Amstrad CB900 and CB901 both use Cybernet 002F chassis. Only difference is the PA, CH9 and Roger bleep button on the CB901. The CB900 has no Chinese "fake" copies, unlike the CB901. If you have the "made in Japan" CB901, it's the original version. If it's "made in Hong Kong", it'll be one of the cheaper copies.
Thanks for the info. I have an AMSTRAD 901 radio coming soon. So that’s something I will be checking when it arrives. I do like the look and use of these AMSTRAD radios. 40 years old and still going strong. 👍🏻
@@26CharlieBravo27 No problem. I have 2 mint Japan CB901s. The Hong Kong versions come in (confusingly) two variants - cheap and cheaper, and you can't tell from the outside. They both work, but the squelch on the cheapest HK version is very iffy. A worthwhile modification on any of these sets, is to change that big green 3.3 Ohm ballast resistor for a 6W rated one of the same value, which will allow the full 4W output. The factory fitted one is underrated at 3W, and gets hot on long transmissions, causing the power output to drop. Make sure that this resistor hasn't been removed and replaced with a shorting link by a previous owner - this can cause it to put out spurious emissions on unauthorised frequencies. Good luck with them - the CB900/901 was probably among the best UK spec sets available at that time, along with the Cybernet 134 based offerings from other marques.
@@unixman2605 Thanks mate. Appreciate all the info. I’ve got a BINATONE 5 STAR coming soon as well. So I’ll do a video on that one as well when it arrives. Regards. 👍🏻
