- You can't beat Terry's Cafe in London for a Full English Breakfast! If you are looking for one of the best Full English Breakfasts around then take a walk with The MacMaster to South East London to Terry's Cafe that was opened in 1982.
The post-WWII London style cafe is known for its signature breakfast dish, "The Works", which we tried and consists of Cumberland sausage, eggs, beans, tomatoes, black pudding, bubble and squeak, mushrooms and bacon. However I opted out of the Black Pudding. Apparently it separates The Men from The Boys so Terry's Son and now the owner Austin told me.
Here's my review of Terry's Cafe, a humble South East London café which serves up traditional English style home cooking.

I worked 100mtrs from this place for about 10 years - gone down hill a bit due to the influx of northeners visiting but quality is always there.
He seemed a bit grumpy threw your tea down and walked off, I love bubble and sqeak was brought up on it, it's just left over potatoes and cabbage from the Sunday roast some add onion and carrot and then refry it. Looks quality I would pay that for locally sourced, I wouldn't personally go, something off about the owner. Great vlog, you should do a day trip to Brighton so easy to get to by train from London and so much to do, or Southend on sea many places to visit I'm currently in great Yarmouth Lee 😁

We visited end of Jan 2022. A crisp Sunday morning, we sat outside as we were wrapped up. Austin walked in as we were sitting. Wished us good morning. The breakfast was plentiful and absolutely delicious. Absolutely faultless. Staff were lovely, doesn’t get any better than that. Thank you for looking after us.

Place looked great i love how it is decorated with vintage and historic items and pictures of the past .
Breakfast looked great. Loved the Timmy Lee (aka Robin Askwith) look alike and the way he slammed your cuppa down on the table. 😂😂😂

No no not at all, Im Afraid!!! I'm from Sarf London as you know and a full English needs actual tomato, two eggs, fried bread with bacon and mushrooms, definitely no bubble at all!!! No slushy toms I'm sorry!!! Need some crisp toast, butter with quality marmalade Paula in sussex
How did that breakfast get a 10. The egg and sausage looked nice but the rest .....no thanks. You tea was slammed on the table, there was water on your plate and one of the girls was tipping a packet of crisps or something into her mouth as she went back into the kitchen.

Never a 10, out of 10, sausage half cooked, water around the edge of plate, the tea was slammed down on table as he walked past, what service charge, (hardly good was it)

£13.75 is expensive but you have to pay more for quality. Bumble and squeak became popular in wartime when we had ration books and the leftovers from the Sunday lunch was fried up the next morning for breakfast another fantastic video cheers

Looks good to be fair. I live in Lancaster up north the breakfasts are often grotty unless you go to a farm restaurant.

I wondered when you would do a review at what I think is one of London`s best cafes. I remember going to Terry`s in 2014 and ordering the Full English...in my view it`s one of London`s best...and the portion of Bubble and Squeak is wonderfully generous😋
I rate this fantastic Full English 10 out 0f 10.

That to me is the epitome of a traditional British cafe, red and white checked plastic table coverings, the shape of the building, the layout inside, it just shouts "CAFE". I'm with you on the black pudding Lee, food of the Devil, love a good bubble and squeak though.

A very nice looking Full English Breakfast there my friend. Also a lovely touch there too with the Bubble & Squeak. I'm not a lover of Hash Browns, so if given a choice i'd pick the Bubble & Squeak every time. As for the Tomatoes, i can take either. But some cafe's tend to give fresh Tomatoes only a very light grill or fry, this tends to lead to quite a cold Tomato on the plate. Whereas tinned Tomatoes are usually piping hot, so i agree with your choice. The Bacon & Sausage looked good too, although for my liking the Sausage could've been cooked a little longer on the underside, it looked a little anemic to me, but that's just my personal choice. About ten years ago, i had a friend who worked at a local meat wholesalers, and via him, i could get hold of some really high quality large catering packs of Bacon. It was absolutely delicious. We used to get all our meat from there, including our Sunday roast joints. Unfortunately these days, most supermarket meats are full of water and fat, and they just don't have any taste to them anymore. Obviously there are high quality specialist meat purveyors around the country, like "Donald Russell"... but their prices, are sadly out of my price range. Good to see you found yourself a good cafe for a Full English Breakfast though. Cheers buddy.

Been In Terry's numerous times was a young lady in there serving with a butchers apron proper scaffs Cafe.
I like that they give you a choice on the type of tomato. Not seen that before.

Everyone complaining about him slamming the tea. A real British cafe, is no nonsense, and un-pretentious, . No fake over service. Shows kore character to the place, just great quality food.
I was in Belfast last week and paid 6 pound for a huge breakfast in a traditional cafe there. Including coffee... 13.75 is total fucking rip off.. And I think Lee felt that but didn't want to offend Terry the geezer with his shades 😎

Babble (or as I call it Bubble) and Squeak changes depending on what was left over from the previous or that day's lunchtime meal so somedays it may be dominated by potatoes or turnips or carrots, or pumpkin and, of course, the taste will change. Perhaps in cafes they tend to predominantly keep it to potatoes but in a normal household it is whatever roasted veg was left over - well it was in our household - Waste Not, Want Not. It was a favourite in my household for Sunday night tea - on toast.

Great video breakfast looked good but did look like it was just all chucked on the plate. Tad expensive and I turn my nose up at anywhere that puts an automatic service charge on the bill. Any tips should be at customers discretion.cheers for sharing.😀

For me, I would prefer the sausage cooked some more and a plain egg. Could you get an extra egg or rasher of bacon instead of the black pudding for the same price? And was that service charge included in your bill or extra?

Looked nice 👍.. Too much tomatoes and beans for my liking .. I always think cafes fill the plate with them,to make the breakfast look bigger..
is the owner taking the piss, dumps the tea on the table, it felt like lee was a nuisance rather than a benefit to the shop, 14 quid for a greasy spoon is a joke, 7 quid tops, score owner minus 10 food looked ok 7.

The service gave that Tea a Cold Stone Stunner wrestling move pretty cool as zero spill.People complaining about the share owners arrogance, I never seen it I liked him being brash is not arrogance. Again you know what is coming Lee Bubble N Sqeek I have never had in my life and never will, certainly would not swap out for Black Pudding.Tinned Toms every time especially with Fried Bread for mops. Overall looked the Biz though and its in the 9s for me.
