    Reminds a little of the footwork in Capoeira.

    So I've always wondered. I love the footwork and want to incorporate it into my boxing.
    But I am confused, with some of these. Like the female, male and hourglass... You bring your feet together at each corner... Is there a purpose to that? Is it supposed to be done that way? Or is it just for demonstration purposes?

      Know this is old, but I’ll share what an FMA instructor told me: bringing the feet close together makes it easier to pivot and switch direction quickly, because your feet are under you. Watch when a soccer player or American football player fake out an opponent, making them think that they are going one way then quickly switching direction. Those athletes are on the balls of their feet, close together, and explode off their heel in the new direction they are moving toward.

      Check out the boxer Willie Pep, he used the same type of footwork where both feet were put together th-cam.com/video/ngeD1INP5vI/w-d-xo.html

      When an edged weapon is added, avoiding it becomes critical.

      Both, it is more a structured drill but you can use part of it in real situations

    Is FMA footwork vastly different from Wing Chun footwork?

    • @DavidBertrand
      @DavidBertrand  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes but there are some similarities
