Self-tuning, always is a good choice, but i really loves tunes the PID type control, manually, and estimate those values, based on : 1.- Nature of the variables to be under control (If flow i.e. Liquid, Gas, Granular, if Pressure due primary thermal variables due any fuel, if temperature, if density, if P.h.). 2.- Final element of control if a valve (butterfly valve, cage valve, double seat valve, ball valve, or motor (type of motor dc, ac with vdf), etc. I missed those days when i did manually the tuning, alway was a challenge to calculate the P.I.D. at the first chance. I tried to click the button to show the axis, it's there. But the model is not viewable in the Mechanics Explorer. Please Help. Note: I am using my MATLAB 2021a version

Does simscape also takes the form ans size of the propellers into account to calculate the aero forces or is it only created by a simple linear transformation from rotational speed to thrust?

Good explanation, but I would use SS control system, based on feedback of all state variables, which is way better than PID controllers.

he can use the lqr command to find the gain and just implement it to the quadcopter dynamics... optimal control is better
