They actually did nail quite a few things about the future with their predictions in this film. Video calls, ultra thin wall mounted flat screens, portable virtual reality glasses, retro 80s nostalgia themed bars, personalized targeted advertising, personal drones, wireless digital payments for in-person transactions, fingerprint scanning locks on your home, personal voice activated AI for your home, and so much more.
All of this was as much fantasy back then as flying cars, hoverboards, and self drying/re-sizing clothes.

    - Jennifer got recast because the original actress declined to return to the role: at the time her mother was in treatment for cancer, and she decided to be at her side.
    - The Chicago Cubs is a baseball team that had the longest period dry of titles at the Major League Baseball in the US. In real life 2015 the team indeed reached the World Series (the final series of games that decides the title), but lost it. They won it in 2016, ending over a hundred years of frustration.
    - The first movie was filmed as a stand alone movie, but it got so wildly successful that the studio executives ordered two more. One thing that Robert Zemeckis always says is that, if they were planning to do a trilogy from the beginning, they wouldn't bring Jennifer to the future, as she doesn't add anything to the story. However, Parts 2 and 3 were indeed filmed together, as they realized it was better to make the story cohesive that way.

In a cut scene from the movie, when they're leaving 2015, we see old Biff collapse behind a dumpster, and then disappear - like Marty was about to in the first movie. That's because, sometime between 1985 and 2015, Loraine ended up killing him because she had had enough, so Old Biff doesn't exist anymore.

The reason that old Biff is clutching his heart as he gets out of the Delorean is that he is being erased from existence! A deleted scene shows him fading away, like Marty nearly did in the first movie. The word is that, in 1993 (alternative timeline), Lorraine finally murdered Biff in revenge for all his evil, incidentally with the same gun he used on George in 1973! So Biff essentially ensured power and money for himself...at the cost of his own life!

They didn’t actually think 2015 was gonna be that way. It’s making fun of how older movies and tv depict such crazy futures. Crazy clothes, crazy tech, crazy lingo, etc. Although…
Future things in this movie that actually happened: the rise of ubiquitous cameras; use of unmanned flying drones for newsgathering; widescreen flat-panel television sets mounted on walls with multiple channel viewing; video chat systems; hands-free video games; talking hologram billboards (which have gotten better it seems); wearable technology; tablet computers with fingerprint scanners; head-mounted displays; walking dogs with drones, and payment on personal portable devices. The Cubs did also win the World Series, but in 2016
One of the kids at the video game was a little Elijah Wood!

The reasoning is that if someone wants to break into your car they are going to do it regardless of if its locked or not. Hi Mary. It's awesome you noticed that Beef isn't well when he backs to the future with the Delorean. It happens because, in the original story, when Beef changes his past and became married with Marty's mom, she shot him a few years after 1985 (because of his abusive behaviour) and, in his new future 2015, he doesn't exists anymore. That's why he's not ok when he'is back. There is a scene showing him disappearing, but this scene was cut in the final edition. You can find this scene searching for "back to the future beef death". Eh, the thing about Lorraine shooting Biff was really more or less a throwaway comment from one of the film's producers. We don't know if that actually happened, but it's not implausible, either, since 1985-A Biff would definitely have his enemies.

This was the first film where Michael J. Fox's Parkinson's symptoms started. Despite having been trained by Tony Hawk only 4 years earlier, Fox was surprised to discover that his body didn't remember a thing and he had to re-learn how to skateboard. It took another 2 years before the finger tremors clued him in to see a neurologist.

"The justice system works swiftly in the future now that they've abolished all lawyers." = joke. Laser discs were considered cutting edge tech in the 80s and the alleyway is full of stacks of them = joke.

    Hey Mary!
Nike did in fact create some limited edition self lacing shoes exactly like the ones you see in the movie.
As for hoverboards, they were also developed although not in the way they are in the movie.
To use the real version, you need large metal sheets beneath the hoverboard in order for it to work so wouldn't be any good on grass, paths or pretty much anything else.
We did used to have faxes but they pretty much faded out due to Emails I believe.
I was watching all three of these only yesterday, love the movies.
A great reaction video as always.
Have a wonderful day, take care. ❤

You'll appreciate this then; the fellow in the '50s scenes who keeps saying that Marty picked Biff's pockets is Paul Feig, who was just a stand-up comic at the time, but later became one of the creators/writers of "FREAKS AND GEEKS", and directed the movies BRIDESMAIDS, SPY, THE HEAT, and the female-fronted sequel of GHOSTBUSTERS.

In 2015, on the talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live, on October 21st, there was a surprise appearance by Marty, Doc, and the DeLorean.
What followed was basically a skit with Jimmy and the guys, in which the pair talked about what they thought the year would be like. Jimmy in return would explain what they got right or wrong.
What made things even better was that it was actually Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd reprising their roles.

    - I think this is a reasonable explanation of how Biff from 2015 knew how to use the Delorean, he certainly knows this year's technology and knows how Mr. Fusion works and once inside the time machine, no matter if it takes 1, 5 or 10 years, he will learn how to use it and come back the next minute,
    - Not only Billy Zane is recognized in the movie, we have Casey Siemaszko, who wears the 3D glasses in the first one and here in the second one he is wearing the sunglasses even in the dark, he did several movies in the 80's like Stand By Me and others, I recommend watch his biggest hit, Three O'Clock High.

Texaco (short for "The Texas Company") was a major oil company in the 80's, but it was bought out by a competitor in 2001. In 1985, it had been 81 years since the Chicago Cubs had won the World Series, and it turns out their prediction was only off by 1 year because the Cubs DID win the World Series in 2016 after only 108 years! One of the kids in the diner 6:52 was an 8 year old Elijah Wood.

You made mention near the beginning that Jennifer looked familiar. That’s because Jennifer was now being played by Elisabeth Shue, ‘Aly with an “I” from the Karate Kid. Claudia Wells, the original Jennifer, had personal matters to tend to, so she dropped out of the role.
“So, you’re the SOB stealing my newspapers”. By 2015 the circulation of subscription newspapers delivered to homes was already on a steep decline. Events, local and around the world, were already hitting the internet within minutes of them happening. Physical newspapers were reporting ‘old news’ the day after and were becoming increasing thinner. Unlikely, Mr. Strickland would still have a physical newspaper subscription delivered to his doorstep.

I give them a lot of credit for getting the Cubs finally winning a championship again off by a single year. Didn't get it right with almost everything else but it's pretty amazing they got that one from a simple "the Cubs haven't won in a century" gag to setup the gambling angle.

Everybody focuses on the style, flying cars, etc., that they don't notice the actual predictions that came true: thumbprints for ID was not a thing in 1989, the return of 3D movies, TVs so thin you can hang on the wall, the drone walking the dog and taking the news picture, Google glasses, Florida having a baseball team (Florida didn't have one in 1989), voice activated appliances, and the biggest one: FaceTime.
I think you're too young to realize that things today that we take for granted were not a thing during that time.

so to explain one part of the movie for you, when old Biff returned to 2015, you commented that it looked like he was having a heart attack, in actuality he was being erased from time as his interfearence in the past was changing, and in reality wiping out that future, while in the time machine he was safe, but it caught up to him when he got out. similar to marty fading away in the first film as the potential change of his parents never meeting slowly caught up to him in the future before he stopped it.
