Hey subfuries! This video was definitely something new for me, but if you enjoyed it, let me know of other battles you'd like to see down below. This could be in the Elder Scrolls world, Lord of the Rings, Avatar, or whatever. Hope you enjoyed it! Question of the Day: which Tamrielic province is your favourite? While I adore Morrowind, I actually prefer the *land* of Valenwood lore-wise. Tangled, dense, treelife and all. ~ Tim
Hello again, Tim, This...was... amazing. The time and effort put into editing clearly shows, and the video came out awesomely. Though I am not much of a Skyrim-buff, I am a bit of a history/military-buff and cinematic depictions of military strategy and engagements always interest me. The narration of the battles and strategy, as well as the politics behind some of the decisions made were also well described and laid out. I am certain that Mishka is well-pleased. Thanks for the video, and definitely looking froward to the next one. Staying nerdy, Carlos T.
Thanks Carlos! I hope to do more of this style depicting different battles from a number of universes. Making this proved I could do it, so we'll see where this all goes from here. Mishka was well pleased #allhailMishka ~ Tim
Hey, just want you to know, this channel is awesome. It's great to see someone be so fascinated with the lore in the Elder Scrolls and Avatar and whatnot. In fact, seeing you bring up Fullmetal Alchemist being on the same level of Avatar has inspired me to finally watch it. Also, I was reading a history book in Morrowind yesterday, and I realized I was reading it in your voice. Thanks for this channel.
Also it should be noted that the "cunning" and success of Naarifin can be attributed to the Daedric Artifact known as the Orb of Vaermina. I feel like such a crucial point, as a tool that can literally spy on any part of your enemy without needing to be there, would be mentioned as a key reason why the Thalmor were so successful during the Great War.
I really enjoy this video, the Great war has always been interesting to me while playing Skyrim . A video about the Camoran Usuper would be awesome. Vallenwood is my province too because of the migratory cities trees (sadly they became rooted though). Crowns and Forebears in Hammerfell would make a nice video too especially after the province seceded from the empire after the Great war.
It should be noted that all of these successions happened during what remained of the Septim Empire, and after the 10 years of rulership by Potentate Ocato, the Empire itself would disintegrate and fall into civil war, and the Stormcrown Interegnum began. During this Interegnum was when the Mede Dynasty under Titus Mede, a Colovian Warlord would finally be established, going as far as conquering and reuniting much of the formal Imperial Provinces like Hammerfell, Skyrim, and Daggerfall. It's just that the introduction made it seemed like the Empire just switched hands from the Septims to Medes when in actuality it was a period of massive instability and chaos which followed the Potentate's death.
The truth of the matter is that we simply don't know exactly how bad the Empire's losses were or how many resources they had left. But the fact that Hammerfell was able to hold off a Thalmor invasion all on its own implies that the Empire had more than enough men and resources to keep fighting.
@Thorus Zwolf - Aren’t you a Stormcloak? It’s saddens me how you wrote “ For the emperor” when you seem to argue against pro-imperials and call them “trolls” but do your thing I suppose.🤷♂️
Can't wait until your followup to this on the Battle of the Red Ring. Also I would like your thoughts on the potential setting for Elder Scrolls 6. I think Valenwood would be the best setting. Valenwood is under Aldmeri Dominion rule so it would be interesting to see the conflict from the Dominion's point of view. In Skyrim it was stated that the Dominion carries out purges against non Altmer, so that could be a great plot point.
Good video. It sounds like the dominion only did well because of the suprising military weakness of the empire and the suprise of their initial attack. If a second war happens I don't feel like it will go as well for them because the empire will be ready
>Give Markarth to Stormcloaks during negotiations quest >They slaughter Thalmor embassy here >Join the Empire in civil war and bring it back to the Imperial control Politics 100
So, I don't know if you'll read this. (I hope you do though!) But, if you're taking suggestions for videos, perhaps you could do a video on the rise of the Third Aldmeri Dominion? A lot of people (I blame Skyrim.) believe that the Altmeri are all National Socialists when that couldn't be farther from the truth of the matter.Perhaps show some light as to what caused their rise, their goals and other such things? However, I would love to see some more content on the battles of the Great War, and other such conflicts that plagued the Elder Scrolls. As for my favourite province? Well, it has to be the capital of the Aldmeri Dominion, Alinor. Or what was formerly the Summerset Isles. It has a lack of lore in some parts, but their culture is amazing -- and with the coming of Elder Scrolls online Summerset, perhaps it can shed some light on the Altmer. And stop people from thinking they're all National Socialists when we aren't!....Ahem, but I digress.
I do read comments! It's especially easy on my Elder Scrolls content, as fewer people watch them. I totally agree on Alinor, and can't wait to see where they take it in ESO. I actually quite like the game, despite what others say. That's a great video idea, and I'll look into it more. ~ Tim
Imagine if they did a game of this elder scrolls where you could pick whether to side with the imperials or the thalmor. That would be lit u could go to the imperial city. I don’t mean eso either
The reason why the Empire was losing were because the emperor didnt know the enchanting loop Exploit. I mean, imagine a Legion of imperial soldier using 18388495858% enhance one-handed armor
Does anyone know if the Empire rebuilt Kvatch after the Oblivion crisis? I don't think the Dominion took Chorrol. Purely due to the fact that they were taken unaware when General Deceanus, arrived in Cyrodil from Hammerfell with most of his Legion's (leaving some of his force behind to help the Redguards fight the Dominion in Hammerfell). If the Thalmor took Chorrol, then surely they would've noticed a large force enter Cyrodil to assist the Emperor Titus Mede II.
Small issue I had right at the start: you said "it was the year XXX" in past tense then immediately switched to present tense. Threw me for a loop right away haha
Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I recorded those two bits at different times and had it all edited together by the time I realised. It annoyed the hell out of me when I heard it. ~ Tim
"Though this might be plagued by bias, the Imperial Palace was burned, the White Gold Tower looted, and all manners of atrocities were carried out by the vengeful Elves." If anything I think you might be downplaying the atrocities of the Thalmor with that bias statement, the Thalmor were unkind to the non-elven population and were even goin to attempt a huge ritual of sacrifice. Not to mention their desire to forfeit any evidence of Talos Worship and Imperial authority led them to some vandalising spree during their 1 year occupation.
Hey this is unrelated but deals with "HTTYD3". I realized thatmany of the movies and episodes is influenced with Norse mythology. So i got to thinking what event could create such a predicament for hiccup and toothless. Well what if blood fist is able to start ragnorok by using the midgard serpent a "Dragon". This could lead to many troubling situations for the duo. Such a creature could be used to create devastating consequences. What do you think?
Yeah but the stormcloaks are just patriots who want to fight.. Majority of skyrim still wants to be with the empire but if stormcloaks do win independence then if the aldemeri attack ALL of Skyrim's population will have to fight back and in the past Skyrim was able to be independent with no problem
The city of crystal. A shining beacon. To sailors a time, they knew they'd reached home when the morning sun on their backs felt cold in the glow the great ports that Alinor promised. Now? The city lies a dim echo of itself. The Thalmor. Riding a zealous wave of jingoist rhetoric following the Oblivion Crisis, they rose swiftly in popularity amongst the 'highborn' caste. They draped their flags. They stomped their boots championing Elven might. Boots that trod the soil sodden with blood of those who dare disagree. I write this in haste. The new "justicars," nothing but rabid dogs slavering at their master's next bone they are thrown come looking for apostates and iconoclasts. My Mother was a Breton. Sweet Mara. Sweet.. She was taken. I fear I'm next. If you read this. Divines. I hope you see Alinor shine again. There a thousands of stories like this one. The grand palace, that once sat Queen Ayrenn and songs of the glory days of the Isles, now fall to hushed whispers and plottings of mad tyrants. The Aldmeri Dominion in Skyrim were a great touch.
Hey Tim, I liked this video and I think you should do more of them but this seemed familiar to another channel called Bazbattles (a bit TO familiar). I'm not being cynical nor reducing you to a filthy plagiarizer (or at least i hope i'm not) but if your using him as inspiration then i think you should include his name. Cheers mate, hope you understand
Oh, don't get me wrong. This is definitely meant to be BazBattles style, but BazBattles didn't invent the style. I wanted to emulate that look and place it in a context the community knows and loves. Historia Civilis and another few channels use a similar style because it's effective. The style doesn't really belong to anyone. That said, I'll recommend those two channels next video I make of this kind because they're fantastic and they were an inspiration. ~ Tim
Im surprised Morrowing or black marsh did not take advantage of the situation. Perhaps they knew they need the empire as a buffer against the dominion?
If I am not wrong, Black Marsh was busy invading Morrowind since it has been weakened by the eruption, the argonians actually succeded and took parts of Morrowind's southern land. Both provinces and the Thaldmor dominion seems to have a neutral relationship

You should visit. We have Middle Earth.
~ Tim
Ranton holy shiet
Aaah, I see you're going with the BazBattles style of storytelling. Very interesting.
I love me some BazBattles. Also check out Historia Civilis!

Hello Future Me I have. Pretty good stuff.
BazBattles is meh. Historia Civilis though is fucking amazing.

Watched this years ago, coming back to refresh the memories now
Thanks so much for covering this. It was always hard imagining what the war was like back in the day. This really helps.

This comment was really nice to read! Thank you so much, and I hope I can keep creating content you love. I hope you're enjoying FMAB!

YAS my dude, so awesome! You're doing amazing lately
Player Charakter (Oblivion): "Should i help? Nope, i have my own island now"

Titus Mede II sacrificed himself to the brotherhood to save the empire I respect that.
Summerset is my favorite. We call it Alinor this days
Same, it has beautiful aesthetics! I'd love to take my dogs there haha.
Very well done, Look forward to more like this!!! High Rock is my Favorite, Cheers
I can’t wait for more of these!
Neither!

Nice timing, have just started back on skyrim

Morrowind!!! The best TES-Game in my opinion. The soundtrack on the start screen... goose bumbs

I love this kind of videos for battles please do more

I love the storytelling in ELDER SCROLLS 💯👌
I am not a skyrim type of guy. But maybe I should.
Vicente Ortega Rubilar same
As a guy with 360 hours of play who has only just finished the base game, you're missing out.
As a guy with 944 hours , some 15 characters and gone through many mods, it gets boring eventually
@@steelcladCompliant as a guy with at least 3000 hours (been playing since 9th grade) it eventually gets super boring
Teddy Couch same with every game tho
Honestly, the geopolitics both past and present of the Elder Scrolls series is absolutely fascinating.
The Aldmeri might win the occasional battle, but the Empire will always strike back!! Long live the Empire! Glory to the Emperor!
The witch elves will pay for their treatchery
The truth of the matter is that we simply don't know exactly how bad the Empire's losses were or how many resources they had left. But the fact that Hammerfell was able to hold off a Thalmor invasion all on its own implies that the Empire had more than enough men and resources to keep fighting.
lovely video mate i'd really enjoy more of this
Here I am, six years later, getting into Skyrim and its lore and finding out Hello Future Me passed through this phase as well hahaha
Fantastic video... And with ES Lore!! Easily one of my favourite TH-camrs right now! :D
Why thank you!
