I'll be honest, Space Jam is particularly a success because of Michael Jordan. He was, and to an extant still is, a pretty well liked celebrity. I don't think Lebron is as universally liked, not that he's awful, just not on the same level. While it was also very corporate, they managed to, largely, restrain themselfs. Space Jam isn't really something you can write a sequel to without changing the premise. Otherwise you just end up with a near-copy. Even just changing the sport would've opened the writers up to different aesthetics and visual gags. A Space Jam Olympics, maybe? At the very least that would've been a marketable gimmick.

One of the biggest sins of this movie is its run time. As flawed as the original Space Jam is, its running time was reasonably short and the story was primarily centered around the main premise of Looney Tunes playing basketball with Michael Jordan. Space Jam 2 has no business clocking in just before the 2 hour mark. The writers really over complicated the premise while trying to justify this Warner Bros. Universe which was a complete waste of time. Heck, the movie barely even had any basketball.
Oh no. Don't tell me. Space Jam 2 was just another attempt at creating a cinematic universe, wasn't it? That would explain too much about why the movie is structured the way it is. I don't know how they could make the movie more corporate than the original, but they somehow did it.

At the very least, this movie gave me a newfound appreciation for the original Space Jam. It's a weird movie to be sure, but it fully embraces its weirdness without trying to be ironic or painfully self-aware; it just let's the Looney Tunes be the Looney Tunes. It doesn't try to justify or apologize for anything it offers. Space Jam basically comes out saying "We're gonna do all this weird shit and have a good time, and maybe you will too! Or maybe not; we don't care! It's time to slam now!"
Meanwhile, Space Jam 2: The Search for More Money is like "Hey remember all that stuff you liked? Well here's even more stuff! That means you'll like it even more, right? Right? Please say you do! I'm not lame, honest! Would someone lame have all this cool stuff? Please love me!"

I don't get why people are like "Yeah, the original wasn't good, but it was fun."
It kinda sounds pretentious, like people are thinking "It couldn't have been good, it was Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan playing basketball. That concept is just too dumb to make a good movie. Maybe the only reason why I liked it was because I was a dumb kid who liked dumb things, and the movie was dumb but funny."
Just pointing out that Ebert, one of the most respected film critics ever, said it was a good movie, rated it 3.5/4, and also put it on his list of his 10 favorite sports movies. Saying that you think it isn't a good movie is saying that you think you have better taste and judgement than Roger Ebert.

I can understand the reasoning for removing controversial material, but it just creates an even bigger problem, especially if it's easily solvable. Take for instance, the removal of the crows in the Dumbo remake; yes, the crows in the original film are racist stereotypes, but by removing them, you are essentially just saying: "Oh, that never happened" and just digging yourself a deeper hole. And what's worse is that the whole issue can be easily solved by not writing them as African American stereotypes and hiring Black voice actors.

Worst outcome of this movie; LeBron James patting himself on the back because he's a "producer" now. And he has the temerity to discuss privilege.

Space Jam 2: Electric boogaloo is just a nostalgia bait. I knew it from the start. They just want you to point with a finger and say "Hey look! I've seen it before! Isn't that amazing!? What a cool reference!". This film just seems like a soulless shell, there is nothing charming. Space jam one was the product of it's time, and it was fun and it wasn't just a cash grab focused on nostalgia. Here we have literally every property of Warner Bros, come to see the game, while before that, they were showing other movie references, OBVIOUS ONES, of movies Warner brothers owns. It's like a weird flex to show how mamy properties they have in their pockets.
