Norman is the MAN. No matter what happens in golf he will be remembered as one of the best. His driving should always be ranked as top 5 best ever.......you don't stay no.1 that long if you can not drive the ball.
Was at The Australian GC that week for Thur or Fri. Next year in 96 at the same course that a new Pro, Tiger Woods, debuted in Aus... First saw Norman at the 86, 87, NSW Open at Concord Golf Course, Sydney. 4 People deep galleries for Norman on every hole, massive crowds. I think he won both. Total prize money for 144 players was 50k!
No one lit up a course like Norman when he was on a charge. Unfortunately he never converted that enormous talent into a decent number of majors, mainly because he was one of the unluckiest players out there. And no amount of talent can fix that.
He also choked. A lot. I loved Norman, but he also lost a bunch of majors by choking away leads. Shooting 78 on the final day of the Masters to go from a 6 shot lead to a 5 shot loss is not bad luck. It's an epic choke.
@@ruscopcoltrain that was about the only time you could say he REALLY "choked." And that said, Faldo played great that day and would have been hard to beat had Greg had a "good" day. I think, as the OP said, he was actually more unlucky than anything else. You don't win two majors and a bunch of tournaments on the pga tour/around the world being a true choker. JMTCW
He actually never liked the ultra-flat swing Harmon gave him in 1993. He disowned it in late-96, saying it never felt natural and led to him over-rotating his hips. His swing here is flatter than his earlier days, but more upright than it was between ‘93 and ‘96.
It's a pitty Greg couldn't putt when it mattered and he lost his confidence after loosing the Masters that he should have won to Faldo. The Tiger came in 97 and that was it for Greg.

@gamerscockpit WHEN HE WAS AT HIS BEST HIS BEST WAS FAR BETTER THAN THE REST AT THE TIME.
Turn off the fkn caps lock grandad
Absolutely love Jose’s swing during those years….and his chipping and pitching…surreal
That 3 wood Olazabal hit on the 18th from the rough! 😳
Their duel at Augusta the following April was legendary
It was great, I remember sitting up to watch Olazabal win...

olazabal was also challenging for the world's longest sideburns title.

john fisher one of the very few cases where that’s actually true. The man was genuinely unlucky
He was as talented as anyone that ever played. Incredible player in his prime.

@@ruscopcoltrain so a "lot" is actually once, yeah.
Norman is a mix between woody harrelson and crocodile dundee
Best “ set up” ever
Never heard Norman talk about why he flattened his backswing so much compared to his early days on tour.
He did because Butch Harmon told him to.
Butch Harmon got him to flatten his backswing and shorten it.
He did it because he flared out that 4 iron
and lost the Jack Nicklaus in 1986.
Back problems

Oh feck off he was amazing
@@fradaja I didn't say he was a bad golfer, but he should have won the masters with a 5 shot lead.
He had injuries after that as well.
Hold my jockstrap rory , oh wait you cant !
Back in days when players didn’t cheat!
Looks like he's using a six iron
Greg was the finest choker across all sports. That he won two majors only proves that once you reach the pinnacle of choking its all down hill
NO CHOCKER.😂
@@patrickmccann8701 86 masters 18 hole is a fine example. 7 iron on the green and 2 putts ,play off.
What about all the tournaments he won ALL ROUND THE WORLD?. 😂 91
@@patrickmccann8701 the majors are the only ones that matter .Mr Norman just lost so many on Sunday.
Oli takes hacks lmao
Dead start both golfers ,
Greg was unwatchable he so uncommitted with his swing it’s a wonder he didn’t collapse more often
