Based upon what you said during your video you missed the dev response that said they are working on static server meshing and dynamic server meshing together, in tandem. I also get the impression that you haven't really understood the difference between static server meshing and dynamic server meshing. Here is the rule that makes it clear: the game space is made up of point coordinates in game space X, Y and Z. Only 1 game server in a mesh can have authority over that coordinate in game space at any time, which means only that server can have authority to change the state of any entity occupying that coordinate in game space. Other game servers that don't have authority over that particular coordinate in game space can view the entity at that coordinate, but they can't change it's state. With static server meshing the coordinate points for a fixed volume of game space are set and fixed when the game server spins up, the authority over those game space coordinates cannot be changed (or transferred to another game server) while that game server is running. Static server meshing can allow for massive fleet battles, they can spin up a statically meshed server with a game space as small as a ship or as large as the whole game universe. So for example if 100 ships all converge on a volume of game space a game server with boundaries of authority over that game space can be spun up, all the players and ships are then transferred to that game server in the static mesh on a shard. A static boundary of authority game server cannot change it's boundary of authority over a fixed volume of game space while it is running, this a a limitation of the game server build code. Because only 1 game server on a shard can have authority over a fixed volume of play space, any game servers that also had a portion of that game space adjoining where the fleet battle takes place on the newly spun game server have to be spun down and a new volume of game space allocated to any game servers now replacing those game servers in the mesh. It is not as efficient because it involves a lot of spinning up and spinning down of game servers (to change their game space volume parameters) and transferring of players between game servers. Static Server Meshing also has the downside that some game servers will be virtually empty of players. With a static mesh the game server to player ratio is not so efficient. 'Dynamic' refers to the boundary of authority of a game server over a set volume of game space. With static server meshing the borders are fixed - hence static once the game server is running. The technology they have to develop is to allow the boundaries of authority to change while the game servers are running that allows transfer of authority over game space coordinates between running game servers in the mesh. With Dynamic Server Meshing the boundaries of authority are not fixed, they can shrink or expand to accommodate any sized volume of game space. So now there is no need to spin up and spin down servers, and transfer players because the volume of game space on a running game server is flexible, it can shrink or expand to account for player movement around the game space - hence it is much more efficient than static volume, fixed boundary of authority game space game servers. The volume of game space is tailored to where the players are, dynamically, while the game server is kept running, this means there is much less likelihood of game servers having low player counts on them. With dynamically meshed game servers the player to game server ratio is now much more efficient. Static Server Meshing is no less capable than Dynamic Server Meshing at allowing in game behaviours, anything you can do in a dynamic server mesh you can do in a static server mesh, it's just that dynamic server meshing will do it far more efficiently.
The 4.0 AI are scary as shit! I'm getting flanked in gun fights, they use more grenades and one took me down with a melee attack so don't get close to them.

@piledrive I tried, it wouldn't let me exit the bedroom as the tutorial interactions where in a room a floor or two under the one I was in... So i had to quit and just 'start' cold turkey without tutorial.

Geez, if the dev's are that slow at getting things done, why don't they just get AI to do it for them? In other words fire the dev's and hire AI to get the game completed. Its that simple.
@@darkfalconsteele170 AI isnt terrible for completing repetitive tasks. but a lot of starcitizen's development is innovation, new technology which even rockstar has been trying to dip their toes into. it represents the future of seamless high quality mmo's and asking an ai to get that done is like asking a trained rat to code for you
@@proon. I would rather a trained rat at least get something done. Plus AI is on a whole new level.. With the help of AI, StarCitizen can become its own eco system. I think it would be cool that inside those servers that world they are trying to create became alive. Imagine scenarios coming up as you play but by itself. Not just what the dev's put in to it. Actually have AI come up with alien species, different situations depending where you go and how you as a player get there to where you are going. Imagine an adventure with in an adventure. Smuggling runs getting intercepted by space cartels, stuff like that. Right now, its just what the dev's put in to it and that's it. I don't know about you, but to me that can get boring real quick. I would rather have a space game immerse me in to different adventures with in an adventure. Kind of like a way to have AI to interpret your playing level and then create different scenarios as you play the game. Like you are on a mission you took as a delivery, but then a Phantom ship intercepts you and tries to take you out. Lets say it takes your cargo instead, and puts you in to a situation to where you have to get it back, but its in a different system with different threats you have to face. Kind of like that but as the player reaches different heights in the game. Remember a game called FreeLancer? That was an awesome game, but after the game ends it got boring. There was nothing more to it after that. Yeah they built mods and stuff like that for it, but it still got boring.
@@Robustiusyes Actually I'm not. I uninstalled Star Citizen a long time ago. Just wish they would have finished the game. Just putting ideas out there of what SC could have been maybe. BIG MAYBE BTW lol
Can someone explain this to me: Why can’t they implement server meshing with existing player counts? Why push player counts if it’s going to keep the performance at dog water half the time? If the current static server meshing can be implemented on 100-150 player servers, wouldn’t that take the current level of performance to a better state? Or am I misunderstanding how this can help server performance? It just seems like when you get a salary increase and immediately buy a house so now you’re eating ramen again
1. Testing / testing under load is showing the devs the bottlenecks more clearly so they can fix/improve the code. 2. Servers cost money, the less servers the more players the better. 3. Goal is dynamic server meshing and allowing hundreds / thousands of players in the same world which makes the experience obviously better (hence "1." is needed). All that said, in current days (aka next few years) I also prefer joining little populated servers to enjoy a high tickrate, smoother game play and way less bugs and annoyance.
We all know we can trust cig to release patches that are not ready to be released. I want the game to succeed and be a huge success, but the last 3 years have been rough. The pre-release also feels that are trying to make the game too immersive and complicated and time consuming.
IMO, running 2 branches in parallel is the best of a bad situation. The state of the patch is whatever it is, which is somewhat disappointing. Retrospectively, despite the sky-high expectations that CIG set last year, it's hard to say that it's been another completely lackluster 12 months (even if it is all coming years later).

I just want the choice to spawn in the hangar, for me the gameplay has never been amazing it's always about the journey and immersion for star citizen and I really hope they don't move away from that too much
It's a temporary solution for two reasons: 1) to get around some broken elevators, and 2) due to the influx of people playing now due to server meshing, a lot of times there are not enough habs available, which could result in players being stuck in infinite loading screens. So loading into hangars is the temporary workaround for that. When base building and persistent habs are added, then players will spawn back in their intended locations.
i really like this game but everytime i try to do bounty missions the npcs just dont fucking die and its extremely frustrating. or other random shit just doesnt work. super fucking annoying
I am kinda losing the intrest in the game. I bought it, play for some days, and it was really fun! But after that, i would die not knowing the reason, and taking 15~20 minutes to get back on my feet was very sad... Or going to jail because i made a mistake. Simples things like traveling were so good, but the other part of the game really turned me off... And i know they are making a massive progress, but waiting years to have a feature that was promised years ago is not the best thing... Even more when they are making massive ships that are sold for real money. They made so much money, and the project seen to be so slow
i will verify this in 20 min, while only 5gb left of the 4.0 preview just now installing.. but from my last 3 days testing in eptu... i thinks it was running smooth.. if this stays this way in the preview.. its ian improvement over the 3.24 stable

And while performance is indeed a lot improved, there's still serious issues going on. For example the orbital quantum jump points (stations and OM markers) being way off. Best case leading to +15 mins slow travel, worst case crashing us on planets/moons.
If it goes live it will be tonight or tomorrow. They go on xmass break from the 21st till the 6th
@ Bro, you’re already too late. They just posted on their webpage. 4.0 is going live before christmas and 3.24.3 is also staying live in parallel.
@@asheliagaming You’re right, but issues can be categorized with severity levels. Blockers prevent the game from being playable, bugs like you described can still go to live and fixed later.
could you upload 4k screenshots of pyro somewhere?
crazy how you dropped this 2 hours before the half release
Should be going live around 2 AM UK time.. lets go you dirty hobos! :D

Have you ever thought about a 21:9 monitor? It's a game changer for Star Citizen but still not too wide for videos...
I'm getting flanked in gun fights, they use more grenades and one took me down with a melee attack so don't get close to them.
i got flanked twice as well. jump scared both times 🤣
@irishvirusgaming7373 they are scary now
LOVE it...need to earn those pyro rifles and armor
is it me, or does 0:07 look like someone traced over Diamond City market from Fallout 4 and made it darker and grittier?
bro the servers are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
And lol bro the 4.0 right now is WAYYYY better than the live version.. hands down!
I keep logging in, not working out how to fly, or warp to anything. Then quitting as it runs awful on my rig... If they can make that easier to work out would help!
do the in game tutorial....
@piledrive I tried, it wouldn't let me exit the bedroom as the tutorial interactions where in a room a floor or two under the one I was in... So i had to quit and just 'start' cold turkey without tutorial.
Why there is no character animation while running like in other fps games?
What you mean?
@@PrasathMGM Got a timestamp or something? Still don't really understand what kind of animation you're missing. There's no "tactical sprint" at least. If you run it will 'lower' the gun as in any other games.

@@Billy-bc8pk haha.. kaput... dint know, english speaking people also use german word "Kaputt"... meaning broken, so its the same..
Encouraging to hear this, but I won’t be back in the game until it is stable and I don’t feel like I am wasting the precious little free time that I have.
There was an update today and it effectively killed my ability to access the game after only an hour of 4.0
What about new gameplay loops?
Lacking their little trailer for 4.0 keeps highlighting salvaging, mining, trading(delivery) lmao its so tiring
Add proximity chat would be cool in pyro on ground see if people are friendly or not they might give you a gift or some lead
I bought my first Sata SSD for Star Citizen about a decade ago.
I waited this long, I can wait another couple of years.
Its a scam
You guys are being scammed
@@Robustiusyes Actually I'm not. I uninstalled Star Citizen a long time ago. Just wish they would have finished the game. Just putting ideas out there of what SC could have been maybe. BIG MAYBE BTW lol
Can someone explain this to me:
Why can’t they implement server meshing with existing player counts?
How can it possibly live up to the hype in my mind on full release? Woe is me, but I still have hope. I've spent 1k, but I never play it because as a solo, it...well, isnt ready. I am watching and waiting, from a distance though. Hope 4.0 is smooth for you guys.

This is a good choice to hold 4.0 back to ensure a smooth launch. There will only ever be 1 4.0 launch.
It's launching to live in a couple of hours.
Launching 4.0 right before an extended break = Testing in Production.
Waiting for 4.0.1
I don‘t care when. I just want playable updates from time to time.
Common LevelCap. Why are you using fake B roll footage? There where not a npc shouting "Noodles. Who wants noodles?". We can clearly see this is not pyro.
Server meshing is a moderate success so far. When it releases to live and the flood of players comes in it will most likely be a dumpster fire for awhile. At least they’re going to walk back master modes……Soon.
Nope, they're reinforcing master modes. SCM is permanent and they're replacing NAV mode with QT Boosting.
Great update, Cap! Thanks for posting!
I do not understand why people are having trouble running the game. I'm running an 6 year old Geforce 1080 laptop with 32ram and it runs great!
i have 64 gb of ram and a 5700xt and its running like shit.. sadly
Your GPU doesnt matter much really as long as it has 10 gb or vram.
You need a good CPU to run SC installed on an ssd.
@@sayalec4922ye thats because your GPU only has 8gb of vram. AMD cards in particular need atleast 12gb to run star citizen without problems, simply because AMD vram isnt as solid as nvidia's vram utlisation. NVIDIA cards can get away with 8gb but honestly 10gb is the best spot for nvidia. I personally use a 7800xt which gives a solid 16gb vram, but the real power comes from the 7800x3d. You dont NEED a 7800x3d to run SC, but something with a lot of cache like a cheaper 9700x would be great. Intel is ass.
What storage and processor do you use?

@OopseaDoopsea ....it was a joke lol
I guess we will have GTA 6 before Star Citizen
Yep. been first time in teh eptu 4 days now.. and its realy huge... never the less. i am family father the only one earning money, so my time to be in is smal, and i dont have time to be part of some orgs or so... and i rather dont like pvp so much, but the size , beautiy and exploration.. So only glitch for me is, that the game in pyro is a bit to much leveled to pvp, so some dudes, have allready killed me randomly even when just leaving stations.. this in balance could destroy the accesivility of a very big and i think biggest part of SC backers.. if they dont get any technic to balance this a bit more to exploration and transport and so on.. these kids, could destroy backer support..
ahead of this.. its a great step forward, and at this moment exaclty now i am looking to the progressbar for 4.0 preview... just now installing and 11.93gb left...
nice video by the way..
I hope live comes soon so i can actually earn money
If we can cut everything, we can release 4.0 now
By “coming in hot”…… im assuming you mean “not coming”. Right? …..Right LevelCap?…. RIGHT??
Is this just minimum development effort needed to avoid lawsuits?
Im like oh cool Star citizen will be ready soon maybe and then i remembered its about to be 2025 and i funded the game like 10 years ago
i might die before this game becomes a game. im 22
I wish theyd just release it.. it contains YEARS AND YEARS of promises and frankly im tired of waiting.. release and MOVE ON to the next thing!
Full Fat 4.0 in Q3 2027
i guess end of january would be better to release it.
is it here?! No...
Star Citizen fans ordering copium by the gallon
I just want the choice to spawn in the hangar, for me the gameplay has never been amazing it's always about the journey and immersion for star citizen and I really hope they don't move away from that too much
They made that change already in ptu
It's a temporary solution for two reasons: 1) to get around some broken elevators, and 2) due to the influx of people playing now due to server meshing, a lot of times there are not enough habs available, which could result in players being stuck in infinite loading screens. So loading into hangars is the temporary workaround for that. When base building and persistent habs are added, then players will spawn back in their intended locations.
@@Billy-bc8pk I definitely agree it's a good idea for now but glad to know it's not the defacto standard
So we lost engineering and fire, for a patch which has still missed its deadline on account of the missions not working?!
i really like this game but everytime i try to do bounty missions the npcs just dont fucking die and its extremely frustrating. or other random shit just doesnt work. super fucking annoying
Il wait 2 more years
2 years later: v6.0, still not released
@laer6919 i know
More like 4.0 frames per second
I am kinda losing the intrest in the game. I bought it, play for some days, and it was really fun! But after that, i would die not knowing the reason, and taking 15~20 minutes to get back on my feet was very sad... Or going to jail because i made a mistake. Simples things like traveling were so good, but the other part of the game really turned me off... And i know they are making a massive progress, but waiting years to have a feature that was promised years ago is not the best thing... Even more when they are making massive ships that are sold for real money. They made so much money, and the project seen to be so slow
Wtf you mean by about a decade? Backed the game in 2014 it's now 2024. That is legit a decade.
2013 :/ Still waiting for my Wing Commander Privateer with Co-Op and Mod support.
if you're new don't buy star citizen, it's a griefers paradise.
I just hope it's stable by Feb when I get my new PC. Will be my first time back to Star Citizen in 6 years.
Welcome back in the verse
The biggest problem with Star citizen is there is nothing meaningful to do
What is your version of meaningful?
Played it, and it is still broken/frustrating and a waste of time if you have limited time to spend playing games. Sad to say but true.
I see a certain content creator is still living on hopium of this scam ever releasing
And it's gonna be broken as fuck
Its not
i will verify this in 20 min, while only 5gb left of the 4.0 preview just now installing.. but from my last 3 days testing in eptu... i thinks it was running smooth.. if this stays this way in the preview.. its ian improvement over the 3.24 stable
id rather wait an extra month or two for a more polished experience, give us the best and most stable release ever with 4.0 and it will be a big lift for the game
with the words of Shania Twain, That Don't Impress Me Much... i´ll have another look at this "dream" whenever they show 1.0 content...
maybe it's just me, but it seems like this game is never coming out.
You really should be using your platform to ctiticize this more. the amount of issues with this game after the time and money spent is abhorrent.
