The 8800xt would definitely be priced higher than what expected. If they really wanted to reach the market share that they want, it would probably hurt their wallet. As what they needed to do is to place the 8800xt the same way they did the rx 480/580 4/8gb. Which was around the price of nvidia's xx60, meaning around 4060/4060ti/5060/5060ti at $350-450. Which I definitely hope they would, but I don't believe they will. But logically, that's the highest way to increase their market share, if that's really their goal, which is to complete with the most popular segment. It has always been the 60's cards or 70's. But recently xx70 cards are getting bad rep due to low vram count while having a powerful chip.
im incredibly hopefully yet cautious about the 8800xt because i was going to buy a 4080s but i wanted to wait until the new gpus come out. if i can get a great gpu at around 500-700 dollars, iwill swap to team red
[edit] Not sure why I forgot the 580 was built on the 256-bit die in Alchemist. [/edit] Intel likely does not believe it can profit off making a larger 256-bit die. They likely took a large bath on Alchemist and want to limit their exposure with Battlemage. By reducing the number of designs, it significantly reduces costs. I believe I heard that it was over 100 million dollars to tape out a single design so that's a big savings there and reduced risk that they cannot make it back from selling the 256-bit cards.

Regardless, I'm interested since I need an AMD GPU for a gaming/emulation rig using Bazzite. If I can get a potentially improved 7900 XTX that consumes less power... and hey, maybe it is quite a bit more affordable... I'm all for it.
You are ok with 8800xt to be 499bucks?!???
Are you ok in the head???
Reese looked cool with the halo reflections in his glasses. Had the old springy googlely eyes effect 🥸
Sounds good - I'll weait for the release to see it's performace.
Personally, I think that when AI implodes on itself, Wong's going to find himself in hot water because he made Nvidia go all in on it.
I can only see the 8800XT managing 4080 performance if the power draw is at least in the high 200s. Even then I'm skeptical.
Intel just signed a mil contract, they're not going anywhere.
I wonder if AMD will release an enhanced version of the 8800 XT. So like the 8800 XTX or 8850 XT
im incredibly hopefully yet cautious about the 8800xt because i was going to buy a 4080s but i wanted to wait until the new gpus come out. if i can get a great gpu at around 500-700 dollars, iwill swap to team red
[edit] Not sure why I forgot the 580 was built on the 256-bit die in Alchemist. [/edit]
Intel likely does not believe it can profit off making a larger 256-bit die.
The consensus so far from everyone everywhere seems to be that forcing Gelsinger out was a mistake. Guess we'll see if the new guy can raise the share price enough for investors to sell before letting the ship capsize completely.
they got rid of him because of not focusing on AI while he's trying to stop the boat from sinking
Whats worse? The black nail polish in this vid or Linus wearing sandals and socks? xD
glass flare super annoying
I bought a Samsung monitor. 240hz 4k. Very happy with that decision.
Pat Gelsinger was CEO for 3.5 YEARS. Can't blame the guys before him for everything he had plenty of opportunity to right the ship. That's like blaming the previous president for the current president's problems, and no one every does that lol.
NZXT?
Reeces gonna blind us with that light 🕯️
Still be a cold day in hell before I ever buy an AMD GPU.
NZXT is in the news... surprised it wasn't mentioned
WTH is that Reese lighting setup?
Has your 4th kid come yet? Can we start calling you Big Daddy Tech?
AMD products often look amazing before they come out. Then they underwhelm and AMD price them terriblely.
Im hoping intel has a 770 coass and is just holding off untill the 5000/8000 series launch
Nvidia dropping the RTX 5080 at 899$ 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lol when he said that I was like “Wtf are you on”
Nvidia card priced at that range will most likely be 5070Ti
@@thesilentassassin1167regular 5070
@thesilentassassin1167 Can I get a timestamp on that one, need to make a gif. He's going to be so sad when Lord Jensen decries the peasant rumors of prices so low. 5090 $2399, 5080 $1699, 5070, $999.

The 8800xt will be north of $700 for reference and $800 for AIBs.. Getting 4080 performance for something like $500 is a long dead pipe dream.
It would get destroyed by a 5070ti at that price range 500-600 is the only price range that makes sense
😢
it has cheaper gddr6 memory, has a smaller die monolithic design. everything about it screams 'price/perf'. 499 to 599. nvidia will respond with a 5070 ti super 18gb, but the damage will be done. the true bloodbath will happen in the summer when AMD decides to drop it sub 499 price, and nvidia definitely won't be able to compete against that or they'll take a loss.
Put that computer on a shelf or something, so you don't have to keep picking it up! It makes me nervous every time you do it. haha
AMD said they are not going for the performance crown. They want a much bigger slice of the market. U dont get that with a single card that costs 700$. I am thinking 600$ MSRP at most.
why did you stop updating your apple podcasts page with new episodes? do they not give as much revenue?
They did Pat dirty plz don't go 🙏
