When you're learning the Goblet Squat there are a few aspects of the exercise that you want to consider. When squatting in general (or working with weights), there's always biomechanics involved so understanding them is crucial.
At first, the Goblet Squat is primarily a Front Squat. Front Squats differ vastly from Back Squats because of the aforementioned biomechanics. After understanding the biomechanical standpoint of the exercise, you want to take a look at your mobility.
Mobilizing the hip, knee and ankle joint is necessary to perfect your Goblet Squat technique. Another thing that you might want to use is an easy tool to help you move better when doing the Goblet Squat: The Wedge.
A wedge is like a weight lifting shoe: It elevates your heels to increase your ankle mobility. This will help your upper body to keep it as upright as possible and improves your overall position as well.

I've been training for about six months with kettlebells and I'd been struggling with the goblet squat since I moved from a 16kg to a 24kg kettlebell. I was feeling it more in my elbows and lower back than my quads and glutes.
I've tried out a few reps with this technique and it feels SOOOOO much better. Thanks a lot, got yourself a subscriber here.

The best I can do are back squats. My knees are shot; surgery on my right knee, bone spur on my left knee and am physically unable to do a proper front squat. In my youth, I could do that squat all the time, but no longer in my senior years. But I continue exercising however, and perhaps one day, I will be able to do a proper front goblet squat!

I just had a lightbulb moment. I find it really hard to do a goblet squat - cannot get very low without rounding my back - but the other day I tried a back squat and did it without problems. I have been wondering why - and because of this video I just realised that it is probably because my knee/ hip flexibility is poor. I have excellent ankle mobility. (I have arthritis in my hip.)
So I think I will switch to back squats. Thank you.

This is truly the old skool ... ASS TO DA GRASS... method I was taught even with back squats...whew talk about hardcore days 😂.
At 6ft7 I prefer goblets squat as its easier to squat and actually feel the movement considering I benefit and prefer a wide stance.
A helpful tip also ( I know you know this Gregory) is to pause at the bottom n use elbows to push away at the knees. Sometimes I do that at various times thru reps and especially on my last rep. Am sure I look badass holding a 75lb db like that in gyms 😝...lil do they know its not heavy really with 4x10 scheme😁

It's weird how goblet squat feels so natural to me and I can get so deep with my feet pointed extremely outwards with the perfect posture keeping my back straight with no struggle. But whenever I do back squat, my knees start showing issues and my lower back hurts. Don't know the reason for this but I prefer Goblet Squat cuz I feel way stronger in them and it feels natural to me as opposed to back squats.
