to Spitzbergen and on to Greenland near the end of the 17th century! It is available on line as a free digital text copy under its name - The Smokey God. Everyone but the Norwegian author views it as fiction. The beauty of the written work is that it allows everyone to decide for themselves based on the author's words.
What was your first impression of Holland? Our first impression while visiting our Dutch friends. We were tired from the long flight from San Francisco but I remember thinking "it looks like Disenyland. The small towns and villages were magical. We went there twice more and always enjoyed the day long bike trips on the beautiful paved bike roads (much nicer than paths). San Francisco Bay is the perfect sailing body of water so on your "round the world slowly tour", spend some time sailing "The Bay". Lots of fun racing on any Saturday. Thanks for allowing us to travel with you.
I stopped the reel at 4.45 to comment prior to watching the rest. Only this: Your letter writing intro was enchanting, like the start of a great novel. It impacted me. It made that true, profound point, that we must ignite our imaginations to dream of a better tomorrow. Now, for me, that is best done through the arts. Great literature. Great music. Great films. And when I think about it, this sailing adventure channel has all three. Thank you, Maya and Aladino!!
Wow! Simply wow! Your ability to be a poet, photographer, musician, and a sailor all in one is inspiring. We are a new sailing channel here in New Zealand and we both had tears in our eyes watching this episode. Thank you we are inspired much like you probably were reading the books you mentioned. ♡
Thank you, Maya! Your fresh and young optimism is a much welcomed respite from the craziness currently in the world a nd especially the US. Stay safe and stay well.
I like your films much. Just started watching it, but then paused it, to save the rest for a moment when dreaming will help to overcome what is heavy on the heart. Thank you so much
Excellent video as always. The meditation on the importance of dreams (and the chasing thereof) feels particularly poignant this year. Thank you for the bibliography, and I'd like to suggest the following in additional to Maya and Aladino's list: - Blue Water: Stories from a Life Afloat, Lindsay Wright -Sextant, David Barrie -Silk Sails: Women of Newfoundland and their Ships, Calvin D. Evans -Coasting, Jonathan Raban There's lots more I could list here as well, but this is supposed to be a comment, not a novel. I'd love to know what (sailing) books have inspired others! Thanks!
I spent the last few days preparing the routes to our sailing voyage, which is planned to start actually next year. While I was reading I remembered so many times of your wise words. Our dreams must live in our present. Those words gave me such an inspiration, hope and strength. More than telling a story know that you actually touch our lives often. Hope to meet you. And looking forward to know of your next dream.
Wow, just Wow! I sit here beside my stove; warm and spellbound whilst outside North Norfolk is cold, silent and so dark in Winters' grasp. Thank you for such a beautiful instalment.. M.
Wonderful concept, a story in a letter. Well written and well read. Our favorite quote : It always seems impossible. Until it's done....... Sail Safe Guys, Ant, Cid & the pooch crew.
Your voice a cantata your tone a sonata writing the story of your days. Pulling us to the lyrical expression of your journey. I look forward to each willing enthrallment. Journey safe...
How lovely. Just stumbled across you whilst we are in a short preventative lock down in Queensland Australia. Beautiful writing and filming. Now I’ll go back and see how you got here. What a lovely peaceful way to start my day. Thank you.
This episode, though a brief departure from the main adventure story line, is so revealing of the passion and artistry behind the content. I feel privileged that you have taken a moment to demonstrate again that special ability to combine thoughtful writing and beautiful images to make your audience feel something. And it was done in a way that feels so intimate and honest that the best way for me to honor it is to turn that same introspection back into my own life and dreams. Thank you.
Lovely, as ever. And nice to see the next generation enjoying handwritten leeters and stationery as much as I always have!! ❤️ (cow ropes, yeah, he‘s such a racer lol!!)
Take to the seas, you are well prepared. And continuously develop your dream, so that it never ends. All places in the world are amazing in their own way, there's no place not worth stopping by. Good luck!
I’ve watched this twice already. There is so much, words story quotes film clips cool view outside warm interior music so interwoven sometimes I was unaware of it until the voice grew quiet beautiful views lovely interaction between two gifted people and I’ve forgotten something. I’ll have to watch again.
Having said goodbye to my companion of 25 years, Flying Dutchman, a Pearson 26,, your wonderful stories are very welcome. I was hooked the moment I saw the Dutch ensign streaming from your backstay. When I started watching ‘North through the Continent’, I hoped you would spend a little time in Holland. Having a whole season is a Godsend. I am hoping that soon you will come to Den Helder My Great Grandfather taught navigation there. Tot Ziens
Fair winds
The absolute kindest comment -- thank you, thank you, thank you.
Your comment says exactly what I was thinking. the editing, the scripting, the artistic shooting is all excellent.
A video to be proud of.
So very, very, well said, Edu Flint.
Wow! Poetry
Maya, You continue to outdo yourself. You have every right to be proud of this episode. So inspiring, so well spoken and produced. Thank you!
Thank you SO much Wayne!
Damn you woman, you bought tears to my eyes! As a 55yr old sailor still wrestling with his dreams so much of what you said touched me. Agree with it all, waiting for my family to fly the nest so I can wipe the same things away. Brilliant. Lovely people.
You are a wonderful young woman. Your parents must be proud of you.
I rarely watch sailing videos more than once, but I've watched this one 3 times so far, for the ambience. Wasn't sure where this one was going, but can always count on Maya to take us on a dreamy adventure with that amazing smile and sense of joy she has. Another great one!
Beautiful. You're a poet and a storyteller. Was a pleasure to watch.
Whatch, and listen the music and thought. 1:39
One of the most beautiful presentation I have seen. You brought tears to my eyes and for a 72 year old man, this is really special! Maybe you question yourself in being a youtuber, while you actually want to be a writer.
But one thing you are for sure:
A Wonderful Storyteller
That was amazing. Thank you Maya, for reminding us of our dreams, and how incredibly important they are, and why we had them in the first place. I hope every person in the world watches this video and you young lady have a gift!!
The letter - what a great device for this episode.
Maya, you bring tears to an old man's eyes.
But as you said, the best stories are the ones
that make you feel strong emotions.
So, they are good tears.
Aladino, the romantic view of Maya writing the letter
taken through the portlight with reflections of boat masts
just waiting to be called to service was poetic.
In your next adventure may you fare well.
A minute and a half in, I'm thinking, very nice cinematography, really very nice.
I'm an old man, though in my youth enjoyed sailing adventures similar to what you two are experiencing (mine was 1976-1979 in the South Pacific). Maya, You are an amazing storyteller. Of all the sailing channels I watch yours is far and away my favorite. You touch the hearts of so many.

For someone who says "writing is her thing", your films are amazing. Thanks foe another grate one
I've watched you for a few years now and love that your so unique with your style, content and presentation.

Brave or Stupid is a wonderfully charismatic story. The story of Albatross and her crew is one I'll never forget.

Beautifull video. I love every shot! Lovely voiceover and music. Beautifull shots. Lovely comoposition!!!
Thank you for your wisdom spoken in beautiful words and images.
Thanks for reminding me that dreaming is still possible during COVID times. Inspirational video!
I'm so glad it spoke to you, thank you so much for commenting!

enjoyed this. Thank you Maya

your sailing adventures in 2021.
One of your best videos, I feel. Terrific special effect looking through the pages of a book, then off the bow. Very creative new format. All the best to you both!
This edit must have taken ages... What a great watch, thank you!
Thanks for the dreams, yes patiently waiting for the wind in the sails to fill again, but with hope and a dream, they will!
your writing and storytelling continue to be nearly beyond compare. If nothing else, truly wonderful.
Wow! That was extremely well done. You have outdone yourself. But I kept waiting for you to tell us what the super secret project is! Don't keep us hanging too long. Fair winds.

It is available on line as a free digital text copy under its name - The Smokey God. Everyone but the Norwegian author views it as fiction. The beauty of the written work is that it allows everyone to decide for themselves based on the author's words.
Maya; you are a wonderful story teller. This was a fantastic video to watch with dinner, in a marina, on a covid lockdown. Thank you
Thank you so much for watching Mitch, it sounds like you've got the perfect surroundings for it! Really appreciate your comment. -Maya
Wow! Completely blown away.
Best one yet, this video is really something special. Your adventures have helped me to cope with lockdown here in the UK.
Thankyou Maya. My Friday evening fix was especially good this week! D
Simplemente, grandioso e inspirador! Gracias.🙏🏽
Thanks for letting us share your dreams. You two are amazing!
Wow!
Thank you so much
Keep the story telling format. Its what keeps the dreams alive. And its so much better than the nitty gritty of endless boat repairs.
Beautiful story from a beautiful heart. You’ve brought tears to my eyes. You, young lady, area master storyteller.
Excellent video as always. The meditation on the importance of dreams (and the chasing thereof) feels particularly poignant this year.
Thank you for the bibliography, and I'd like to suggest the following in additional to Maya and Aladino's list:
- Blue Water: Stories from a Life Afloat, Lindsay Wright
-Sextant, David Barrie
-Silk Sails: Women of Newfoundland and their Ships, Calvin D. Evans
-Coasting, Jonathan Raban
There's lots more I could list here as well, but this is supposed to be a comment, not a novel.

The Long Way is a masterpiece! My favorite book ever.
Wonderful concept, a story in a letter. Well written and well read. Our favorite quote : It always seems impossible. Until it's done....... Sail Safe Guys, Ant, Cid & the pooch crew.
Very magical and inspiring. It's wonderful when dreams transpose themselves to reality.
Dream on...
Just watching this episode inspired me. Your videos have officially gone next level awesome. Keep living the dream. SB
Your voice a cantata your tone a sonata writing the story of your days.
Pulling us to the lyrical expression of your journey.
I look forward to each willing enthrallment.
Journey safe...
What a lovely video, I really enjoyed the style and I'm love that you keep the art of letter writing alive!
How lovely. Just stumbled across you whilst we are in a short preventative lock down in Queensland Australia. Beautiful writing and filming. Now I’ll go back and see how you got here. What a lovely peaceful way to start my day. Thank you.
You say the most beautiful words and your whole adventure is so amazing.Thank you 🌺🌺
This episode, though a brief departure from the main adventure story line, is so revealing of the passion and artistry behind the content.
(cow ropes, yeah, he‘s such a racer lol!!)
You have excelled yourself with this episode. Narration, and editing (which must have taken forever) must make this the best episode of all. Thanks
Take to the seas, you are well prepared. And continuously develop your dream, so that it never ends. All places in the world are amazing in their own way, there's no place not worth stopping by. Good luck!
Hard to explain how thrilling it is to have someone listening/quoting Alan Watts....kudos to this Bohdisattva on a boat!
I saw that coil of line on the deck @ 6:30 and thought oh no, this can't be Magic Carpet!
Great video, keep up the good work.
JIM
Hahaha, you're right, it wasn't!
Wow! Great! Inspiring! Can't wait to read one of those books .... again! Can't wait to go sailing again!
I am hoping that soon you will come to Den Helder
My Great Grandfather taught navigation there. Tot Ziens
Howard Wittwer, Lyndoch down under.
Beautiful thoughts and words of wisdom.
