OMG, I laughed out loud! Padden Lake is one of the first lakes that I took my boys kayaking in. Such a great little lake to learn in.

Dan - Thanks for all the great videos. I'd love to see a comparison and on-the-water demo of the Sitka LT and Equinox if you can.

      +1 on that!
I was set on an Equinox, but after more research I'm now in the LT camp. (room to grow) I really dig 'em both. I'm wanting that Sitka by next season.

Hey I met Ethan years ago and went on a road trip with him....from a kayak shop in Redding... I remember only 3 of us were on this trip...drove a lot , paddled a bunch, really fun trip.....wish I would have traded you my Current Designs boat for that Eddyline back then....I still have it but need a shorter easier to haul around and pick up now that Im aging and still want to be out on the water. I live in Florence Or now.

Hey Karen! I kinda remember that trip....how the years fly by. That canoe Dan is in weighs 26 lbs. Now ya know why a canoe is always the first thing I grab for a quick outting.

You saw how bad I was. I don’t think I should be teaching anybody anything until I learn how to do it properly. 🤣

Dan, great video and looks like tons of fun. I have a 14' 6" canoe, a 12' fishing/peddle kayak, and a 10' creek/rec kayak. The canoe is for myself and my two daughters to go float/paddle together, while my wife paddles in a super stable 12' kayak. I love my kayaks for fishing, but man I almost prefer canoes for the fun factor, and I hear they are making a comeback, which is great! Question for you though, is there shame in using a kayak paddle in a canoe? I use it when I am in the back of our canoe with my two daughters with me, mainly because when using a canoe paddle I found myself almost hitting my daughter in front of me in the head. I prefer the canoe paddle for digging in deep over the side, but man the switch between sides is a pain with someone right in front of you when using canoe paddle. Looks stupid and get some mean looks from canoe traditionalists, but it works for me to use the kayak paddle. Thoughts and suggestions? I guess i could do a J stroke and not switch sides? (and teach my older daughter in the front to paddle correctly ;)

If you use a canoe, you should use a canoe paddle and learn a few basic strokes like the J- Stroke that will help keep you steer the canoe every stroke so you don’t have to switch sides. No shame ever from me, but learning to canoe properly will open up so many doors to your paddling.

I thought Lake Padden would be a good place to go for a newbie. I live about 45 minutes from the lake.

I think you can take your water sports very seriously, and still have fun with it. If you *can't* mess around, cut up, and enjoy your hobby/pursuit/passion, then what is the point of doing it?
