Thanks for sharing this video! I'm debating about joining the hobby and I've had a suggestion to consider the Traxxas Rustler. I think I'll start with drives in parking lots or a field nearby once I get confident. Lots to learn!

@@fullthrottleobsessions I picked up the xmaxx and of course the ezrun max6 and the metal servo...really nice and strong rc but with bad electronics from what I have seen from other people

I couldnt see paying $1000 for an x. So I got the rustler 4x4 vxl. Now a month later I have about 5 traxxas parts on my 4x4 wondering how I spent 1000 on it. Could have got the max just as easy.
Right!!! I feel your pain brotha parts are expensive but I have to say these are two of my favorite trucks. I always say the Rustler 4x4 handles like a mini xmaxx so it's not a bad choice at all

I have em both and honestly the rustler is more fun. Ive had my xmaxx a while and its a bit of a money pit. Rustler got upgraded shocks and driveshafts and its darn near bulletproof. The little guy is a surprise to anyone who tries it
Right on buddy I hear ya on that one I was definitely surprised on how well the Rustler 4x4 handled and how tough it is for such a small truck, I always compare it to the xmaxx it's like a mini me lol. Iv had really good luck with my Xmaxx so far but I dont wanna speak too soon because i know it's not a cheap RC to fix

and another sub. i also have a rustler 4x4 vxl and an X Maxx(orange). Also my spoiler on the rustler is almost vertical. Did i see it correct and are those still the standard tallons on the Rustler? I have Trenchers and they are realy great. What i also did is highten the suspension a bit so it doesnt bottom out so fast............great combo if you ask me.
Right on buddy thanks for the support, yeah it defanatly doesn't take long to tweak out the spoiler on these, I am still running the stock tires they have been good so far but I've been thinking of picking up some trenchers here soon, I'd like to run them on my monster slash aswell
My sons and I are new to the RC world. We just got a new Rustler 4x4 and are considering upgrading to a brushless system and LiPo battery. What is the preferred charger you use for the Vant batteries.
Congratulations on your new RC the Rustler 4x4 is a great choice, I like to keep things simple so I charge my smaller vant lipos with the Traxxas Ez peak dual charger. You'll definitely love brushless, What system are you going to go with?

This rustler dose have TSM bud, I'm not sure what those 100mph guys are running but that's awesome to be getting that much speed out of these trucks man
Which one is faster out of the 2 debating getting a xmaxx have a rustler 4x4 vxl currently.
Traxxas claims The Rustler 4x4 vxl does 65 mph out of the box and the xmaxx dose 50mph but the xmaxx is a beast with those dual 4s batteries the xmaxx is a monster especially off the line and one of the most rugged trucks that iv ever owned it just takes a beating and keeps on going

One question, what pinion tooth are you running on the rustler? I am thinking about switching to the 13t pinion, but I’m skeptical about it overheating. I do have a heat sink/fan on the motor and the Traxxas ESC fan. What do you think?
I'm running the stock gearing on my Rustler, to be honest it seems to work out perfact on the terrain I'm running it on so it really hasn't crossed my mind on regearing it. My advice is to pick up a thermometer when testing different ratios to ensure when you find the right gearing it's not raising your temps to high

I run a 13t pinion in mine, only time i overheat is after trying to use the auto flip feature. i have the powerhobby esc and motor fan. I just pick up the rustler and swing it in the air for a sec and its back to business

Right!!!! These are my top two favorite trucks in my collection, the rustler 4x4 just feels like a mini xmaxx and is a blast to drive I love the way it handles and a huge plus is the backflips that can be done with this little beast

I have an xmaxx and a rustler 4x4 and you would think that the xmaxx would be my favorite. It is until some 3 dollar part 15 screws in decides to break while running half throttle on smooth grass. So thats why my rustler is becoming my favorite of the two. Now i admit my xmaxx is a year old and some of the stock plastic is starting to wear out, but still when does it end. I beat the snot out of my slash that ive had a year and its only cost me about 40 bucks in parts and the most expensive parts werent even needed. The xmaxx is definatly a crowd pleaser but youll need to be happy wrenching.

Hey there, my 9 yr old son just fell in love with high performing RC cars. I will be buying him one for Christmas...we live in Arizona...my friend recommends the Rustler 4x4 but after watching your videos and some other ones it seems like it would be for a more advanced level. I like the Xmaxx for him in a way that it seems like the speed will not keep it flipping, clearance is better and terrain absorption seems to be much better. What are your thoughts?

@@yz125ryder you are right...at the time that i wrote the question i did not know the size of it...way too big for him and dangerous should he crash it on to someone's leg. Perhaps the maxx would be a better size for him.

The new maxx would be an excellent choice for your son, however if you did choose to pick him up an XMaxx though not ideal you can always put the truck in training mode and it'll slow those speeds way down to a more manageable level
@@fullthrottleobsessions Thank you, I got him the maxx and he loved it...i crashed it on to a wall and destroyed the fron end and got it repaired and my son loves it again. That thing is a beast! My son is still driving it in training mode...as i should as well.

Should i get a rustler vxl 4x4, hoss or a maxx as a first rc car? The xmaxx will be my second purchase after a couple of years :)
Honestly man I'd go with the Maxx personally but if its a little out of the budget I'd go with the rustler 4x4 as my second choice

What type of batteries are you using
Im using the Traxxas 4s 6700mah packs for the X-Maxx and a vant 4200mah 3s battery pack in the Rustler
How long is the 6700 battery lasting you on your Xmaxx
It really depends on how hard I'm driving it but I would say on average it lasts about 20 minutes or so
that thing looks like it's just so uncontrollable and so unpredictable what it's going to do
Not really bud these too trucks are two of the best handling RCs that I own, it's really just the driver out having some fun lol

Its pretty much stock for the most part aside from aftermarket tie rods and aluminum shocks

@@boogerglob1234 it really dose bud this is an awesome truck straight from the box, I kept the gearing stock on it so far, I feel Traxxas really geared it to do well on pretty much any surface
Traxsas xmax is faster than traxxsas ruster
