Man! What a great video! You explain really clearly and inuitively complex concepts, the running attack buffer blew my mind! Thank you for your teachings and contributions to the DS3 knowledge base!
+Juutas1988 can't wait for the pvp montages too, I love your editing style! Hope I can do pvp soon enough, still finishing some builds, then I will snipe you during streams :^)
+Juutas1988 amazing as always juutas cant wait for the parry guide feels alot different from dark souls 2 and bloodborne having some trouble with in this one
Thanks for the video Juutas, great information! It's always great to see how much we're finding out each day. Can't wait to see what kind of tech we find a month or 2 from now.
+OmegaMercenary Indeed! It will probably be a whole different game by then already :) We know already that there's two DLC coming as well, probably at the end of the year (maybe even sooner) and those always bring more stuff to the table as well, with the major patches of course.
Imagine a world where Miyazaki just told us how poise worked... a new age where we would understand what should be a basic mechanic and not a convoluted flow of non-information. is non-information a thing? Nah. Prob not.
+Color Bars Oh shit, I just finished my parry guide the other day. I'll post it later this week, keep an eye out! I like hearing your feedback on the topic.
Heresy. Next thing you'll be asking is for all stats to be clearly labelled and relevant with no gimmicks and instead relying on world building, artwork, and unique weapon mechanics to make each game stand out instead of relying on opaque systems that cause massive imbalances in the PvP meta.
+Juutas1988 wats up dude you invaded me the other day my heart was in my mouth and i nearly had you too... i ran out of estus and began to panic... then u got the parry on me. lol .ps keep up the good work ill be keeping an eye out for you. our rematch is inevitable......
I just discovered something! Maybe you could put this in one of your videos, as a hidden (and kinda useless) mechanic If you make a gesture while running, the cancel to the gesture will be the jump after the run! Of course, the jump button must be circle for this to work
your info is very valuable, thank you for the research. I still got some big problems going against more skilled opponents as I'm coming from dks2 pvp wich plays completly different then it does in this game. But thanks to your info I could make up for alot of mistakes I made.
5:10 that doesn't always work for me. i always spam parry after the third hit against katanas and greatswords like the Claymore and I fail, so I get hit two more times and that usually takes all my health
First of all I'd like to say you have an amazing accent. Second of all this has been a very informative video on the stuns and poises of the game. Annoying how it is that you can't have the Havel poise from Dark Souls 1 where you can just act like you don't give a damn about straight swords hitting you, but knowing that there is always a way to combat the R1 spammers and other little niggles that other players give is very gratifying to know. Can't wait for that parry guide.
Nice vid Juutas keep up the good work! I really enjoy these videos and hope you post more videos Dark souls; questlines, boss guides, and just some good old pvp montages
@Juutas1988 The "ravioli step" (where you backstep and face your camera) is possible. It only works after you input another command (attacking) and has to be done at the end of the animation
Everything you and Elitti have found in this video will pretty much be the fundamentals of PvP until we figure out the exact numbers. Pretty good! :D Also, I love the new "baby" deadangle Kreygasm
In previous games, poise was relatively simple in that it made you resistant to getting stunned by weapons. For this game it now only works in certain conditions. My guess is that poise is triggered only when taking certain actions, such as recovering from a roll or attacking with weapons. It may also determine how quickly you recover from a stunlock, never activating on the first attack, or how strongly one can hold a shield. As described, it is a measure of how resistant your character is to being staggered or INTERRUPTED... interrupted implying you're actually taking a certain action and not just standing still. If you're doing nothing, then there's nothing to interrupt and you're free for stunlock combos. May also only work more visibly for slower builds compared to those with weight to spare. That, or From made a mistake and caused the mechanic to work backwards. Kinda like that time in Armored Core 5 when activating Scan Mode cut off energy drain from the legs, head, and boosters, when it was SUPPOSED to cut off energy drain from the arms, weapons, and FCS.
+ManintheArmor Poise system seems incomplete, but I really hope they don't change it too much either. For example Dark Souls style poise system in this game would be a disaster.
Whoa...the stored running attack is really, really cool. That's some damn interesting tech. Fantastic work, as always! When it comes to *consistently* nailing setup parries on straight sword R1 spam, I've found that it's a bit inconsistent. Whether I tank the first two hits or use a shield, parrying the third swing can result in a partial parry, or is just simply too slow sometimes. I've been able to nail the timing quite a bit, though, so I know it's possible. Seems like slight changes in latency can really throw things off when setup-parrying something as fast as a straight sword. Granted, I've only used regular parrying shields so far. I haven't experimented with the small shields or Parrying Dagger, so maybe that makes a difference.
+ReploidZero Yeah, I see what you mean. My landing success with that is like 8/10 times, latency definitely effects some scenarios (and you end up looking like a bloody fucking idiot when you fail it eating all the damage :D) but this is nothing new... lag happens.
Just a minor point, dead angles were always present in Souls series. They were absolutely essential for GS/UGS PvP in Dark Souls 1, else you would be parried/rolled all day long. And they are not used only against parries. By turning your character during attack animation with slower weapons, you can introduce a variable timing on your attacks, thus punishing those trying to roll through them and do roll attack. They changed somewhat, yes, but the primary use is still the same.
So does Poise no longer have any affect on being staggered? Me and my buds figured it had something to do with stagger(/hitstun as you call) it and also power-armor. And since we've staggered high poise with fists, we've assumed it might just apply some sort of limitation to hyper-armor poise. As someone who was an avid DS2 player but didn't get to do much PvP in ds1/bloodborne I'm very interested on the topic of poise.
+Jericho Haldark There is no Dark Souls style poise in the game where you can just tank through hits while standing there if you have enough armor, but as I explained in the video it seems to affect your ability to poise through hits that are dealt to you during roll recovery frames. If there's some other effect to it, we do not know.
+The Entitled Gamer Lag affects everything, so naturally I do not recommend doing timing strict things if you see that you and your opponent have a lot of latency.
+Melee Souls For all intents and purposes Poise no longer exists and has been replaced with an entirely different mechanic with the same game. When you have have the highest poise possible and still be staggered by a cemetary goon with a dagger, poise does not exist.
+WUZLE hyper armor makes ultra greatswords the best weapons in the game....and in a hands of a skilled player they are just ridiculous...still strenght weapons deserved buff and now they have it....FEAR the Strenght users or you are gonna get rekt .....I didn't fear them and got killed in two hits..not fun
+DeMoNsCryy I wore rags and Ultra greatswords only did about 1/4 of my health. STR is still weak compared to DEX. Just try using an Estoc and spam R1. I was able to break the guard of a guy in a full set of havel armour.
Gerald Milton depends on the hp you have but if its around 1200-1500 you will get three shotted easily by the likes of dragonslayer axe ....so don't know what kind of ugs you fought but UGS are the hardest hitting weapons....estoc is good against players only if they don't know how to parry or the guy using estoc is not alone and they stunlock the poor invader to death....
me and my friend tested parries and what I can say with a 100% is that you can parry UGs and UA regular R1s and R2 but you can do they're runnibg and rolling hopes this helps in your parry guide :)
Take as much time as you want with the parry video, Juutas. I keep forgetting to subscribe until now but your past videos helped me become a parry master in Dark Souls 2, I hope you can help me do the same in 3. Thank you!
Okay follow up question since the poise finding was wrong. The technique you showcase in this video where you hit, step forward, hit, step forward etc where you always end up swinging faster then the guy you hit. Was that dictated by any stat? or is it just a random technique? And i'd also like another clarification. So equipload effects roll recovery frames and roll distance...but nothing else?
+mongrelshadow14 That is not dictated by anything else than the hitstun system of the game, so that still works like it used to and how it is showcased on the video :) We do not have any accurate way to test i-frames yet, so we cannot say anything on how equipment load affects that but we SUSPECT that under 30% equipload adds i-frames to your roll, when over 30% let's you tank hits during roll recovery, but we cannot confirm this, so don't take my word on it just yet.
Juutas for the parry video, can you please demonstrate the timing for Farron Greatsword L1 or at least a punish to it besides parrying?! Please and thank you, great video!
In another video, can you show the difference in frames of the different parry tools? You don't have to show the exact numbers but maybe which parry tools like the small shields, parry dagger, katana battle art parry, etc. are more forgiving and easier to parry with?
Juutas can you confirm that UGS, like the Greatsword that you previously tested as well as something like BK Ugs two-handed R1 can no longer be parried? I've tested it myself and it seems like it's no longer possible. two-handed roll attack can be parried however.
what spec are you playing? I am new to this game and I see alot of ppl with that fireglove thingy? What is that and do you mind showing your spec that you mainly pvp with?
I've always wonder how effective the manual aiming is in this game for early hit confirms. For example the curved great swords' have a swipe right then left combo, if you were to aim to the right and then left would the hits connect earlier than regular lock on attacks?
I haven't been able to get the R1 spam recovery parry with that particular parry animation and can't even get partials with it. (The Small Leather Shield) Do you delay the parry slightly or parry as soon as possible?
Is there a way to show/share a video with you about a possible strategy/glitch for dark souls 3? A friend and I found a way to be immune to almost all hits
Is there a link between the amount of poise and the amount of hyper armor you get when swinging ultra weapons like ultra greatswords? By the way great work, very informative.
I got a question involving guard break and parrying. I'm not new to the soul series but I seem to be fucking up my chances for riposte. Like if I perform a guard break with my Claymore I try to go for a riposte and same thing with a parry I got. Should I get closer?
This might just be confirmation bias, but do you know if poise has any effect on hyper armor while using ultra great-weapons? It felt like it did for some reason while I was using the FUGS. That is, with low poise I felt like my hyper armor was being broken through while swinging, but with high poise it didn't happen at all.
+TheArnoldification We have tested this and we have found no effect what so ever that poise would have to hyper armor, those seem to be two completely different things.
Great video Juutas, that Dark Sword R1 spam gets annoying at times x3 For your parry guide you should test to see if you can parry kicks because I parried an NPC invader's kick, not sure on players though
Did U notice a difference between straight swords and great swords with low poise? I wonder if the breakpoint is nuanced or if U can avoid the stagger across all weapons with x amount of poise.
Ive been doing that two hits and then parry but I haven't been able to test whether there's enough time to parry the 2nd swing of a delayed R1. Did U and ur friend test to see? I'm sure weapon speed is a factor but fortunately U were using a fast weapon.
KlassicKrusty There is VERY slight window and you have to have good parrying tool, but you might be able to sneak parry in there. I bet that you have to have a good connection with your opponent as well.
+KlassicKrusty R1 to delay R1 is unparriable with halberd/greatsword class or faster when timed right. Greatweapons will get parried, but they're mostly unparriable so there's that. Works against curved greatswords consistently though, although those still have the dead angle. tl;dr: Don't try to parry it.
y'all know deeper parts of the hit stun mechanic? such as what the difference is between people who can and can't recover from first hits? I can almost always hit with second swing after the first one hits with my lucerne, but sometimes they get out from the first hit.
+Ynotillgiveyoumyname my theory for it is that there's some kind of hitstun meter (maybe even poise?) that recovers over time. So if you hit an R1 and let them get away from it and then soon after hit them with R1 and go for the combo, it will probably fail. We'll be testing if this is true very soon!
So the second hit of a combo has reduced recovery time. Does l1 attack from paired weapons has the second hit recovery time or the first recovery time?
juutas i tested the parry after 2 hits mechanic it's almost impossible to do it with rapiers in the other hands with rapiers you can get a parry after the 3rd hit that's what i learned from some testing thanks for the awesome video very useful
+yasser osama Well, yeah I agree if there's noticeable lag between you and your opponent it gets really hard, but it's definitely doable with good connection :)
I had already figured there was something to that first hit stun. I haven't actually tried it, but instead of running in, I thought of blocking. Wondering if that would make it faster... Probably not, though, I'd imagine it's just as quick as walking forward. Mayhaps something to see? Also, I've noticed that works extremely well when combining a scythe weapon and Farron Flashsword. Also, on that note, before the recent regulations patch, Farron Flashsword could be parried like a normal weapon by any shield for a riposte, it even bounced off walls if you were in range with the staff. Not sure if it's possible now, though, since now, it doesn't bounce off walls.
+Liquid7394 Somewhere around 20 would seem to be plenty, although we do not have accurate breakpoints for it, so I would suggest using your own judgement on how much you want to sacrifice to get poise.
Poise works when climbing a ladder too, and it works as hyper armor for weapons. Ive staggered people out of attacks because I broke their poise when they were mid swing.
So maybe I'm a bit of a noon on the partying aspect, but how are you guys getting them on their back with a parry? I can only get the single thrust through the stomach and then kick them off.
Since I don't want to take any unjust credit, WD storing was not discovered by me. Here is where I got it from: th-cam.com/video/eCb22y1OQW8/w-d-xo.html
Hey Juutas, your videos are invaluable to the community dude, thanks so much. I was just wondering if you've tested poise's effect on hyper armor? There are a lot of rumours swirling that high poise increases the number of hyper armour frames. Have you tested this by any chance? Or noticed it at all?
+Juutas1988 thanks dude. super helpful as usual. so the ONLY thing poise seems to affect is roll recovery i-frames? that is crazy to me. makes pouring 30 levels into VIT seem almost totally worthless.
I ONLY use heavy weapons, but the question is do I only invest in enough VIT to get below 70% with medium amor and put the extra stats into VIG and END, or do I stack VIT because Poise is really worth it? I'm leaning toward the former.
Juutas1988 Alright, that's good to hear. I have one more thing to possibly add though, and that's riposte damage. I've seen heavy strength weapons one crit kill with hornets, but never really see stuff like the Mail Breaker do that. I'm curious how the damage of a high crit modifier compares with weapons that just have much higher base damage, and how damage absorption affects that.
MarlowPreston Worth testing, yeah. I bet with great STR weapons it just boils down to the sheer amour of AR the weapons have, even if those have lower crit multiplier, a lot of dmg is still a lot of dmg.
+Juutas1988 Can you or someone explain pvp like how you join to help someone beat a boss or just to kill and various other aspects? I have most covenants, red eye orb, and red soapstone, mound makers etc. This is the first dark souls I have played, so I'm not too aware yet.
hey guys! after doing a parry ( for example with great swords) you hit him twice, but i have watched there is another sort of parry... after doing the parry you hit twice and then you crush him ( he stay in the ground) how do you do that?
+yoko ocho There is a ring in the game that boosts critical attacks (and changes the animations) called the Hornet Ring. You can find the ring in the Dark Firelink Shrine after beating Champion Gundyr.
Poise is all about -NOT BEING STAGGERED WHILE ATTACKING- It only comes into play when you are in an attack animation. At that point it clicks on and determines if your attack is going through, or if you are going to be staggered and canceled. Try it yourselves.
That is hyper armor, not poise. Having 0.5 poise is enough to activate hyper armor for the weapons that have it, but after that the amount of your poise is irrelevant. Some guys are doing some testing whether or not poise could affect you being able to get hyper armor attacks out between R1 chains, but so far the results seem lackluster.
Very informative. You deserve a lot more recognition for this work.
not very informative
1:08 Too busy watching the shadow under the bridge.
+ShadowGale wtf? xD
I love how the music kicked in as he began explaining the hit-pause-hit stunlock technique. It's like something out of an anime.
Thanks for taking the time to make these mechanic videos, i have enjoyed all of them. Keep up the good work sir!
Man! What a great video! You explain really clearly and inuitively complex concepts, the running attack buffer blew my mind! Thank you for your teachings and contributions to the DS3 knowledge base!
Man I've always loved your work regarding Souls Mechanics ^^ Can't wait for the Parry guide :D
Parry guides already exist.
And the most popular one is pretty damn good.
I truly value your videos, Sir! The running block mechanic is fantastic... you can usually bait a parry just with the block animation and then attack.
Love these kind of videos, keep up the amazing work, you are doing huge favors to the whole community.
+IaitoConLai
+Juutas1988 can't wait for the pvp montages too, I love your editing style! Hope I can do pvp soon enough, still finishing some builds, then I will snipe you during streams :^)
+Juutas1988 amazing as always juutas cant wait for the parry guide feels alot different from dark souls 2 and bloodborne having some trouble with in this one
TacticalRPG Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get it down in no time :) it's rather easy in this game in my opinion.
I love that area for some duels, wonderful video man, learned a lot, I'll check Oro's video next ;D
You are the best dark souls youtube imo.I am new to dark souls pvp (came from bloodborne) and your guides are really helping me out

paul kavo Nice! :)
Ooh neat, I didn't know about that R1 buffer thing. Will be good to know when I see people sprinting at me while blocking.
+DamnNoHtml Yeah, it's a neat little thing :)
Amazing work, Juutas. Thank you, a lot of new and useful info!
+Your Waifu woah...I really could use a good looking waifu like you :3

Love to see your videos get some many views, likes and comments with ds3, keep up the amazing work Juutas
Wow.... The block running attack... Thanx for the vid
As if the first video wasn't enough: subscribed. This is really quality content. Keep up the goodwork.
+rapsody230 Welcome to the channel :)
we play exactly the same. I just started watching you and it amazed me how we think the same way when it comes to pvp
Thank you for sharing all this information my friend. It is rare to find a good source of Dark Souls related content other than Vaati.
+Glori4n if you think stealing info is considered good content then your fucked up. Vaati is a thief and should have his contents removed.
Oh, it's just Garak. Plain, simple Garak When has he stolen anything?
Nice job with these vids; very detailed and informative; keep it up.

+CDZxGhost Don't know about the questlines, but I cannot resist doing PvP montages, I love editing those :)
+Juutas1988 can't wait!
Very educational, great work juutas.
Interesting information we have here!
Amazing video. Thanks for showing all this info!
very useful guide. good to know. and now i know why i can catch so many rolls if they are panic rolling. i wondered how that works
@Juutas1988 The "ravioli step" (where you backstep and face your camera) is possible. It only works after you input another command (attacking) and has to be done at the end of the animation

+Juutas1988 True. Wanted to tell you about it since you are making mechanic videos
+Juutas1988 This is for ps4
Everything you and Elitti have found in this video will pretty much be the fundamentals of PvP until we figure out the exact numbers. Pretty good! :D Also, I love the new "baby" deadangle Kreygasm

+Lycan93 It's really useful to know, nice way to end rounds :)
5:03 what is that counter animation ? it's so cool
+Melak Hornet Ring riposte animation :)
nice ! Is that upgrading damage ?
Melak Yes for ripostes and backstabs :)
What is the greatsword Ellitti is using at 1:30
Executioner's Greatsword
Juutas thank you. I always recognise swords by there blades mostly, and couldn't see the flat tip in that shot very well
Very interesting! Thanks for the info!
02:37 how did you do that hit him to the ground and do more damage?
+Blood dash Hornet Ring.
+Juutas1988 it adds on the the animation? where you stabbe in the gut and then trip and stabbe agen
Blood dash Yeah, Hornet Ring while boosting critical hit dmg, also changes the animations of riposte and backstab :)
+Juutas1988 thx. love your vids
what sword is eliitti using at 6:00?
+Geronimo D That would be the Murakumo :)
thanks XD

Juutas1988 thanks for the reply.
You guys are awesome. Keep up the goos work!
Juutas for the parry video, can you please demonstrate the timing for Farron Greatsword L1 or at least a punish to it besides parrying?! Please and thank you, great video!
try parrying at the L1 jump animation but you have to be close
+Mason Furia I will, don't worry.
+Juutas1988 thank you *jump for joy*
+Travis Johnson I can parry that like cake the problem is a good player would know that attack isn't very good so I personally don't see it much
In another video, can you show the difference in frames of the different parry tools? You don't have to show the exact numbers but maybe which parry tools like the small shields, parry dagger, katana battle art parry, etc. are more forgiving and easier to parry with?
+Jay Parmar That will be featured in the parry guide, yes :)
Yeay thanks!
great video man! May i ask you to share your build? i was trying to make a pyro/ carthus shotel build too and was looking for suggestions!
+Leonardo Calamandrei Oh, it's basically just a DEX/PYRO so 40~ish VIG, 40 DEX, 20 INT and 20 FTH.
Thanks man!
Juutas can you confirm that UGS, like the Greatsword that you previously tested as well as something like BK Ugs two-handed R1 can no longer be parried? I've tested it myself and it seems like it's no longer possible. two-handed roll attack can be parried however.
+Erik Bäckman I have not retested after patch 1.04 so I guess it's worth a double check if that's changed.
what spec are you playing? I am new to this game and I see alot of ppl with that fireglove thingy? What is that and do you mind showing your spec that you mainly pvp with?
+Lasse Pedersen (Essalx) I just uploaded a video where you can see the stats of this build :)
I've always wonder how effective the manual aiming is in this game for early hit confirms. For example the curved great swords' have a swipe right then left combo, if you were to aim to the right and then left would the hits connect earlier than regular lock on attacks?
+Frank free aiming of attacks works great :)
I haven't been able to get the R1 spam recovery parry with that particular parry animation and can't even get partials with it. (The Small Leather Shield) Do you delay the parry slightly or parry as soon as possible?
+SolarFlare I press the parry as soon as the second hit has landed, because that's when you recover.
Hey, do you have any information on charged heavies?
+mkit18 In regarding to poise? No, not yet.
Is there a way to show/share a video with you about a possible strategy/glitch for dark souls 3? A friend and I found a way to be immune to almost all hits
+herpadurpe07 well... record it and upload it to youtube?
Is there a link between the amount of poise and the amount of hyper armor you get when swinging ultra weapons like ultra greatswords? By the way great work, very informative.
+tektek55 Doesn't seem to have any link with eachother atm at least.
I got a question involving guard break and parrying. I'm not new to the soul series but I seem to be fucking up my chances for riposte. Like if I perform a guard break with my Claymore I try to go for a riposte and same thing with a parry I got. Should I get closer?
Hey! Nice Video man, very informative. Like your intro very much. Whats the songs name?
+LAzZOOOR The song is made by my friend Ville Huovila, under the artist name Kasvihuone. The song is called Machines :)
+Juutas1988 Thanks for the fast reply man! Is it available on TH-cam?
LAzZOOOR Don't know about that, but it's on soundcloud :) soundcloud.com/kasvihuone-1/machines
Juutas1988 Alright thanks alot! :)
Nice video man good job!
Juutas1988 I see, thanks for the quick reply and clarification.
Great video Juutas, that Dark Sword R1 spam gets annoying at times x3
For your parry guide you should test to see if you can parry kicks because I parried an NPC invader's kick, not sure on players though
+sneekylilbast Don't worry we will check that out as well :)
Did U notice a difference between straight swords and great swords with low poise? I wonder if the breakpoint is nuanced or if U can avoid the stagger across all weapons with x amount of poise.
+KlassicKrusty Breakpoints seem rather cryptic at the moment... well not cryptic really, but would take so long time to test properly.
Great video! Liked and subscribed for life.
+tristanwin Welcome to the channel :')
where i get that coat at 1:56?
+David Hogins If you mean the one EIiitti is wearing, it's the one that patches sells if I remember correctly.
+Juutas1988 no, i mean, your set
David Hogins Oh, that's the pyromancer set from DkS, you can find it from the forest area with the crabs :)
+Juutas1988 thanks, for the video and the tip
ok how do you do that additional stab on the repost because the the hornet ring is total bullshit
+Amanda Uchiha except the hornet ring isn't as good anymore
I love your Vids m8 great commentary
y'all know deeper parts of the hit stun mechanic? such as what the difference is between people who can and can't recover from first hits? I can almost always hit with second swing after the first one hits with my lucerne, but sometimes they get out from the first hit.
+Ynotillgiveyoumyname There seems to be some weird shit going on with hitstun at times so I guess we need to try to look on that more soon.
+Ynotillgiveyoumyname my theory for it is that there's some kind of hitstun meter (maybe even poise?) that recovers over time. So if you hit an R1 and let them get away from it and then soon after hit them with R1 and go for the combo, it will probably fail. We'll be testing if this is true very soon!
thanks
Thanks juutas for doing these videos. you pretty cool
can u show especially how to parry rapiers, those things have been tearing me apart in pvp an the take 2 hit set up parry isnt workingfor me
+Zachary Goldberg I will show it in the parry guide :)
So the second hit of a combo has reduced recovery time. Does l1 attack from paired weapons has the second hit recovery time or the first recovery time?
+Bishopn 2579 Probably depends on a weapon, haven't tested that.
Thank you for you time, keep it up!
No information about the invisible poise bar that SLOWLY refills?
+Trejo Pendejo No, nothing yet.
+Juutas1988 I'm assuming it's unchanged from dark souls 2
juutas i tested the parry after 2 hits mechanic it's almost impossible to do it with rapiers in the other hands with rapiers you can get a parry after the 3rd hit that's what i learned from some testing
thanks for the awesome video very useful
+Sendokidu We are gonna find out when we start doing tests for the parry guide, I suppose.
How much poise would you recommend? I have 21.42. And would you recommend using any of the Wolf Rings in this game.
+Liquid7394 Somewhere around 20 would seem to be plenty, although we do not have accurate breakpoints for it, so I would suggest using your own judgement on how much you want to sacrifice to get poise.
for now, as much as you can get without sacrificing fashion or other things about your build.
U make great videos u deserve way more! :)
Poise works when climbing a ladder too, and it works as hyper armor for weapons. Ive staggered people out of attacks because I broke their poise when they were mid swing.
+V1cT Oh? That sounds weird :D
+V1cT poise has no effect on hyper armor
*****
I've been stunned out of swings because I was trying out lighter armor. It seems to give you more hyper armor frames.
So maybe I'm a bit of a noon on the partying aspect, but how are you guys getting them on their back with a parry? I can only get the single thrust through the stomach and then kick them off.
Noob* parrying*
Hornet ring.
+CognizantCheddar
PTSD ring*
I've seen that running buffer used on me, I thought it was lag lol.
dam your videos are so good. Time to sub.
+Rafael Chung Welcome to the channel :)
Oh my God, you just gave us the best counter against dark sword and estoc spammers... I love you, juutas
+Heredow Works like a charm ;) (with good enough connection)
Could you make a video about how to parry different weapons?
+Rino Moen I will (I did mention it in the end of this video :O )
oh :P i guess i tuned out alittle too late ^^ My bad then :)
Since I don't want to take any unjust credit, WD storing was not discovered by me. Here is where I got it from:
th-cam.com/video/eCb22y1OQW8/w-d-xo.html
+Jemoai Oh, so you got it from Cass's video and Cass got it from some Japanese guy? :D the trail goes deep, haha!
+tallbeardedone Poise doesn't seem to have any effect on hyper armor, if it does effect it somehow we haven't found out how.
+Juutas1988 thanks dude. super helpful as usual. so the ONLY thing poise seems to affect is roll recovery i-frames? that is crazy to me. makes pouring 30 levels into VIT seem almost totally worthless.
tallbeardedone Well armors still have defense so it can still be useful, also if you use heavy weapons :)
I ONLY use heavy weapons, but the question is do I only invest in enough VIT to get below 70% with medium amor and put the extra stats into VIG and END, or do I stack VIT because Poise is really worth it? I'm leaning toward the former.
tallbeardedone I would say go with medium armor and fall under 70%, poise is not THAT important, but it can be useful against good roll catch weapons.
I've seen a lot of people do the parry after getting hit twice thing with small shields, but will it work with a medium shield?
+Chibichanga It does :) rapier timing might be strict, but even that works.
Will you be extensively testing for unparryable weapons? It seems like two handed black knight great axe has unpariable r1s and r2s for example.
+MarlowPreston We are going to do very detailed testings for the parry guide, yeah.
_"Moomin's TV show"_
I liked the video, but I liked this even more x)
+pokashine woops :D
+Juutas1988 Can you or someone explain pvp like how you join to help someone beat a boss or just to kill and various other aspects? I have most covenants, red eye orb, and red soapstone, mound makers etc. This is the first dark souls I have played, so I'm not too aware yet.
MrSimpy10 I could explain it to you but I think you can find better instructions by googling it honestly.
Juutas1988 reddit will. At least thanks for the reply
MrSimpy10 darksouls3.wiki.fextralife.com/Online
hey guys! after doing a parry ( for example with great swords) you hit him twice, but i have watched there is another sort of parry... after doing the parry you hit twice and then you crush him ( he stay in the ground)
how do you do that?
+yoko ocho There is a ring in the game that boosts critical attacks (and changes the animations) called the Hornet Ring. You can find the ring in the Dark Firelink Shrine after beating Champion Gundyr.
Ooh thank you so much!!
Which armor is the guy on the right wearing at the beginning of the video?
+Gary Crossingham My armor pieces: Sellsword helm, Conjurator chest, Brigand trousers and Worker gloves.
+Juutas1988 I saw the Conjurer chest but yours is a grey poncho. I'll have another look tonight. Cheers
Gary Crossingham Female and male have different looking pieces :)
Ahhhhhhh!
So you have a lady!
Poise is all about -NOT BEING STAGGERED WHILE ATTACKING-
It only comes into play when you are in an attack animation.
