For £100 that's basically a lottery win! Not jealous at all... I'd have given you £100 just for that seatpost, even more for the pedals. A hell of a result. Looking forward to seeing your M900 build - you've inspired me to blow the cobwebs off mine for another video.
Ha ha, thanks man. The seller read my message but didn't reply, he was weary of scams and I'd mentioned PayPal so I sent a second message (nearly didn't bother) and a day later he replied 🙏😁
Damn what a beauty ! Got the video suggested by the youtube algo, instant click. Amazing and interesting to see this groupset on this kind of bike. The bike would have deserved to be pimped to become an hipster man in his forties but i'm sure you will something nice with these parts. Cheers from france
Oh that's great to hear, thanks TH-cam ha ha, also thanks to you for watching. It's a real shame to pull it apart but it was the wrong size for me sadly.
Yeah it's not just mindless ripping apart. If it's any consolation I have three other retro bikes that are complete and slowly being done to perfection that will land on the channel soon. It's taking so long to get the parts though.
@@TheRetroBiker That my comments have context. I bought a Univega Boralyn (research if you want) in 91', weight weinied with 3x8 full XTR which I still own; here's the painful part. Thumb shifters gummed up, I took it to a Dumb Ass Bike Shop that convinced me current Deore was better. All that remains is my rear and front derailleur and the rest was scrapped. Deore was crap, failed quickly and feels like shit. I've been chasing a go back ever since so seeing all those beautiful parts on a complete untouched bike just... hurt.
Oh man, the amount of 90s bikes I come across that have had an early 2000s refresh is so sad. You can always tell, v brakes and shifters normally, riser bars etc too 😳
Wow!.....I would clean that up and keep everything as is!......What a beauty!
I'd have been tempted if it was 60cm 😳
@@TheRetroBiker Feel free to send me the crappy old frame👀
@@hendrixinfinity3992Assuming it really is 653, that frame may be unique. Not seen it in any Dawes catalogue.
WHAT a bike for £100, holy sh!t mate that is AMAZING!
I couldn't believe it!!!!
@@TheRetroBiker me too! 😁

Thanks man, the drive home I was super excited, had to film and share that. This sort of this does not happen often 😁
GIT!!! Super envious. I love those 24 hours of suspense before they reply. Well done for finding it!! 🎉

I had a X300 4.0l for years ,nice to see them still on the road, great cars.
Oh nice one, I'll be doing a video on her soon. Mines the 3.2, lovely smooth engine with 73k on it.
Forgot they had a cantilever version of xtr. The seatpost is cool too.
You know even though it didn't come across in the video my favourite part is that seat post 🤣

Excellent!
What an incredible bike! A crime watching you strip this for parts… what a great urban cycle.
I know, man if it was my size I'd have kept it in one piece. If it helps the parts are going towards some awesome builds!
@@TheRetroBiker 'Makes a little more sense in that light otherwise, almost criminal✌🏽

Those are the Ti bolts for the crankset dude, they've just lost the outer metal covers so don't bin them or the washer on the back of them!
Oh nice, that's cool though, I passed them on to the buyer of the chainset 😁👍
What a find.... 100 quid 🤣🤣
I know, still can't get over it!
Lucky bastard!!! LOL
I've got to agree 💯👍
Why was their xtr on a road bike
It's a touring bike, think xtr lends itself well, tough and lightweight.
Is it HOT 🔥!!!!?
Hot as in stolen? Noooo, did you watch the video?
I used to love my racer. My first major crash was on it christmas day lkolol
Oh no, what bike was it?
Wow! What a bargain! Is it a Dawes Super Galaxy?
If I'm honest I really don't know what this one was, is a Super Galaxy titanium?
@@TheRetroBiker Usually Reynolds 531 double butted I think
Oh maybe it's the ultra that's titanium 🤔
Could be a super galaxy plus? Def at least a super galaxy, 653 frames were only used on Dawes top of the range bikes, quite rare.
Wonder if maybe it was a custom spec bike. Came from SJS in Bridgwater so wouldn't be surprised.
