This session reviews how engineering and science students use software simulation tools to develop a deeper understanding of complex multidomain applications. A quadcopter UAV example is used to showcase how the fundamental mathematics concepts introduced in the earlier years of a science or engineering degree work hand in hand with the higher-level numerical methods and control design concepts taught in the later years.
    The session demonstrates:
How the new MATLAB® Live Editor can demystify rotation matrix sequences and enliven the teaching of concepts associated with moments of inertia
How Simulink® can model and solve the 6-DOF equations of motion of a rigid body (building, solving, implementing equations, and incorporating the rotation matrix concepts along the way)
How to linearize a 6-DOF model and design controllers for altitude and attitude control

@MATLAB, why can't you show us the model from the start and develop the model gradually instead of presenting the final model? I am a student and have to use MATLAB part of my study but I can tell you that I start hating my course because of MATLAB and Simulink. I am really struggling with MATLAB and Simulink, as there is no source at all to show how to build the model from the start to the finishing step by step (not only shown my the final model). MATLAB produces amazing commercial videos but there is no documentation or videos to show how to model step by step from the beginning to the finish.

I’m feeling you bro, I wanted to learn it with excitement but nothing is that clear, I’ve a project to simulate and I found no help on Google or from my teachers. So I will just give up and let them say today’s generation ain’t competent.

@@rahulmathias8758 Well, I am in the same way, but I am sure if these guys can not help, we students or practitioners can make our group, troubleshoot and get rid of problems. If yes, from your side will be going ahead.

Excellent presentation! When I worked at a very large aviation related manufacturer, they did an in-house move to using matlab / simulink but the way controls work was allocated to the many engineers in a tunnel vision fashion, I hated it as I couldn’t visualize overall system design. I am back at home revisiting this entire topic after a long stint in flight test with aircraft manufacturers. I purchased many tools licenses for these thought experiments I have .. you hit it right on the head in the presentation. . The updates to the MathWorks tool sets since my prior experience are excellent .. I really really like it and presentations like this reflect the excellent approach to your product development and focus on end user needs or whatnot .. Thx

Hello Sir. It's an excellent video. However, there is one thing that I would like to point out and get myself clarified. When you pause the video at 1:10:12, in bh_test_LINCONT_on_NONLIN_plant/CONROL_SYSTEM, I notice that you are adding gravitational force to the thrust calculated by altitude controller. Shouldn't it be subtracted from thrust? Because when you linearize the plant I notice that you subtract the gravitational force (you basically add but gravity itself is negative (-9.81)) as shown at 57:50 of the video. Please could you justify this. Thanks a lot in advance.

Hey, Can you tell me how to add other variant subsystem in existing model when already a subsystem is working. I want to change Simulink 3D visualization to FlightGear visualization in my block diagram under visualization subsystem.
