Tip for you seat-belt: Put a zip tie on the belt, when your start doing steep tracks, slide it up just before it locks out; that way whenever you get out of the car when your halfway up a hill, your belt wont be locked out and you will be able to put it back on. When your back in the car, slide it down so it works again in the (unlikely) event of a rollover/crash. When your on the road, slide it all the way down so the belt works like normal.
Thats a ripper tip! Definiterly have to remember that one! I dont like not having it on hey its like second nature to me to wear it!
as an older guy, its very interesting how you've mentioned a lot of the safety equipment (abs, airbags, seat belts ) not being there and/or working well, they were all starting to come in when i was younger and you guys sort of expect cars to have it where i still go oh that's nice i guess.

Yes ! Interesting point of view , how times have changed , considering the old American truck we are working on doesn’t even have seat belts 😅 new cars certainly have a lot more now

Yup, I own and ran a "86 FJ62 Sahara in SA on gas, for the last 25 years, converted more or less like yours, with over 700.000km on the engine, in Qld LPG is a problem, although i have made all the way from Cairns to Melbourne on the west side of the great devide on LPG. Usually on long trips in the outback I run petrol. Anywhere from 15 to 20L/100km at around 90 to 95 kmh, no roofrack, (petrol is usually cheaper than diesel) depending on conditions.(Long range tank or Jerries are a good idea! Lol)
Hope you have many great trips with the sixtie mate, I am!! Nothing like the feel, the reliabillity and the simplicity of an old truck, like it a lot better than my other LX470 with all the gizmos in there.

Trick with old seatbelts, give it a hard yank down then let it back up softly. Then pull down softly & usually they will unlock.

I would add a 270 degree self supporting ( no poles) awning from 4wd super centre they sell for $400 ish and if like me you add the optional walls and you are set😊

We camp at the amamoor creek campground, bloody mint spot and you're allowed dogs. Keen to check out more of the bush around there. As for the luxy i reckon a 1uz is going in

When i use too live in gympie stayed at cedar alot its a wonderful place to stay and the national park around it is good for wheeling and moto riding some good hard tracks but if its wet you will need a winch
That single burner is mint... we did half a lap last year with a Webber and that exact same single burner just need a good wind break but can't fault ours 👌🏼

Great content as always lads - Oi Mac take care with the steel roof rack mate - my dad had one on his MUX and the steel rack rusted, then rust spots started to form on his roof through the paint!!!

Could try the old zippy tie on the seat belt so it doesn't get coiled back in n stuck while on the tracks...then ur belt is still out enough to get put back on when u go to move the car again
After the new alternator the 60 needs twin lockers and go back and see how it does that last track. Would be interesting to see

If it’s a 1UZ I’m definitely continuing to life my life vicariously through you. Had a lifted twin locked Surf and blew the motor. Should have just kept it and done the 1UZ.
Sometimes with the seatbelts if you pull them out towards the roof they will pull out, it’s just the angle that stops them

Yo Mac, get an electronic external regulator for the alternator. I was having the same issue with my coil external regulator only charging up to 13v.

Bro's! Put your seatbelt on then loop a zip tie around the belt close to the B pillar slide. Then when you take your seatbelt off on a hill, it wont retract. Meaning you can bang it back on when you drive off again.
Then, when you are on road again you can slip the zip tie downcloser to the buckle and the retractomatic will retracto as normal.

and their is another conversion coming soon which is going to be the way to go in most 4x4 Toyota's
