Got this pedal in today and just put everything at high noon and holy effin balls. Ear to ear grin like no other pedal has ever been able to do. It really does seem to be everything it's cracked up to be. No bad combination of settings to be found. This thing is amazeballs. Thanks PGS, you guys kick so much ass.
this thing’s going for like 60 bucks right now, but i’ve already bought basically this entire digitech line that Harman’s discounted to nothing since they disbanded DOD
I ended up buying this pedal after watching these demos. After a few months this is how I run it (I play Sludge/Doom Metal); I run it into my overdrive channel with the gain at about 1 o clock (on the amp) with the pedal on Hali mode. Before knob is at 12 o clock, after is at 11 o clock, output is at 3 o clock and hi cut is about mid way. The result is a seriously ballsy tone
Sorry to necro this old post, but I'm about to pull the trigger on buying one for myself, and I was going to use it in a similar application as you haha. What amp did you plug it into?
TheJofrica Man I've owned a handful of fuzz's and can't seem to make them work in my rig. I also may have to buy this one and hope I can make it work lol!
LKJ 69 Ah man, what's going on with them if you don't mind my asking? Maybe turn down the gain? Yeah maybe a pedal like this with more tweakability might work for you
True Detective was making references to the works of Robert W. Chambers, a writer that inspired H.P. Lovecraft. Chambers was most famous for "The King In Yellow", a series of short stories that dealt with characters finding a play book by the same name and going mad from reading it. They would see visions of "Dim Carcosa" and "The Yellow King" and so forth...Definitely worth a read if you like True Detective as much as I did, or you love cosmic horror/Cthulu mythos stories.
If you didn't respond to me, sorry for replying without cause. I found out "the king in yellow" thru a critic annotation on a few Lovecraft stories, although I found it to be much more of the "gothic/dream cycle" style, rather than "cosmic horror". How did you liked Chambers's style, compared to Lovecraft's?
Carcosa is apparently something of a meme for how versatile it is, so I'd go with that. More options, whereas the Sovtek is probably only gonna get you the one sound that might not end up working with your setup.
It's very different. The Carcosa is a lot rougher than a muff at the upper gain ranges, and it cleans up better than a muff in the lower gain ranges. I would think of it as a good contrast to a muff rather than a replacement.
could we get a bass video for this pedal? You do play the bass for a few seconds in this video but the guitar doesn't stop playing to give us more than one second of bass only tones......
In my useless opinion, I feel that no fuzz pedal will ever reach the pure fuzz nirvana that was reached by the russian big muff. But this fuzz may be better for stoner rock. It's all about what genre you like. I play blues rock, and the russian works great for that.
@@AndyDemos Another song it sounds like is, “Subliminally” by Suicidal Tendencies! “THEY’LL F*CK WITH ME SUBLIMINALLY! THEY’LL F*CK WITH ME SUBLIMINALLY! THEY’LL F*CK WITH ME Subli-min-ally!
There's no right or wrong answer. It's what sounds best to you. But the "standard" rule for dirt pedals is roughly if you have a boost, OD, distortion and fuzz pedals you would go Guitar > boost > OD > Distortion > Fuzz.
There is a clip on our Soundcloud page where I run a DOD 410 BiFET Boost buffer in front of the Carcosa, judge for yourself: soundcloud.com/digitechfx/carcosa-wbuffer
They are off-the-shelf SMD Silicon trannies. It can cop some FF tones as well as good FF-style guitar volume clean-up when you have the AFTER control set low.
What's the first song?
That's the Beastie Boys - Heart Attack Man!
Reminds me of VHOL
Punk Andy is the best kind of Andy.
HEART ATTACK MAN.
Yes
Who else just watches these to hear this guy play
Kikyo Tail I like fuzz lol n I hear some tunes I’ve never heard. That’s why I listen
I watch him to extract his tricks ;)
I watch them to hear him talk
I can’t figure out how he plays with his thumb like that. My thumb doesn’t work that way at all
...yup...😎🤘
This is the first pedal demo I've ever seen that actually had some punk thrashing. Nice going.
Never thought I'd hear NYC hardcore/crossover thrash tones coming out of an Andy video but damn is it satisfying
Yeah grew up listening to Beastie Boys, couldn't resist on this one! Thanks,
Andy

finally a demo that's something other than classic rock and blues rock!
For real. I can actually know what this would sound like for what I’d want to use it for!
HEART ATTACK
HEART ATTACK MAN
Damn I got the chills from the first notes
HEART ATTACK MAAN. My nickname. Super surprised to hear this!
The King in Yellow!
This demo was out of left-field! Not used to hearing Andy rip out Bad Religion type riffs. Awesome!
Your three videos are why I'm getting one. Your song choices are perfect. It's a fuzz-let's hear some doom and punk. Heavy stuff. Great job!
The solo tone was great!
I have one of these and I love it. And it was partly this demo that convinced me to get it. Thanks Andy.
Good guy Digitech. $99 for this awesome pedal. Very impressive. I'm buying one.
Andy always KILLS it!! Such a great artist.
Dude, you're such a great guitar player.
Best pedal salesman ever
The art is awesome on this pedal 😱
King in Yellow inspired I suppose.
Greetings from five years later 👋
Andy is the Paul Rudd of guitar gear dudes.
False because andy is good at what he does. Paul crudd is not

The bass is cracking me up. Now that's a tone.
I bought one. It's a kickass fuzz
I love his playing in every video
Heart Attack Man!!!
this is a really good fuzz pedal
Right on. That is some tasty fuzzy goodness you've got there Andy.
Andy just wrote one of the best punk songs I’ve ever heard 😂
Beastie Boys - Heart Attack Man 👍
such an awesome fuzz, and then i saw the price...it can't be real. i'm getting it.
Oh snap! Thanks for the heads up. I might just snag this one. Been looking for a fuzz pedal lately. Digitech is doing cool things lately
+TheJofrica I agree. The Looking Glass is a great drive that doesn't really sound like any drive I've played. it's a Jem for sure!
LKJ 69 Nice, congrats on a great find. That's always a good feeling. I'm pretty sure I'm about to pull the trigger on this Carcosa Fuzz

amazing pedal, only improvement would be making the bypass switch easier to turn on as it requires a lot of force
andy showcases fuzz with a beastie boys song? heart attack man!

THAT PEDAL ART THOUGH
Heart attack man by beastie boys love it!!
This could be the perfect fuzz for the dirty channel of an orange amp. Or100. An(d)y thoughts?
I use it on a rockerverb 50, tried several fuzzes (big muff, gnarly fuzz). That Dod is a keeper :)
You always pick a good tune to highlight the strength of the pedals. And, yeah, Hank Hill is right; punk Andy sounds good! :-)
Kicking myself for not getting this sooner
Toggle switches on fuzz pedals- so hot right now
on any pedal really
Lol.
I stuck one on my girlfriend, major upgrade.

Totes. I have two. A Blue Steel and Magnum fuzz. So hot right now.

that bass tone is so awesome!
Started sounding good at 5:39.
Andy, you should keep playing punk because holy shit are you good at it
Dudes so good
Hallo.. I like it very much.. can you tell me with wich amp can soud as well for this punk style? ❤
Sounded like SOC's I84 at the beginning... I could've sworn it was haha
So...for post rock or ambient rock, carcosa or...big muff sovtek?
Carcosa is apparently something of a meme for how versatile it is, so I'd go with that. More options, whereas the Sovtek is probably only gonna get you the one sound that might not end up working with your setup.
JHS muffuletta has some tone range to it, but it's in a different, i.e., higher price point...
I bought one used. one thing worries me. When turning the After knob when not playing, you can hear a rustling sound in the speakers. Is this normal?
Normal, it's changing the bias of the transistors if I remember right. That means it's adjusting voltage, which usually sounds scratchy. Enjoy!
Andy, you're the best
wuts dat song at 1:00 with the BASS
With that art I thought it was just a pretty face. But that "Hali" mode really sounded good and useful.

what is the fuzz pedal for the bass and guitar used in the Music Machine
Anyone know the name of the first song? Andy, as always, has outdone himself with this one!!!

Nothing beats Dunlop in the fuzz face department
in fact, this one do it

great fuzz!
Holy crap! Heart Attack Man! That's awesome
Amazingly good
This sounds fantastic! How does it compare to a Muff?
It's very different. The Carcosa is a lot rougher than a muff at the upper gain ranges, and it cleans up better than a muff in the lower gain ranges. I would think of it as a good contrast to a muff rather than a replacement.

Beastie Boys - Heart Attack Man
Beastie boys cover yeah Andy you rock!!!!
What are the first two riffs he played using the black Hagstrom from??
Hi there ! What are the 3 tunes ? I'm so ignorant...
Will it summon the king in yellow?
Does it create interference or trouble with other pedals ( digital delay, phaser ) ??
man i just bought a rufus from suhr last night. thanks alot andy :/
That is a killer fuzz. Probably not as versatile as this one. But just wait, the rufus is built like a tank. Did you get the reloaded version?
+T- Hawk yeah this one looks like it would cover a great deal of fuzz textures. i got the regular one
could we get a bass video for this pedal? You do play the bass for a few seconds in this video but the guitar doesn't stop playing to give us more than one second of bass only tones......

What transistors are in this pedal? Am I wrong in thinking this could hit some silicon fuzzface sounds ?
They are off-the-shelf SMD Silicon trannies. It can cop some FF tones as well as good FF-style guitar volume clean-up when you have the AFTER control set low.
Silicon transistors for sure, i heard it's based on the FZ-1S Maestro Fuzz Tone but it's obviously fitted for modern needs.
No, I don't see the invisible alternate picking.
