They weren't oppressed, their great-great-grandparents were. These jerks have not been discriminated or oppressed one single day of their lives, yet have been taught that because of historical reasons they have now the right to get away with everything.

This is interesting psychological reasoning explaining how we all can shut off some of the horrors of life. Our PM evoked all the shock and horror at what he felt when the 3 little girls were murdered in Stockport and of course his evocation was a normal reaction to unspeakable horror. What I fail to understand ( the psychological part) is how he did not express the same horror when on January 29th 2024, a beautiful little 6 years old girl named Hind Rajab watched her relatives murdered by Israelis one by one and she was left in the car alive with their bodies until the Israelis decided to murder her too 3 hours later, along with two brave men who arrived at the scene to try and rescue her. Psychological conundrum indeed. How can such contrasting behaviour come from a man supposed to lead our country?
There are no simple answers as to why Starmer, or anyone else, reacts differently to what - objectively - appear to be equally vicious acts, Someone like Starmer probably has a clear hierarchy of events and of those who 'deserve' respect and compassion (or at least an ACT of compassion ) - all this linked to his main drive or goal : popularity and power/control. I think Peter is so right when he says that we all have the ability to shut out from our minds - at least to some extent - all the horrors that we do actually KNOW are going on every second of every day ; most of us would not be able to function otherwise. And those who are not shutting out the Palestinian - and other horrors - well enough, do sometimes feel they are going crazy. Also, maybe only 2% of a fairly stable society could be identified as behaving psychopathically but perceived existential threat, or chaotic instability/war must raise that percentage, temporarily at least, due to the power of survival instincts.
Just as they were 77 years ago, and even before that via UK Sponsored attacks between 1917 and 1947... there is no "israel" without terrorism... there never was.
@@sillutao8894 try again, hamas only exists because of the occupation and its terrorism.... if you don't understand this, you don't know enough to have a VALID opinion on this topic.
It's easy to judge resistance (in whatever form it takes), but apparently harder to understand the context under which the resistance was formed. Free 🇵🇸
Israel has brutalized the Palestinians for decades and they have generations of trauma. How do they expect horribly oppressed people to react when they've seen their relatives killed or tortured? Up to 40% of adult Palestinian men have been imprisoned at some point.
I think its important to remember that under international human rights law, occupied peoples are legally entitled to use force to resist illegal occupation. Under that legal standard, October 7th was not this heinous "immoral" act that it is made out to be, even as discussed here by this gentleman. Indeed, don't occupied and oppressed people have a moral duty to protect their own people from being periodically bombed, abused, dehumanized, humiliated, shot at, maimed, unjustly incarcerated, etc. by the occupier? We never pay attention to/apply international human rights law when it comes to Palestinians.
Recognizing the legal right to resist occupation with armed violence is essential and mainstream outlets by and large neglect it entirely. But it's not an unlimited legal right and does NOT include violence against civilians. This is why even Norman Finkelstein, who bravely refuses to condemn October 7 on moral grounds, freely acknowledges that it included violations of international law.
Not to mention that we have no capability to independently investigate what happened that day. This assumption that weknow what happpemed is so dangerous and the lack of pushback from Owen is mind boggling.
We are all human beings on this small planet we ought to act as such. No walls can bring peace and security without respect, dignity, justice, equity and humanity for all.

Exactly Peter! and their defenders always suggest that it's 'natural' to trust your own tribe, and distrust the other. However, we know it's not natural, and it's cultural. That 'natural' is an idea. It's our 'idea of natural, for which we can read our idea of cultural, and so, logically it's precisely cultural. So 🤢 it's espousing a generalized racism.
