This C7 stuff is awesome! All of the drivers have cast baskets, even the tweeters. This should sound legendary! All the work you put in sound deadening and wire wise, there should be no need or problems. Can’t wait to hear it!👍🏻😊😁

I love that router table. The height adjustment is simple and accurate. Great work! I'd like to see you do an install of speakers which cannot use the adapter type you show and the door itself needs to be trimmed. I need to trim my speaker openings on my doors as my new Orion XTR69.3 coax speakers don't fit flush into the openings. The basket is large and contacts the edges.

I bought four really nice Orion 6.5s mid range speakers for my equinox, I used crutch field for the size, depth, etc. I took them to 3 different shops here in Vegas & I couldn't get anyone to make new adapters since the speakers were just a little too deep. I even gave some suggestions as to how they could mount them but then it just turned into the shops guessing and quoting me some ridiculous prices. I wish I could've gotten a hold of you, you make it look so easy plus your work looks so good. Great video

I’ve been at this for too long man... my speaker screw mounts are on the inside
And I’m dumb for taking on turning the 6” to a 6.5”
In a Honda prelude... ehh I’m gonna keep trying
Thanks for all your help tho

Where do you find the PVC board? The only stuff I can find is either trim or small pieces that are no bigger than like 12" x 15"

My local supply store sells 4x8 smooth sheets and 1x4 up to 1x12 wood grain/smooth boards in 16'. Lowes probably has the 1x stuff. It's used for "wood" trim on house exteriors.

Thanks for all you do. I’ve been following for a while. Currently doing sound deadening material in my truck. There are two vents behind the rear seats. Should I put some foam over/around them to dampen the road noise and flappy noise that comes from them? I only noticed the noise when driving around without the seats.

I don't suppose you remember what the mounting depth is on this Equinox? I have some Metra 82-3307 mounting rings but I don't know how much room there is in the door. These Metra rings are exactly 1-1/4" deep. How deep was your solution?

So I have a conundrum. My vehicle (a 94 Nissan D21) has INCREDIBLY shallow mounts. I obviously need spacers to off set this but the speakers I picked are amazing lookin and I want the grills on the outside of the door panel. How can I add the spacers to support the speaker but also make sure its out far enough to have the grill on the exterior of the door panel.

I do not always fully understand Crutchfield's fitment guidelines. They said 6.5" woofers would not fit in the wonderful VW GTI (stock is 5.25"). That is true I guess, with no modification whatsoever, but with the very clean CDT FM-007 mount, that was literally all that was required. I do not really consider that to be in the "will not fit" category. I do consider Crutchfield awesome, and they have some experts who give tremendous guidance, it just seems to me they must have a reason they give verrrry cautious fitment advice.

What's the advantage of moving the speaker further into the door cavity
And why PVC and not MDF?

    • @CycloneCyd
      @CycloneCyd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@thedog556 But he's not moving it away from the door! The custom mount is shallower than the original, so therefore the speaker is moved further into the door cavity.

I did this for my vehicle, but now the door panels wont fit, because the speaker goes too far inward towards the cabin of the car. Fix one problem, create another in my case lol. I'll probably end up making a hole in the door panel, and somehow make it look good, wish me luck. Any advice would be appreciated

i ran into this issue with my mustang door speakers...i had to adapt the 5x7 hole in the door to a 6" round speaker. putting an adapter on interfered with the installation of the door panel. making clearance on the door panel didn't work, so i had to remove the adapter. now i gave a gap from a round speaker in an oval hole that i will have to address

    hey guys.
I have a 2020 Corolla with JBL Sound Option.
Sadly it does not has a Subwoofer and I want to add some Punch.
The JBL system takes alot of base out at higher volumes. Where and how can I get a clean signal for a 25" sub? to get some base at higher volumes? It feels kinda Janky just to splice it into the front speakers.

Nope, I made a build series using "budget" tools an no one watched it. Never again. People want to see the best way to do things. If you want budget there are 100,000 videos with very poor results you can watch. The goal here is to master car audio. Not do things as cheap as possible.
