I’m an old white guy that grew up in Salinas, Salad Bowl Of The World, when it was much smaller than it is now. I had the privilege of eating Mexican food from an early age. At the time I didn’t realize how much time and effort went into preparing such delicious dishes. Always loved Taquitos but I must admit, seeing those refried beans being added to the plate really brought back memories of delicious food.
Yes it was always runny. There’s a DTLA restaurant called El Tepeyac (on Evergreen) that serves their taquitos with a heaping mountain of real guacamole.
This the first meal we have when arriving to LA and the last meal before leaving. I have traveled across the globe and have yet to find a better meal. Muchas gracias mi amigos!
This is like homemade just in production mode. Simple ingredients, labor intensive and love. Mis respetos. I live in Fontana and will definitely check it out.

I love this Cielito Lindo! I can't get enough of those taquitos and that salsa it's even better when the taquitos are in the salsa, it's one of a kind. When I go back home I always need to eat there. Placita Olvera is part of my childhood and I loved getting my cucumber with lime, salt and chilito wrapped in plastic wrap, 😋 mmm unpeeling it and taking that first bite was incredible. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.
Cielito Lindo is great. There are several other taquito stands at Olvera Street with different guacamole sauces. Olvera Street has some great eateries including La Luz del Dia at the beginning of the street with its signature carnitas, nopalitos, champurrado and tortillas de mano.
And those taquitos look exactly the same of those in aka Plazita Olvera👌🏻 hmm 🤔 I rather cook them myself!! They are not that good.they taste like fried tamales.( La Plazita)
Grew up down the road in the San Gabriel Valley…Mexican food is my go to comfort food! Those taquitos look like they’re worth a drive home from Northern California😊

As a child my dad would take me to this Taquitos Restaurant, where I grew to love these rolled tacos, along with the green sauce and cheese. And now 60 years later, this is where I go if ever near LA, besides Knott's Berry Farm Chicken Dinner and any Bob's Big Boy.
I was dating a man in LA back in 1975 that took me to Olvera Street to get Taquitos and I have been hooked on them ever since. My son always says to me when we eat at a Mexican restaurant "Mom, that is all you ever order!" Oh well, I love them, that's why I always order them. 😁

Man, those big ass pots and equipment remind me of my Grandma's work kitchen up in Calistoga when she worked as a cook for the workers at Christian Bros. Winery. My parent's would take us yup to stay with her for many summers. She would make us tacos of beans and rice in the cafeteria she ran all the time and the dinners would be all kinds of home made Mexican food. It was glorious! Thanks for posting.
Angelinos know where it's at when it comes to taquitos and Cielito Lindo is what it's at! The taquitos are so good that the restaurant features the recipes on their site knowing that it will not reduce their business one bit. Advice-Go early. Once the lunch hour hour hits the line gets long and there are very few tables at the restaurant.

Came to see food but stayed because of the amount of work that went into the process. In world of speed and automation, it was a blessing to see people connected to the food. Also people have work because the owners dont want to skip steps and worry about money.

I miss Olvera Street, Chinatown, and Philippe's so much. I moved out of L.A. in 2007, and there are only a handful of places that I miss, and this is one of them.
I’m reminded of childhood with my Mom. Loved tacos on Friday nights! Long Beach, California. I never knew how they made these so good! Now I know! Quality and love.
Please understand that this place started more than 50 years ago by rolling taquitos by hand , but because of huge worldwide success some this has to be somewhat modernized which is understandable due to the small space. Please support this and all Olvera street shops/restaurants it is absolutely a cultural experience.
Back when I lived in Vegas and would take the bus back to Southern California once a month to visit my girlfriend...would always have people complaining about a multi hour layover at the train station...I would ALWAYS send them to this place and Philippe's and tell them those are the two best places you can eat while you are stuck waiting for your train or bus connection! Lots of people traveling up to Oregon etc, but a lot of people from out of country. I would also always go to either place when waiting for my girlfriend to pick me up...would get in line and get us both food
I was just there with my daughters about 2 weeks ago, that salsa is delicious and the beans were just as good. The only thing that I have a complaint about is, I wish the taqutios were a little bit more fried. This is a must have when you go and visit Olvera St. I have always enjoyed going there , it is a good place to visit.

I worked at the Olvera street as a teenager in the 80’s, and I would eat there all the time. I never imagined that it was all made from scratch. I had forgotten about this place. I will try to make a trip out there soon looks so good, I can almost remember the taste 😊❤

NO WONDER THEY'RE SO GOOD! All made fresh on site. Some of THE BEST TAQUITOS I've ever had, and that is saying A LOT, considering we cook a lot of Mexican at home.
This explains their almost perfect ratings. So much work goes into these!

Was there a few months ago and enjoyed their food. Also appreciate all the hard work in making fresh food instead of buying frozen. Will definitely stop by next time I'm in the area
