    I've used Boss multi affects foot switches forever, Had the GT5, 6, 8 and 10 over the past couple decades. When I went to the Toronto L and M, I was treated like royalty. The salesman presented me with the ME 80, I couldn't believe the low price!
    As I have stated, I'm very familiar with the Product Line so I took it home.
    And as usual I am having a ball.
    It's not just the massive stock in store, for me it's really all about visiting an old and trusted friend.

      You guys always get the low prices because of those sales and discounts. One gets fecked with these over the top prices when you live in POS mexico. My uncle lived in the US for some years and has gotten most of his gear on sale. 5 string fender bass, cant believe the price he got that for. Anyways, just venting here how everything i want to buy over here is overpriced and you never see discounts going on around here.

I've had a few multi effects units over the years and they're usually a big pain in the arse. Can you run more than one modulation effect at once? For example can you run Chorus and Flanger at the same time? I have an ME50 (older, less options). I am not aware of how to do this, or if it is even possible. Also I have a tube amplifier with an effects loop. I prefer to run the dirt in front of the amp, and modulation FX like: delay, tremelo, reverb, excetera in the effects loop. Is it possible to do this with the ME80? Or is it one or the other? Thanks for the video!

    • @Theshark15z

      The only way you can have those simultaneously, is by using the onboard effects on your amp. That's what I do.

    What are the things that I have pushed the envelope of trolling all over these demos of this processor is how I hope to use this thing when I get one to simulate the Boston guitar sound. One of the most difficult effects to emulate is the Tom Scholz Hyperspace pedal, which is very rare and rooted in a classic echoplex unit. Is it possible to use the Tera echo in conjunction with the ME 80’s expression pedal to duplicate this effect?

  • @allhavesaidtheirprayers3434

    I've had this pedal for the last few years, but I can't get a truley nasty metal tone out of it. Always had a hiss or sounds flat when I dial back gain. Any ideas anyone? Maybe it's just me or my ears. I love this pedal otherwise.

      Try setting the noice reduction NR value using the bank up or down foot switch 1 and 2. If still cannot get rid try changing cable or check your house or place earth wire if it's working. The ME80 has this noice reduction feacher.

      Go to the edit knob you'll see NS..noice supressor printed beside it. Hold a few seconds and then adjust bank up or down for suppressing the noice until you like the setting then press save. Hope thus this works for you.

      Do you turn on the eq setup? And the solo effect on the left switch should be on. It adds a lot of beef to the metal distortion setting. I gotta say, I'm not a huge fan of the core and fuzz effect on this thing.

  • @jonathanhutchinson5649

    Right someone help me out, I feel so dumb. Isn’t it super annoying to have all the settings on the preamp, and the same settings on the amp that plays the guitar sound itself too? 2 gains, tre/bass/mid? I just don’t understand how that’s useful, it’s not intuitive for knowing where certain sound characteristics are coming from

    Hi folks. If you want to add another pedal into this mix, before or after, where does it go? I have a 360 Looper. Thanks

    • @longandmcquade
      @longandmcquade  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends - do you want the effects recorded into the loop? Or do you want the loop to be recorded dry so that you can change the effects on the loop? Typically you'd want the effects recorded into the loop, so you could have one tone for a rhythm loop and then change to a lead tone to play on top of it. For this, you'd want to have the loop after the effects. But the other option exists as well, to put the looper before the effects. This would be handy for auditioning tones. Record a loop, and then have it play while you scroll through patches on the ME-80 or build your tone for the part.

    • @fishouttawater4808
      @fishouttawater4808 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I should be more specific: Where do I connect it in the chain? There is no in/out for other effects as I can see, so do I go from guitar, to looper, to M80? Thanks. Hope that makes sense.

    • @longandmcquade
      @longandmcquade  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      [Guitar -> ME-80 -> Looper] if you want the effected signal from the ME-80 recorded into the loop. This is the more common setup.
      [Guitar -> Looper -> ME-80] if you want the dry signal to be recorded into the loop so you can tweak the effects on it with the ME-80.

  • @fausten3

    Hey Dan, thx for the Demo. However you left out some very important info. ie. the Power supply and even more importantly, for a potential buyer, how does this unit connect to my Guitar? Does it need a GQ type Pickup? or does it use a conventional Pickup and cable?

    • @longandmcquade
      @longandmcquade  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The power supply is a standard Boss PSA-120, the same power supply that is universally used for all Boss pedals. We have never heard of a GQ type pickup. This unit works with any conventional guitar and patch cable.

    • @longandmcquade
      @longandmcquade  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ME-80 is about 2 years newer than the GT-100, but the GT-100 is still more capable. Our vote is for the GT-100.

    Is this better than the Boss Gt1?
    Thinking about trading my GT1 in and buying this

    • @longandmcquade
      @longandmcquade  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The biggest difference between the GT-XX and the ME-XX units is that the GT units include amp and speaker emulation as well as effects, whereas the ME units just include effects. So if you have a nice amp that you like the tone of, you might want to go with the ME-80 to just use its effects in front of your amp. If you have a solid-state amp with lackluster features and tone, you might want to go with a GT unit to simulate other amps. A more fair comparison might be the ME-80 vs GT-100. If you're thinking of upgrading from the GT-1 and want to keep the amp models and such, the GT-100 is what' we'd recommend. If you're going into an amp you really like (perhaps a tube amp) and you only really use the effects section oft the GT-1, then we'd recommend to go with the ME-80.

    These processors never hold a candle to using an actual boss pedal. They ruin the tone. Everything always gets thinner and weaker.

    • @drixxv2435
      @drixxv2435 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not so true, so happened they used the COSM of GT100 on this ME80 which the latter has an input level tweakable. I found the GT100 raspy and yeah thin somewhere. But after calibrating the input level, the tone became warm and thick. Now this ME80 doesn't have this input gain level. So maybe Boss can come up with a firmware that will let user adjust the input gain level. I don't even use EQ when I create for gain or dirt sound because the tone control for each od or distortion is useable after setting the input gain based on guitar pickup's power.
