I recognize Sacco's books are hauntingly powerful, and I do share every single word he says in this most remarkable conversation with Chris. Alas, I've never been sensitive at all to his graphic art -- personally more attracted by the early Brad Holland b&w production, or by Jean 'Moebius' Giraud's comics. (A sheer matter of aesthetic preferences, though).
Harris and MSM still talk about mass rapes that there is no evidence whatsoever of and not a word spoken about the fact that the IOF themselves, killed many Israelis that day.
Sacco is such a great cartoonist and an awesome person to boot, Thank you for having him on and for working closely with him on raising awareness to the atrocities being committed in Gaza.
I've just gone into my boxes of books and pulled out my copy of Footnotes in Gaza. I've carried it with me from 2010 to several different places I've lived. I don't keep all the books I buy. The cartoon format somehow makes the hideous reality more real.Thank you both.
I first read Palestine during Operation Cast Lead. That was my first glimpse into the reality of the occupation and since then have come to own every Joe sacco work up to the latest discussed in the video. I hugely hugely recommend Chris and Joe's book mentioned "days of destruction days of revolt". Essential reading even now.
Great wise men and clearly reasoning greatly wisely without side shows, thank you and thank you v much for your compassions to fight for the weak and voiceless poor citizenry a cross world wide,
Thanks for the talk Chris, I first read Joe Sacco in collage. I took a side course and the professor who was a jewish lady. she spend about a month disscussing Joe's Palestine book.
I just got done watching an interview by Matt Kennard w/ Noam Chomsky. He absolutely concurred that this genocide would not, COULD NOT have happened w/o the aid and assistance of the U.S. I do believe it cost him and Kamala the election. Maybe not completely but certainly highly contributory.
Joe: I don’t know how I’d behave if I were living under the occupation. ~ Nor do I know how I’d behave, but I think I’d probably find some way to resist. Nevertheless, there are far too many people who don’t even think in terms of walking in the shoes of others.
History is replete with examples of our ancestors violently resisting monarchies, feudalism, communism, fascism etc etc just dozens and dozens of examples. Jewish people see their own struggles as expressing their humanity, but they can’t extend this same humanity to those who they subjugate and abuse. Which is perfectly in line with history.
Such a damned good conversation between to outstanding journalists, humanitarians, & truth tellers! Much respect, gentlemen, keep using your platform to inform & educate!
Isn't there anyone else who understood October 7th as an act of rebellion by an oppressed people? The parallel is the Indigenous people in the Americas fighting back against the colonial invasion. I would never characterize that resistance as terrorist or unjustified. I believe that there is a difference between oppressor violence and liberation resistance.
in spite of his lines are very clear but calm indeed. there is no emotion, because of that it is rather truly powerful. not only his lines but his voice i hear. i could not move front of the screen of my laptop for a while, untuil i started to type the comment. i feel chill, some how more than when i watch the reality of the videos with the bursting tears. --it happened--,--it could be happened again--,the message is unignorable.
Thank you both for this work. I learned about Palestine in the 80s as a little girl watching the news before going to school. Confused in my child mind I could not understand why people were being killed. I have been to Malta twice and I love the country and I have gone to the tunnels were people hid to try to protect themselves from the war.
The last couple of days I've thought a lot about much I would NOT have felt different if Kamala Harris was inaugurated last Monday. I absolutely admire your courage and eloquence. Thank you gentlemen!
So many of our police forces have "benefitted" (sick) from Israeli training ...see the 14 gun shots that riddled the body of Tortuguita who sat on the ground hands up when executed by the cops at Cop City in Atlanta, GA.
This is such a heartfelt and honest conversation. It is hard for me to listen but I can’t stop. Thank you. I am familiar with the work of both of you and I thank you for that as well. Your book, Joe, will be my next purchase. Hope it won’t be too hard to get.
I watched this excellent interview😢 twice. Joe Sacco's drawings are a visoral representation of the past, present and a foreboding reminder of what can continue. Chris, as always, bringing his experience and truth educating all of us in real time. I was introduced to Edward Said in the eighties whille taking a Peace Studies course at McMaster University in Canada. The focus was in The Other which was the foundation of Said's book, Orientalism, which should be required reading starting in high school. From there i started doing my own research in to Palistine and the Nakba. When October 7th happened my first and only thought was, they (the Israelies) are going to massacre them (the Palestinians).
I love Joe Sacco ‘s work . He was a unique “ voice in the wilderness “ when he first published the Palestine series in the 1990’s . Much appreciation for both his keen eye for visual detail and moral compass . Thank you for giving him a platform to reach an even wider audience , which he deserves . Chris Hedges .. though .. if one took a drink every time he uses the words “ genocide - hegemon - oligarch - corrupt - fascist Moral bankruptcy “… I would be passed out by the end of every one of his one hour shows
44:00 - "Moral injury" was a thing only soldiers experienced. After watching the genocide in real time, every American (at least) has suffered a moral injury. "TV brought Vietnam into our living room.: The internet grought genocide into our... "private" space.
For Joe Sacco, A Poem: IRON CLICK I am terrified, America. Of the iron click of your human contact. And after this- the winding-sheet of your selfless ideal love. A boundless love - like a poison gas. This poem was written by D.H. Lawrence in 1923. Winding-sheets is what they called body-bags 100 years ago.
the work of Joe Sacco and Chris Hedges is very important. Reading Joe Sacco's comics is a good thing you do for yourself, but not only that. I've given as present his comics, and I've also been given one :-), to young people who want to become journalists (I know some...), I say: read and listen to their work. Thank you for this very essential conversation.
Great stuff! So good to listen to sane people....makes me feel less alone during these turbulent, shocking and outrageous times....Thanks for being with us!!!!
I relate to wat joe says abt his reaction to the bombing of gaza ? And even seeing it today ? The ruins ? Now its the westbank n full deployment of a modern army in a town in its own country making a war on a small group of palestinian home owners ? Fascism at its most murderous !!
Excellent interview. I am so glad something like this is getting out. I have felt the the Israelis are doing genocide for some time.I wonder if the Holocaust in Germany has somehow given the Israelis permission to do all of the genocide they want ever since the partition, and by promoting the history of the holocaust is a method for maintaining, in the world view, the privilege of continuing their genocide.
Two geniuses- were so lucky for their collaboration, a great treat!!
Thank you, good men. The world appreciates you. 🙏🏻🕊️🍉🌴
i hope we have more like Chris in this generation ...From East Africa
Definitely, Chris is a gem. Hello from East Africa too
Oh wow, didn't know of Sacco before, his artwork is so powerful, so haunting, so incredible... I learn SO much from Chris Hedges' interviews...
Much love to you both, you are total heroes. Still fighting here in the UK as best we can, against our own set of political monsters and cowards.
Same here in the usa. Things are going from bad to worse by the minute.
Chris and Sacco are two of the best reporters in the west. Glad they are still working on this issue.
What a combination
Thank you Chris for having Joe on your pod
You two are great together
Standing up for Gaza and humanity !
Free Palistine!
Harris and MSM still talk about mass rapes that there is no evidence whatsoever of and not a word spoken about the fact that the IOF themselves, killed many Israelis that day.
Joe Sacco's work is absolutely brilliant,
Thank you Mr. Sacco and Mr. Hedges.
Sacco is such a great cartoonist and an awesome person to boot, Thank you for having him on and for working closely with him on raising awareness to the atrocities being committed in Gaza.
That was very illuminating. Thanks chris and joe for an edifying exchange 🇵🇸✌️
I've just gone into my boxes of books and pulled out my copy of Footnotes in Gaza. I've carried it with me from 2010 to several different places I've lived. I don't keep all the books I buy. The cartoon format somehow makes the hideous reality more real.Thank you both.
Yes. I've found the same having read his books.
Sacco & Hedges - a brilliant collaboration.
Great wise men and clearly reasoning greatly wisely without side shows, thank you and thank you v much for your compassions to fight for the weak and voiceless poor citizenry a cross world wide,
Brilliant program. Greatest respect for you both.
Academic institutions aren't really academic institutions any more. They're academic corporations.
Exactly
Indoctrination centers of “Higher Learning.”
Exactly 💯
💯 correct
Sadly true!
Thanks for keeping on shining the light
Sacco’s panels shatter the soul. Gaza is one graphic novel that ought to remain in every school library no matter what the Moms for Liberty may try.
Excellent disussion, gentlemen.
So excited to see this in my queue! I love Sacco so much. Thank you, Chris.
This was a wonderful and very enlightening exchange. Thank you both very much.
So beautiful to listen to both of you. Thank you
Trying to figure out how to be active from Sardinia...
Thank you Chris and Joe. The evil Is overwhelming, which is why we must stand against it.
Thank you. So poignant!❤
I know about him through you, Chris❤
Great interview with a great talented guest
Thanks for the talk Chris, I first read Joe Sacco in collage. I took a side course and the professor who was a jewish lady. she spend about a month disscussing Joe's Palestine book.
I just ordered the book.
Thank you Chris and Joe for this great exchange of ideas, the world's in dire need of voices like yours in these beleaguered times.
Thank you Joe Sacco an Chris Hedges
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
Really glad I got to see you two friends in conversation. Many thanks Mr Hedges, for having on Mr Sacco.
But these two talk about an innocent cildern old young palestinian who die with our tax money
The truth is so shocking its unfathomable. At least for the average american that is. Same thing happened with the Native Americans. Same thing.
Exactly...who the hell do we think we are??
I had to go back and watch this show twice. Thank you Mr. Sacco and Mr. Hedges for your guest and show. Everyone should share this, thank you
The US Empire was "the chief humanitarian benefactor and chief arm supplier." We're so enlightened!
It truly is the height and horror of hypocrisy.
The face of good people 😊
You are Just great! Greetings from a "democracy"
As European I did not know him..very positiv.impressed
That was such a brilliant conversation thank you so much peace and strength to you both ❤❤
Amazing. Thank you both.
A breath of clean air amidst the stench of normalized propaganda.
Amazing interview
There criminals and belong in jail. I would go away to prison for harming one person. There harming millions. Thats criminal.
Real feelings and real observations. Thanks for remembering our humanity when it seems lost.
Great conversation, thanks 🇵🇸
Two good Americans. They do exist. (And let's not forget Aaron Bushnell, rest in power.)
Joe: I don’t know how I’d behave if I were living under the occupation.
~ Nor do I know how I’d behave, but I think I’d probably find some way to resist. Nevertheless, there are far too many people who don’t even think in terms of walking in the shoes of others.
We all know how we would behave. We just don't dare say it out loud, in our glorious, free democracies.
What a great interview. I will be buying some of his books after this. Thank you!
✊Keep going gentlemen! Moving and effective graphic reporting.
Two great journalists!!!
Excellent.
Such a damned good conversation between to outstanding journalists, humanitarians, & truth tellers! Much respect, gentlemen, keep using your platform to inform & educate!
Joe is sobering. His words really cuts to the heart of the matter.
Need Universal Laws ….. That Nobody Can Ignore The Rules On This Planet……🌞
Massive respect to M. Chris Hedges 🙏
in nary 80 years they have become everything they said they feared
Thanks a lot
Thank you for correctly spelling "a lot" (see: "alot")... Even if the statement does lack punctuation 😑
Great discussion. Can't wait to read the book when it comes out.
Brilliant. I enjoyed this very much. Thank you both
Isn't there anyone else who understood October 7th as an act of rebellion by an oppressed people?
The parallel is the Indigenous people in the Americas fighting back against the colonial invasion.
I would never characterize that resistance as terrorist or unjustified.
I believe that there is a difference between oppressor violence and liberation resistance.
Yes. We're protesting, BDS FOREVER, direct action, etc etc etc. there's a million ways to resist
Exactly 💯 the truth.
I have over 25,000 comics, and my collection includes Chris Hedges comics!
Thank you both 🙏
Thank you! Excellent interview
Great!

A conversation between two men inspired to speak truth to power.
The last couple of days I've thought a lot about much I would NOT have felt different if Kamala Harris was inaugurated last Monday. I absolutely admire your courage and eloquence. Thank you gentlemen!
Thanks!
Just starting to watch! I am so excited to see this fucking genius of revolutionary artistry. ❤️
Extraordinary program... brilliant, honest, humane... Gracias!

brilliant!
My soul is shattered by the evil of the American empire.

Excellent interview. Can't wait to get my hands on Joe Sacco and Chris Hedges' books
❤❤❤
Thanks
Wonderful guest!
Another excellent guest on the CH's report. Much thanks Chris.
2:20 - "...irrelevant because it was history." Obviously, the mission of American education.
That which should be obvious has unquestionably proven to yield at least one generation of unwitting ignorance.

For Joe Sacco,
A Poem: IRON CLICK
I am terrified, America. Of the iron click of your human contact. And after this-
the winding-sheet of your selfless ideal love. A boundless love -

This poem was written by D.H. Lawrence in 1923. Winding-sheets is what they called body-bags 100 years ago.
Insightful..............
Thank you both, you're a ray of hope in this ugly unjust world! Gaza and Gazans love you❤
Thank you, Chris. May love and beauty heal what darkness has made difficult.
Illuminating. Thank you both.

The Guardian? They sacked Steve Bell for a cartoon on Netanyahu- go elsewhere
Very intetesting discussion. Joe's reflections on democracy give a lot of food for thought.

Great interview!! Thanks for showing some of Joe's work!!! Its fantastic!!!!!
Excellent interview. Great to hear that Australian accent come out - surprised he held onto it after so many years.
Love Joe's books, thank you gentlemen 🙏💔🌿
