- Newly mounted Bridgestone Potenza 295/35 R18's, balanced to +/- 2 grams at various speeds.
Yes, this is approximately 295 mph in tire rotation speed:
5000 rpm / .51 6th gear = 9800 driveshaft rpm
9800 / 2.50 rear ratio = 3900 wheel rpm
3900 rpm / 798 rev per mile (tire specs) = 4.9 miles per minute = 295 mph
Theoretical top speed of the car given the current horsepower and coefficient of drag: 270 mph
Estimated theoretical standing mile speed: 220 mph
Fastest standing mile to date: 191 mph @ 6300' altitude • 2018 NORC 1 Mile Shootout
Car: 1986 Chevy Camaro Z28, registered and street legal
Car purpose: Cruising and legal open road racing (SSCC, BBORR, etc.) • 2018 NORC Main Race - ...
Engine: 540 ci (8.8 L) aluminum big block, intercooled F1-R Procharger on E-85
Drivetrain: T-56 Magnum transmission with GForce 1-4 upgraded gears (stock 5th/6th, which changes the factory .50 to .51.), Moser rear end, Strange Ford 9" rear center section with 2.50 gears on an Eaton Truetrack differential

A static speed test like this does not take into account the friction against the road surface. When tires heat due to friction they get soft but its not uncommon for tires to work way above they're safe range. When your going 295 on the road don't take it as a surprise if they delaminate.
If that jack failed you would have an unforgettable burnout!
Could you imagine if that jack failed
it's cool watching the outer bead hold on for dear life when the sidewalls stretch at 295
This tire is being rotated at nearly 300 MPH.
Okay I'm glad to see it's on a lift and then also on a jack as backup. All I saw was the jack in the thumbnail and came here just to watch someone spin up there tires to 300 mph on a single floor jack lol
Ahh, the algorithm brings us all together to watch a tire spin.
Seems like you'd want to remove the sticker balancing at those speeds lol
Crazy how the tire goes from being seated on the rim to almost being pulled off 😳..
6 year old video out of nowhere.
That's a lot of faith in a floor jack.
It's amazing to see how the tyre was able to go in one direction and then immediately the opposite without so much as stopping In-between.
190 mph and only 3200 RPM? Damn, you’ve got some gearing in that Camaro
Wow what an impressive build you my friend have earned this subscriber.
Recommended on thanksgiving 2021, wonder when you’ll be recommended!
little to no vibration at all.. superb
The algorithm works in mysterious ways, and takes 5-10 years
Balance with road force machine, works great simulates tire on road plus picks up imperfections in tire with force on it.
Subbed just cause. This popped up in my recommended.
