    Hi mate question. If I do as follows on this video including fixing cranck shaft and cams. Would there be any risk of loosing timing when removing the crankshaft bolt without inserting a special spacer?

    Hi Mechanitek,
    How do I reset a jumped timing? I think mine jumped and it’s not starting now but chain is still intact.
    Many thanks for the helpful video

      My chain was jumped too

    • @mechanitek2097
      @mechanitek2097  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pelican it’s same operation just put camshafts approximately how they should and after you’ll remove the chain adjust it

    • @pelican7481
      @pelican7481 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mechanitek thanks for the info. So I still need to remove the chain? And is there any way to check if it’s jumped before I start removing?

    • @mechanitek2097
      @mechanitek2097  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pelican you can check camshafts angles with scanner or to open rocker cover

    • @pelican7481
      @pelican7481 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mechanitek I’ve taken the rocker cover of and my timing is way way out. The exhaust cam is at the 1 o clock position but the inlet cam is just in the wrong position. How do I bring both cams into the right position. I’ve also found the crank locking hole, put the pin in and tried to lock at TDC but it won’t line up with the whole on the flywheel. What am I doing wrong? Should the hole line up when it’s at TDC?

  • @berwhaletheavenger
    @berwhaletheavenger ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I hope to God nobody changes an N40, N42, N45 or N46 chain kit like this. It's a disaster waiting to happen.
    Firstly - you must always crack off the crankshaft bolt BEFORE you fit the flywheel locking pin. Use a locking tool in the flywheel teeth or a big old screwdriver, same for retightening.
    NEVER, EVER reuse the crank and cam bolts. These are stretch bolts to be used once only. Reuse the old ones and chances are, the cam and crank sprockets will move.
    USE A TORQUE WRENCH! The crank bolt is torqued to 300 nm. The camshaft sprocket bolts are torqued to 20 nm and then 90 degrees, and 90 degrees again. These bolts are torqued with the chain tension set, cam locks fitted and the cam plates locked. The N45 and N40 cam plate locks are different to the N42 and N46.

    does anyone know that the Engine the N46 is? That is not the N40 or N45 or the N45T! Bullshit ist that. The N40 is the "Twin Turbo" Engine!
