The OST is a mess frankly, having watched it as an adult and not been blinded by nostalgia, there's no establishment of this theme being any kind of a main theme with any derivatives used throughout the movie. Any good movie has a recognizable score that you pick up on right away, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Dune, etc.
Remember- No matter where you go... there you are.
The end credits with Buckaroo walking with all his friends as this song plays is my favorite part of the whole movie!
It feels like an anime ost, but its wholesome and live-acted-synced. How could you forget it >
Totally should have been the opening of a sequel where they went across the 9th dimension.
I read somewhere that the song wasn't recorded yet when they filmed the scene, so the actors were walking to "Uptown Girl" by Billy Joel.
