You definitely said exactly what my husband and I felt when we saw both Beyond Van Gogh and Monet. The Monet did not begin to feel like an immersive experience, and due to the nature of his magnificent work, I feel it was not represented properly at all or should never be represented in this type of display. It is far too impressionistic to begin to display on four walls. On the other hand, I did feel that the majesty of Van Gogh's colors was displayed beautifully in Beyond, but I think I rather liked the first immersive Van Gogh better. You are right! the room was over-crowded, it was very hot, and and there were no laces to sit. entirely too many people but then we chose Father's Day.

Such a disappointment, especially considering how much they're charging. And yes, there are definitely good parts like the colors and transitions! I think they could take some targeted steps to drastically increase the experience for all visitors!

Thanks for your honest opinion of this exhibit. I was ready to drop $40 on this, but news of the Van Gogh traveling exhibit (not this one-but the original) filing for bankruptcy caught my eye. Upon further investigation I found there are a number of companies doing these Van Gogh “immersive” exhibits…who knew?-apparently piggybacking on the positive buzz of the more elaborate exhibits traveling the world.
Having seen TH-cam videos of the more elaborate exhibits, I was excited that it was coming to our area…but to a building in the county fairgrounds (?)…now I know why it is possible…it is just 2 rooms with screens on the walls, and not the multiple rooms of immersive projected paintings and physical vignettes of some of his most famous paintings. Even after doing more research, I found reviews by “influencers” (obviously given free tickets) and local TV stations that painted a rosy picture (pun intended) of this exhibit.
Thanks for your honesty and giving me confidence that my $40 could be spent on better entertainment.

I'm so glad this was helpful! I hadn't heard about the bankruptcy news or piggyback shows. That's so sad. I appreciate you sharing that valuable information as I'm sure some other watchers will find that helpful as well!

I wish i would see this before - yesterday we went to have this immersive experience at VB, and it didn’t even come close to what we had seen earlier in DC! I can relate to all of the points you mentioned in your video and it was sad! I had specifically taken my parents because i loved it so much there in DC and was so disappointed!

Oh no! That's so disappointing 😞 Hopefully you were still able to enjoy the family time, but I'm sure that was frustrating!
