Stayed on the Celebrity Beyond same room as you's 6 weeks ago. Love the room. As for the mirror. We moved the chair and slid the table into the fridge. That gave us a full length mirror. We love the full view of the balcony.

How often was it locked? Part of the reason we always book a balcony room is that I’m extremely claustrophobic, so the idea of being unable to open the window gives me some anxiety…

@@itsme-vx6fg we were on a transatlantic cruise in the Edge. I only remember is being locked once or twice. Honestly when it was locked I wouldn’t have wanted it open. The weather was rough and there was a lot of ocean spray. You could still see everything really well though which was nice versus the traditional balcony.

I'd never seen this type of cabin before but it looks like a great idea to me. It gives you that opportunity to use the balcony space as interior space if you want to. Making the cabin feel more spacious. And you can still pull the window down if you want that "balcony feel". Really looks like the best of both worlds to me.

This is an excellent analysis of the veranda (large window) vs. an actual outside balcony. I LOVED sitting on the balcony each morning with my room-service coffee, fruit, and muffin. Thus, balcony for me. You covered EVERY detail (including possible noise from others w/balcony).

3:29 One thing I enjoy about a traditional balcony is that I can stand at the rail and look down the side of the ship to see the bridge, and more importantly, to get a 180-degree view of the port and its surroundings as we sail away. With the top window open, can one still lean forward on the divider to see down the side of the ship (forward and aft)? I've enjoyed watching the pilot come onto or off the ship if that occurs on our side of the ship. I feel like I'd miss a lot of normal sights with the IV setup. We have booked the Beyond, but went with a traditional balcony (one of the 18 or so on the ship!). I think the AC issues would be a deal breaker for me.

Just got off the Apex and had an infinite veranda… loved it. Loved the extra space and the sound proofing from neighbors… however a couple times I came back to the room and the room steward left the blind raised and it ended up getting pretty warm in the room and took a while to cool back down.. We had some rough weather so it was locked often so I did miss being able to walk outside and just see and experience the waves and hearing them crash against the ship….

The knock against this cabin that is likely to be a dealbreaker for me is the heat aspect. Many have reported uncomfortable cabins even after raising the window.. It might be less of an issue for many, but I hate humidity and heat. I'll go with the porthole veranda for that reason alone.

I have booked an infinite veranda cabin on Celebrity Edge for a 19 day voyage from Honolulu to Sydney in October 2024. I booked it without looking at any reviews, because it reminded me of the cabin I had on a river cruise of the Avalon Vista some years ago. The Inifinite Veranda is great in that I treat it as an Ocean View with a floor to ceiling window.

10:33 I would pick the ultimate veranda again rather than an outside balcony. This has many options. I didn't even think about the noise of the window and shade. Heard no noise from neighboring cabins.
Had a similar cabin on Alaska cruise end of August on the Edge. Didn't use the app to program things from phone.
Would have liked for all Captain's and other announcements to come into cabin wirh a control switch rather than needing the tv on to their chanel to hear them.

Well... We just completed our 9th cruise (it took us 23 years to do those) and went to Alaska on the Celebrity Edge! Although we'd cruised before, we found that watching (Ok... binge watching) your videos was Very Helpful! Thank You Ilana!
We booked the controversial "Infinite Veranda" and.... We Loved It! Ours was set up with the couch closer to the window, but we both agree it would still be a great choice, even with the bed closer to the window and the couch closer to the door. That setup would allow easier walk-up to the closets too. We loved watching as we sailed into and out of port and we saw whales and a bald eagle from the room.
We don't normally go to coffee shops, but Loved getting tea at Cafe el Bacio and watching the scenery go by outside. The martini bar area was also a great place to sit and enjoy the music, wine and watching people having fun. We did hear some passengers complaining that the weather was cold and rained in Ketchikan. It's Alaska! A little homework before booking might have helped them select a different cruise.
All in all, the Edge was a great ship for us and Alaska's beauty is Fantastic!

My wife and I got off the Beyond last week staying in a Sunset Veranda. We loved it. We also stayed in one last April on the Apex. We love the large veranda and the serenity it offers watching the wake. Two drawbacks that anyone considering a Sunset veranda should be aware of. First, it is a long walk to your cabin to the aft elevators. Second, depending on the wind direction you will sometimes find tiny pieces of soot from the exhaust stacks on your chairs. Just be sure to ask the cabin steward to wipe down the veranda furniture whenever he services your cabin. For us it’s definitely worth the cons.

Just stubbled on your video. Thanks for sharing. Great video. My husband and I were in this kind of room on the Edge and like you wanted to try after watching many videos. We loved the room, but the cons were the noise of the window. It was so loud and also when other folks in the rooms around us open or close their window very late at night or during the day, we could hear it. Another thing was the bottom part of the window was so dirty with sea salt water that when we sat to see the water it wasn't clear. We had to stand just to see the water in clear view. After the third day, we came up with a plan by putting the decorate pillows from the sofa on the chairs to give it some height. It worked out great, sitting so high to see the water, but we couldn't really eat from the table. Other than that, we loved the room. The pros totally outweighed the cons.

Thank you for your review. We just had a cruise on Celebrity Eclipse, and loved our veranda cabin. It was midships and on Deck 8, in the perfect location. This was especially helpful as we had a rough crossing across the Tasman Sea. We did not feel the swell very much because of where we were. So I definitely do not want a cabin aft.
Sadly you have confirmed my reservations about the infinite veranda cabins. Even the things you mentioned as pros are negatives for me.
I loved the openness of the veranda, and being able to see and chat to our neighbours.
My partner had COVID and had to be confined to the cabin for 5 days. This was much less of a burden became was able to sit outside. We cruised through some of the fjords of New Zealand. His being able to be outside on the balcony meant he got to see almost as much as if he had been on a deck.
Also the blackout blinds would make me feel claustrophobic.
I think I will stick with traditional cabins.
It’s such a pity as I would have liked to book another cruise on Celebrity, but next year they are going to bring Celebrity Edge to the Southern Hemisphere. So I won’t be booking another cruise until it is a Solstice class ship back.

I think this would be great for cruising without a group. We cruise with family. 4 siblings and spouses. We look at cabins before booking to see if we are able to open them up so we can go to any of the balconies. Often having morning coffee together as well as late night snacks together on our balconies.

Another great video, Ilana! We did Apex twice in Europe and we've decided that we like a "real" balcony over the "sliding window" that is the Infinite Window. We will be sticking with Solstice or Millennium class for now. We also had reliability issues with our infinite window as the shade had "racked" and the window wouldn't go down reliably. To us, Aquaclass in a conventional cabin > Edge class infinite window. That said, we love Eden and Rooftop Garden Grill.

Book a sunset veranda on the edge class ships then you get the best of both worlds. All that the edge class has to offer with the traditional balcony of the other class of ships.

Just came back from a 8-day European cruise on Celebrity Edge and we loved the infinity veranda so much. We had always had the traditional balcony in the past but from now if we sail with Celebrity we would select infinity veranda again. We enjoyed having extra space like one big room and the ability to control how much we could open the door to let the air in. We never had any issues not being able to open the window at all during our trip.

I just booked my first ever cruise (surprising my husband for his 65th birthday and we leave out of Seattle for an Alaskan cruise on May 23rd, 2025). I keep wondering if I should keep the infinite veranda or go to the sunset veranda (aft) but that cost $1,300 more! I worry that it might be so cold we won’t spend much time on the balcony and therefore wasting that $1,300.

I would love this type of cabin, especially the privacy from the neighbors left and right. Since I read many people on Carnival are smoking whatever on their balcony. Carnival are dealing with violators, but I was shocked from "The Shiplife" video that many are not being caught. All that to say is that I would love that type of cabin. I'm a loyal Carnival Guest almost Platinum, so maybe their new ship Venezia, Jubilee, or Luminosa might have that kind of balcony (Veranda). I just sailed on the Celebration and it was Beautiful and the balcony was a lot more private than the older ships. So, maybe! Again, L.O.V.E. the Veranda🛳🥰

We sailed on the Celebrity Edge in 2021. We weren't show how we would feel about the infinite veranda but ended up loving it. We were on port side and there were a times during the day we had to lower the blinds somewhat to keep the heat out. We absolutely loved the cabin and could not believe the great amount of storage in the room. We look forward to booking a cruise on the Celebrity Beyond.

We just wrapped up a week on the APEX, and we stayed in an infinite veranda room (Aqua class) for our first time. Our take-aways...for the most part, we loved it. Sailing in the Caribbean during the cooler months, made the use of the veranda quite nice. It never got too horribly hot or cold. We honestly left it closed for the most part because the floor to ceiling windows were so nice. HOWEVER, there was one day where the sun was just beating on our side of the ship. Our A/C was cranked, but our room just wouldn't cool off because of that "sunroom" effect. I tried closing the blinds about halfway which helped a little, then I closed the bifold doors to see if that would help...and it did, a little. I finally closed the blinds all the way, AND the bifold doors. That did the trick. The cool thing about that (pun intended), is that it made the room feel very elegant. If I would've had to do that for more than the hour or so I did to cool things off, I would not be as positive with my statement. We both loved being able to control things from our phone. We loved how the veranda just gave us more space in general, and I loved having a bit more privacy as this guy likes his nakey time 😀 I'm not convinced that I would stay in an infinite veranda room in the dead of summer with the heat/humidity. I think I'd prefer a traditional balcony then. But, we loved the room, loved the ship, it was awesome. If you haven't tried one, it's worth a shot...at least once.

@@Steinlage63 Hi...I just noticed you had responded some time ago...my apologies for not getting back to you! Yes, my wife and I enjoyed a 2-week Baltics cruise in 2023 aboard the Apex...we were celebrating HER 60th birthday! It was amazing. There was a bit more room than in the standard infinite veranda room, and we really liked having a real balcony vs. the infinite veranda "balcony"...the bathroom was REALLY nice and you could open the mirror to look out into the room and outside beyond the balcony. We had full access to The Retreat which was also very nice. We enjoyed several meals at Luminae (almost all of our meals actually). It wasn't "OMG this is the best thing I've ever had" good, but it was "wow this is great" good. One of my favorite memories of that cruise was when we were sailing out of Stockholm through the Archipelagos on a cool, drizzly, overcast day on our way to Finland. I was lounging in bed with a whiskey, streaming a Formula 1 race from my phone to the TV while watching the scenery of Sweden slowly drift by outside. I looked at my wife and just said... "How did we get here???" It was awesome! We've enjoyed two Alaskan cruises aboard two different cruise lines...Disney was pretty good, Princess was awful...I mean we still loved seeing Alaska aboard both ships, but I felt that Princess made the cruise feel like Walmart, while Disney made it feel like Macy's. A Sky Suite aboard a Celebrity ship should feel more like Saks 5th Avenue! I'm sure you'll have a lovely cruise!

We were on the Apex this summer in the Baltic and really enjoyed the infinite verandah. The weather was cooler at times such that it would not have otherwise been conducive to sitting out on a traditional balcony. With the infinite balcony, we could sit and feel like we were on a traditional balcony but without it being cool. We also found that it was great to have the added space as "part of the room." We would book an IV room again.

I was fortunate enough last January 2022, to stay in the port hole cabin as a single and with a single price. I actually found it to be quite nice as it had the traditional door. Yes there was the frame of the door in the middle, but for me, it wasn't a bother. As I was alone, I asked the cabin crew to remove the extra chair which is something you can do to give yourself more room on the balcony, this made a world of difference! Again to each their own! I especially enjoyed that I could lean out and look over the water easily.

Some river cruise ships have this feature in their stateroom since there are no balconies. It's even grander because it's the width of the room. The idea of being able to fall asleep to ocean sounds is more appealing to me that a balcony. Thanks so much for the review.

I just booked a cruise on the celebrity beyond for August 10. I think the infinite balcony is a great idea. It makes the ship more aerodynamic which lowers their operating costs. The entire wall of the room is a window that allows you to see the ocean Unobstructed by an outside balcony. Also, I’m not sure everybody thinks about this, but when the window is closed, your room is larger than it would have been with a regular balcony. Your balcony furniture of two chairs and a small table become an inside space for additional seating.

I booked the infinite veranda but keep wondering if I should do the sunset veranda (aft), but it will cost me $1,300 more and not sure the sunset veranda is worth that, specially if it would be cold and/or rainy.
