- Matthew Boling is quite amazing as a 100, 200, 400m runner.
But the indoor 60m just isn't for him.

If you know anything about track then you'd know the 60m is really all about your start (your get off) The 60m is not gonna actually tell you who is fast and who isn't, people run the 60m to work on their start. You rarely ever see verterans run this event the ones who do are usually men and women who are 25+ years or older who have worked on their start for years. One of the most inconsistent things for a young track athlete is his or her start and seeing how Matthew is only 19 or 20 right now the 60m will be a very inconsistent race for him, he's gonna win some and he's gonna lose some
This is facts, the 100M, 200M & even 400M (especially the first one) are far better to determine top speed.
And also Bolt rarely ran the 60M in fact I don’t think I’ve seen a clip of Usain Bolt running the 60.
@@SoulSociety404 Exactly because Usain bolt start was known to be very inconsistent but his stride was crazy good. If you every watched Usain bolt races his start was never as perfect as someone like christian coleman. Chistian coleman is someone who always dominants 60m because his start is great almost all the time.
Micah Williams has some crazy turnover! Interested to see him over 100, so far 10.21 is his best. Boy can fly!

Also I believe at this meet he runs the 2nd fastest 200 and 400 in the world!! He is a beast!!!

It's the best high school wind-legal time ever. He also has the best high school all-conditions record....and the #7 LJ in U.S. high school history.
He won the national title in the indoor 200. Let's see "all the 400m guys" do that.

Mathew did good . He's not suppose to win 60 meter dashes. Hes a 200 400 runner basically. His coach is entering him into the 60 m race so he can improve his start
in this meet lookd pretty good in the 200m though.
He didn't look ready. He was last in blocks, wasn't really set. Didn't seem into it. Plus when someone has acceleration as he does, he doesn't HAVE to be great in the 60.Its good for him to work on his first phase of the race so he isnt always tracking people down. Once he gets to 70-80M its over! He's GREAT at 100 200 400 because he has more room for acceleration.

This was not his best run, he has only run this once before, his first run a 6.64, I applaud him for going outside his comfort zone to improve and become a well rounded athlete. I have been watching this kid, he is the real deal, If he continues to work he will improve this, no need to be a hater.
Actually he ran a 60M last season/year (before Covid cancelled the rest of it) and ran 6.68 before he came 2nd to Taylor Banks from FSU who ran 6.67.

60m is never gonna be his race anyway, just good practice for his starts.
And 20.19 to take the national title over a wild class senior. Expecting a 19.7x outdoor 200 at NCAAs.
He looks like he was struggling throughout this race. Clearly it’s not natural for him and I think the 100 will be a huge challenge for this reason. The easy thing would be to set his sites on the 200 and 400 which he could possibility dominate. More power to him if he wants to keep pursuing the 100. Personally I think it would pretty cool to be the guy who dominates in 200 and 400. Better than trying to fit a round peg in a square whole, but he’s still young so probably won’t hurt too much if he keeps trying for awhile, as long as he doesn’t start getting strain injuries which seems like a risk in this situation.
of course. He's got a smart coach who is helping with improving his start.
@@edwardwojick6906 lots of fans have bought into the idea of him to competing in the 100 internationally and maybe he has too, but he does seem like a well grounded kid so hopefully he can handle the pressure and make the right choices for himself.

Boling kinda reminds me of Jeremy Wariner- excellent top speed, but his strength is what sets him apart and his start leaves a lot to be desired.
? Wariner never ran a 9.98 100M and this kid has run 6.64 as a 19 or 20 year old. They are both white maybe thats why you are comparing them? lol
@@marcoleone8189 No, they have similar times overall. Wariner never ran the 100m in peak fitness, and their 200/400 times are comparable. Jeremy hovered above 20 flat with a poor start, which is where I think Matthew can get in a few years. And Matthew's official PB is still over 10 seconds btw.
@@heightdevil NO you're wrong. Wariner was never even close to the 10.11 that Boling ran at 18 or 19. Are you kidding me? So a 18 or 19 yr old kid who has run 10.11 100M and 6.64 60M reminds you of an elite 400M specialist and somtimes 200M guy because Boling ran 6.70 in one meet? Let me reemphasize he ran an EARLY season 6.64 as a true soph so it is conceivable he could go sub 6.60 this season! Wait till he is 22 before you make comparisons like that.

We know he's a 200/400 guy. The 60 is just for speed work so all you fanboys can calm down. As my coach used to tell me, "The real money is made outside". We'll see what he does when the Olympic trials get here in June. Until then, Y'all keep "hope" alive...
