I'm very happy with how the MCU Spider-Man has gone, but I would have liked to see an Amazing Spider-Man 3 done if only to get some closure and finish things off. No Way Home has given something like that and that's good, though.
I still believe that The Amazing Spider-Man (TASM) franchise deserves another chance. It had so much potential and maybe with some rewrites in the plot then we could have a TASM 3 and 4 and they would be good.
Honestly, this story idea is much better for TASM3 than what I predicted. I always laid out a script that intentionally sounded like ideas for a series of movies as a joke for how Sony would've wanted TASM3 to be. 1. Kraven comes to New York to hunt Spider-Man. 2. Peter is still grieving over Gwen Stacy. 3. Peter meets Mary Jane Watson at a group grief meeting. 4. Spider-Man meets Black Cat. 5. Spider-Man gets the alien symbiote from Oscorp. 6. Peter starts working at the Daily Bugle and starts a rivalry with Eddie Brock. 7. Eddie makes up a fake story that frames Spider-Man for a crime. 8. Kingpin teams up with (doops) J. Jonah Jameson to defeat Spider-Man with the Scorpion. 9. Plot Twist: Scorpion is revealed to the man who killed Uncle Ben. The man with the tattooed star on his arm. 10. Spider-Man almost kills Scorpion in a fit of rage. 11. Spider-Man gets rid of the Symbiote and it bonds to Eddie Brock creating Venom. 12. Dr Octopus gets a sample of the Venom Symbiote and uses it to create Carnage. 13. The Carnage symbiote bonds to Kletus Cassidy. 14. Spider-Man and Venom team up to fight Carnage. 15. Dr Octopus forms the Sinister Six and they all fight Spider-Man at the Climax. Consisting of Green Goblin, Rhino, Dr Octopus, Vulture, Kraven and Mysterio. 16. Teases Miles Morales, Symbiote army made by a resurrected Norman Osborn, the Clone saga and the spider-verse. Bare in mind I imagined this all happening in one movie. That's how bad I imagined it.

The demand for Garfield to return is still high. Nostalgia bait is still a thing...unfortunately, and fans would love to see Garfield in the suit again. Far from home cemented that idea. So yes the amazing franchise ended badly, but why can't Garfield be brought back as an older spidey in a more mature film outside of continuity? Like Joker is for DC. I for one would love to see Garfield play Peter Parker in a version of the comic Spiderman life story.
I can see the Potential but also the Problems as it was doomed from the start and the Rushed Production of Sony was so messy there wasn’t any good direction this could go.
While the Sony Spiderverse may be dead, I actually could get behind doing an ASM4. Garfield was actually a VERY good Parker/Spiderman, he just had one mediocre and one terrible movie. As Far From Home shows, he's still got the stuff and deserved better. Cut out the Sinister Six, cut out the franchise-building, just make a Spiderman movie, and I think he'd do great. I don't know if there's an audience for that in a world that ALSO has a Marvel Spiderman, but maybe in some distant parallel timeline.

For me, I think the biggest shame of the Amazing Spider-Man is Andrew's portrayal. Personally, Andrew is my favorite actor to portray the character in live action. Tom and Tobie are both fantastic in their respective takes, but Andrew's take just appealed to me more. Ultimately, I am happy with where the character and the franchise has gone with the MCU, but I wouldn't say no to another chance to see Andrew in the suit again.

I remember when they announced canceling Amazing Spiderman 3 with Andrew Garfield, I was not upset like some fans were. I was not a fan of Andrew Garfield Spiderman movies. Andrew Garfield is a good actor I liked him in Hacksaw Ridge. But his Spiderman portral okay but no Maguire. His Peter Parker portrayal felt more like a punk then Maguire being a brilliant smart scientist.
I am really glad that we got Tom Holland in the MCU Spider-Man movies because the amazing Spider-Man franchise sucked balls, both movies so I’m glad the amazing Spider-Man three got canned

These movies felt like Avi Arad had full control of the franchise with Mark Webb as his director pawn. The first movie was pretty good but the second one was garbage. I wish Mary Elizabeth Winstead was the Mary Jane choice instead of Shalene Woodley.
