2:27 Incorrect. It was his last clash with Norman Osborn as the Goblin that Mary Jane disappeared. And the events with Dr. Strange and Wong took place after arc about Spider-Man's mutation disease. When the MJ clone appeared, it was as Spidey was dealing with Harry taking over as the Green Goblin and Punisher looking into her disappearance.
I initially thought when I was a kid that this show did end on a cliffhanger. Great coverage of what might have been. Hopefully it does come true in the future, I know Peter/Spider-Man and MJ voice actors are definitely down for it. If the mouse is smart we’ll see Spider-Man’98
3:37 I forgot that Marvel and DC had a crossover in the comics. I know it's probably unlikely but can you imagine the awesome shit that could be put together if the MCU and DCEU had a crossover?
I think we should be thankful and lucky that said crossover didn't happen. I think it would've been disastrous given the state that both Marvel and DC movies were under. Disney and WB are two different factions that had their own issues going during the 2010s. Just because fans can have imagination doesn't mean we should be wanting these things to happen in real life. Be careful for what you wish for. 😉
Man I didn't see this coming legends of Fandom. Man it was amazing to watch this new episode and more awesome videos coming soon as well. Hey Erod could you do a legends of tomorrow had a cliffhanger too. I recommend you check this series. For a legends of Fandom episode in the next couple of weeks or months would be nice to watch that video.
I think like how some people are with Teen Titans (2003) after their crossover with TTG, some people have not necessarily moved on (well some have) but just learned to accept that maybe this show can't be continued for whatever reasons. I've already heard one person say that how the way the show initially ended perhaps was a good place to end Spider-Man's thematic journey as a character and for why he exists. Not saying that the show shouldn't have a rival but some people are accepting what is or what was and finally moving on with their lives. I think this is the normal reaction that people should be having whenever something like a TV show can't continue. We can't keep on persisting or or demanding for something that can't come back. We can only appreciate what this show did and move on or accept that there isn't anything else that can come from it. However, given that we are currently living in a time where multiverse stories are popular in today's superhero movies, the premise for the sixth season where Spider-Man travels to the multiverse to find Mary Jane might actually be very relevant right now. I think it was smart how they didn't show the 90s Spider-Man in the second Spider-verse movie because Disney was perhaps saving him for his cameo appearance in X-Men '97. Speaking of X-Men '97, I've seen some commenters make theories or come to a conclusion that MJ appearing in that show was in fact the real MJ and that X-Men '97 chronologically took place after Spider-Man reunited with her after saving her from the multiverse. Maybe season 6 of Spider-Man already took place off camera during or in-between the X-Men's original season 5 finale and it's recent revival. Now I'm not saying that there is going to be a Spider-Man '98 revival, but I think we may have to wait and see how Friendly Neighbor Spider-Man does on Disney Plus. Because many people seem to be thinking that if that show doesn't do well, Marvel will just green light Spider-Man '98 to get more viewers back, which I think will also not happen simply because that's just a fan dream. Even if it did happen, I feel like the initial plan for season 6 may be heavily altered where the 90s Spider-Man now travels to places in the multiverse that have not yet existed when the show was still airing. Basically I'm worried that they make the 90s Spider-Man crossover with moden interpretations and iterations of other Spider-Man characters that shouldn't have existed back then. It'll just look odd and not at all feel like a proper and respectful comeback of this specific iteration. For that, I'd rather keep season 6 a mystery and just have one scene in Beyond The Spider-verse where we get another cameo of the 90s Spider-Man reuniting with his MJ. That'll also be nice to see. But we will just have to see what the future holds.
While I would love for the show to continue (or at least have crossover with X-men 97), I fine with the way things ended, with the show at least giving a conclusion to Peter arc. By the end, he save the multiverse, defeated Spider Carnage (the villain who represents Peter's flaws), got to met Stan Lee and, in his own words, finally came to apprecitate his life. Of all the Spider Man shows, TAS is the one that gives Peter a complete development. He finding Mary Jane feels more like reward after all he went through.
Slight correction. The Dr Strange stuff happened earlier in the season. The MJ clone just showed up on Peter's doorstep. Literally. He then after saving her from Mysterio's cyborg girlfriend, revealed his identity and proposed.
Good video. I would have like those ideas and seen what they could of done. I loved this adaptation and I was ok with the ending because it left hopeful Peter would find Mary Jane! If that could happen I would be on board!
It’s not just that; he also skipped over "Spider-Man Unlimited"; and he didn't even bother mentioning both the still on-going Disney Jr. series "Spidey and His Amazing Friends" or even the upcoming Disney+ series "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man". I guess to ERod (and no offense to you, Eric, if you happen to see this comment), after "Marvel's Spider-Man", that's where Spider-Man cartoons pretty much ended for him.
As much as I think a revival of the Animated Series would be fascinating, I’m fine with what we got. The show’s multiverse arc did end off in a pretty conclusive way so I don’t really have any issue with it. Plus we wouldn’t have Specactular Spider-Man and the Spider-Man show I grew up watching, the 2003 MTV Series.
I always thought that if they did a revival it should have been a Mayday Parker show set 15 -16 years after the events of the spider cartoon and then in a second season of the show we get an explanation to how Peter found Mary Jane in the other dimension.
Next Legends of Fandom: season 2 of Spider-Man Unlimited, season 6 of Teen Titans, season 2 of The Tick 2017, Avengers EMH season 3, Transformers Animated season 4.
I would really love Spider-Man 98 to return especially because if we got Peter Parker and Mary Jane have their daughter mayday Parker spider-girl in this show would be freaking fantastic in my opinion.
It's been over a year since I suggested a look at the failed attempts to make a movie (or TV series) based on Elf Quest; are you ever going to do that one? Since there's now another attempt in the works, this would be a good time!
Remember watching this & never knew it got cancelled... As much as I would like to see it conclude, could it have been done as well as X-Men97? Much of the cast have died, too old or gone onto other projects... Depends on writers, voice actors/actresses, screenplays among other factors
It has always bothered me that this show never got any proper full season releases on Blu-ray. Yeah, I know that we live in the era of streaming, but streaming has its disadvantages as well. By the way, is ERod still going to release part four of his look back at Star Wars animated? It's been at least five months now.
You mentioned the episode with doctor strange and old flame head as if it took place after mjs accidentally multiverse trip making her the clone but that wasn't even close as that episode was the first of season 3 and mj doesn't fall into the portal until the last episode of season 3 with mj being absent for most of season 4 until the clone showed up. Honestly a lot of your information seems a bit iffy here.
Spiderman 98’ should be part of spiderverse , where spidey travel To multiverse to find Mj he might encounter other Spiderman and their own villian like sandman , jack o lantern and maybe goblin . Maybe meet spiderham , Spiderman noir or maybe miles . Similar to ultimate Spider-Man season 3 but better
Wonder what another season of x men would have been like Doubt the makers of 97 took much of what the original makers would have done when plotting their show
The original writing team on X-Men TAS has gone on record and stated that they originally planned the show to end with "Beyond Good And Evil" IE the end of season 4 and had no plans for more but were unexpectedly renewed so had to scramble together some plans thus why a lot of season 5 didn't really work. But they did know season 5 would be the finale as "Graduation Day" was meant to end the series and not really leave the door open for anything else. IMHO I do feel it does looking at it now but I can see at the time they were finished with the show and didn't have any more plans. Unlike Spider Man TAS which yeah did have more planned we sadly didn't really get to explore.
Spidey wasn't the only Marvel hero to marry a clone. On the bright side, at least he didn't get Mayday from her. Anyway, I always want Spiderman 98 instead of that forced inclusion crap that's coming out soon.
Exactly, I don't want Spider-Man to just be treated like current Marvel Easter Eggs these days. As if these side Marvel hero promotions in Disney+ content are the skeletons to Kevin Fiege's David Pumpkins; *they're just part of it.*
Personally as cool as this seems I’m all right with it ending the way it did. Now I would much rather a spectacular Spiderman revival though I know that’s very unlikely. Due to a combination of 1. Disney not really caring. 2. Obviously would require much more than Josh Keaton and Greg Weismann to bring things together. 3. Sadly some involved with spectacular are no longer with us and I wouldn’t be surprised if some have or are close to retiring.
HAs E-Rod ever done reviews/thoughts on Ultimate Spider-Man and Marvel's Spider-Man. The former is generally poorly regarded but I hear mixed things about the second
I subscribe to the idea that Marvel universes are subconsciously drawn to designating themselves 616 but they’re so new to multiversal exploration that they don’t know any better while higher multiversal beings do. What If…? clearly refused to get bogged down in designations and I don’t blame them. But to evoke examples The Smallville Earth called itself Earth-1 in relation to the Ultraman universe Clark stumbled upon. The main Arrowverse Earth ALSO called itself Earth-1 and had a different Earth-2, while revealing Smallville Earth to be designated Earth-167. But now Oliver was the one getting to make designations and change them thanks to mergers and other factors. Still, it shows that each universe draws multiversal maps that are self-centric. It’s all about perspective
Back when the show ended, I really wanted more simply because I always want to see more of what I love, but I was able to accept the ending as it did a lot of things to feel satisfactory. One, showing how far Peter has come with even Stan Lee remarking how he wasn't the same character he created all those years ago. Two, even while they didn't find Mary Jane, between Madame Web's words that they would along with the music in that moment, it filled me with a sense of hope that they would even if we never saw it. But hey, if Spider-Man does get revived, you won't see me complaining. ^_^

I really love this series thank you so much for clearing up all this confusion.
Somebody actually wanting to at least partially revive the team from 'Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends'!?!
That's . . . . . . *amazing!* 😲
I demand the revival of the "Spectacular Spider-man".
No thanks
It's never gonna happen
For legal reasons from Sony, it can't happen. Learn to move on and forget the past.

That 65 episode rule Fox had for shows really undercuts their potential to be bigger than they are
Edit: Thanks for clearing up the confusion 🙏🏾
That was Fox Kids’ rule not Disney’s
Disney had nothing to do with that. Disney did not buy Marvel until 2009
Disney didn’t own this show at the time, it was owned by Fox!
The show ended with saving the multiverse so how they could have topped it? Maybe end the series with Spider-Man 2099 adventure?
1:17 Why did you skip over the MTV Spider-Man animated series?
I love that show
