I hope you guys are still reading comments. If I'm not mistaken, Pro Shop wrote the book on TH-cam gear demos. The one you did here, for The Pharaoh, is why so many have imitated you.
I've just finished recording this weekend and unintentionally got a very Jimmy Page type lead sound using the Pharaoh on Ge, 70's Marshall and a Tele. I'm very glad I've picked one up.
A transistor is like two diodes with their polarities toward each other--sort of. A transistor has three terminals, a diode two. They are different components with different purposes. I'm guessing that the transistors themselves are silicon, but then the diodes (Ge or Si) are in the feedback loop between the collector and base of one of the transistors. Just a guess. :) Hope this helps.
of course mate.. when using bypass diode or silicon it can make guitar single coil guitar thick as hell.. hi/lo input also help for shaping ur sound..either more bright or scooped muff/fuzz.. recommended for clean amp setting..
That chewy clean tone from 2:28-2:34 nearly brought me to tears. LP superiority aside, this is the best fuzz pedal demo I've ever seen and I am seriously considering buying the Pharaoh!
you guys make this pedal sound so much better than is does on other youtube videos... it sounds way more amp like here... others make it sound like a typical squishy squashy warbley fuzz... soooo... does it really sound like this... tight and even... with a sharp attack...
Yes, we like to think what you're hearing in the demo is a true representation of the pedal. We try to capture the actual room as well as the speaker for a fuller sound. There a so many clipping options and input options to make the pedal very tight if that's what you're after. Thanks!
great idea pgs on letting andy play and putting the pedal settings on the side! it gives more certainty that youre not being cheated by some guitar trick, and that andy rocks
@MigelMeUp Funny. I remember chacking out PGS since they had only 10 videos or so, dunno what year was that... and how they used a G&L Legacy for mostly every demo.
@ASATbomber probably the pharaoh. very thick wall of fuzz, and has multiple clipping modes. very versatile. however if you want scooped mids, this isn't the fuzz for you.
Depends sometimes transistors are used as diodes in that kinda arrangement they are the same (of course subtle differences) when used more for amplication purposes (like in a preamp arrangement) it is different. That said usually for both germanium is warmer looser and fuzzier (not higher gain just less of a clean sounding distortion)
@ProGuitarShopDemos Are the guitars you guys use for demos Andy's (or anyone else's) personal guitars? Or are they just guitars you have around the shop specifically for demos?
@ProGuitarShopDemos why that one? It is the same one over and over LOL you must like it. Plus you always use the same awesome butterscotch tele.... I want one!!!!
@Superninjasam If you wanna spring for a good quality fuzz, don't go for boss. They'e fuzz box is very low quality, and does not sound too good. If your looking for a more modern fuzz, go for the big muff. For a more classic fuzz, I would go for a fuzz face. I haven't tried the swollen pickle, so I can't comment on that. Hope this helped.
Fuzz pedals tend to be pretty noisy. It's just the nature of the beast. Think about how hard you're hitting the front end of your amp. What amp are you using? Maybe it's the culprit.
This video should be in the pedal demo hall of fame... Andy earned some respect on this one. That Pharoah is one of the best pedals ever made
Sabbath in the beginning is what got me wanting this now
Finally I found the fuzz I hear in my head!

i love andys smile right after the money solo..it was like a "yea i just rockeddd" smile
I listened, and expected it to be around about 220 or so, scrolled down, and nope... 150. Wow. Great versatile pedal for the price.
Sounds good for Doom Metal.
That Money solo was pretty sweet.

sounds perfect for stoner rock
Black Math in a demo of a pedal by Black Arts. Nice. Very nice.
This Pedal has the label WINO, Spirit Caravan, Hidden Hand, The Obsessed all over it! :))

@selske23 The song in the beginning is Cornucopia by Black Sabbath
@archebeats thanks for the kind words on the design!

Should demo the Coven. Which is this one and the black forrest OD pedal in one package. Can use them separately or together t combine thee 2 effects.
@MigelMeUp We play that LP in most of our videos. It has miles of use on it.
defo one of the best fuzz pedals ive heard
great idea pgs on letting andy play and putting the pedal settings on the side! it gives more certainty that youre not being cheated by some guitar trick, and that andy rocks
@matteomerzi

@MigelMeUp Funny. I remember chacking out PGS since they had only 10 videos or so, dunno what year was that... and how they used a G&L Legacy for mostly every demo.

@Strat0Blues Do Movember here in Canada too; last year's went towards cancer research.
@ProGuitarShopDemos That sounds like a name for a Big Muff variant.
This pedal is already a classic.
nice to see a Hagstrom in these demos
@ASATbomber probably the pharaoh. very thick wall of fuzz, and has multiple clipping modes. very versatile. however if you want scooped mids, this isn't the fuzz for you.
BLACK MATH! Yeah great white stripes part!
@Antigopito "I Want You to Know" - Dinosaur Jr.
Andy should do more the white stripes cover :)
Every time he plays Pink Floyd I say, "I need this pedal too"

@ProGuitarShopDemos Don't forget about full beard February leading to shaving down to just the 'stache for Cindo de Mustache
does the pharaoh have more clarity than big muff?
i know this is going to be a low demand, but i'd really love to see a more strat-focused demo of this pedal
damn andy, this demo is just awesome!!
@ProGuitarShopDemos Are the guitars you guys use for demos Andy's (or anyone else's) personal guitars? Or are they just guitars you have around the shop specifically for demos?
I love when andy plays the white stripes
@Temka957 PGS only demos what they sell. The day they the store starts selling acoustic guitars I'm sure we'll see the videos!
Fucken' UNREAL!! I'm buying a Black Arts Toneworks Pharaoh Fuzz ! WoooWoooo! GREAT VIDEO BY THE WAY! +_~
@ProGuitarShopDemos When do we get to see an SG?
@GuitarBlues3 Yes! Two under the Foot.
Dino jr!
1:23 - Pink Floyd- Money

@ProGuitarShopDemos why that one? It is the same one over and over LOL you must like it. Plus you always use the same awesome butterscotch tele.... I want one!!!!
Dinosaur Jr. for the win!

Andy = awesomeness
You found the word for me to buy this pedal : Cornucopia

Andy im the Green Lantern Monster and I have to suck in all your creativity!!
between this one and the LSTR, which one would be better for stoner rock and doom?
i really want to know what song he plays at 2:40ish.
hey guys!! the name of the pedal is Pharaoh or Pharoah?? 'cause in your webpage it says Pharoah...
@Superninjasam

@ProGuitarShopDemos Tommy Iommi style. Perhaps even a mullet.
I noticed you had the fuzz pretty much dimed most of the time. Could you get the same tones from the LSTR?
@gr8scott74 But do I really have to step on two cats' asses whenever I turn it on or off?
Oh my sweet baby jesus...
what was that first guitar andy was playing?
I love how you guys have been playing pink floyd lately, keep doing that pls!

Wich voltage for the pharaoh fuzz ? 9V ? 12?...
awesome!
for 150 that's really good
@iagobroxado I've been here since 2008. I just had never seen this guitar for some reason. Or maybe it's just my awful memory.
