Stellar, man. Thanks again for checking out (and commenting!) on my own gaming setup. Yours is the one I borrowed lots of ideas from (uniform shelving, power strip, labeling of systems, CRT TV choice) and I think it's cool that you're able to share this with TH-cam. The explanation and detail you provide in your videos is entertaining and insightful. Anyhoo, be seeing ya around. Til the next vid! Take care
Thank You very much for giving me inspiration I needed to assamble my own game console collection I wanted since I was 15 years old, but couldn't afford way back than. So in last few months after watching Your first video I have bought and restored to perfect condition pretty much every mayor console made in 90s and early 2000s (I'm not so much interested in very old classic consoles). The difference is that I also made drawings for custom wooden shelfs to match living room interior, and with hidden technical areas behind/under them to store cables, power supplies, and additional electronics. I'll report back and make video response in next couple weeks when I'll at least partially assamble all this mess. :) Thank You again!
I think I had the Fairchild Channel X thing when I was a kid. You could play pong, and some painting game I remember.. wasn't much else, but at the time, it was awesome lol
Very cool, I always wanted to figure out a way to have all my systems hooked up at once so I don't have to constantly unplug stuff. I'm just not a big fan of the metal racks, they remind me of kitchen racks, kind of a cold feel.
This is pretty impressive. imagine hooking up the complete 200+ homeconsoles...that'd be a nightmare..and thats not even factoring in the home computers, gaming microcomputers made from 1977 to 1989 where most of the hardware was built into the keyboard and one of the primary uses for them was gaming...a hidden 2.5th gen of gaming nobody mentions. You'd probably need 2 CRTVs and one HDTV for all the home consoles and microconsoles...would be one hell of a setup though...if you like arcade games, id recommend an arcade in a box...its pretty awesome from what ive seen if you want the arcade experience on your tv
DO you use the 72" Height or the 86" height? I thought about getting the 86" just for more room. Though the 72" is easy to space it evenly, 1 shelf every foot. hmm
Rob Hopper Mine are 72". I probably would have chosen 86" had I known about it; more space for additional shelves. They would be harder to set up though since 86" is almost up to the ceiling in my house.
GamingTheSystems I have vaulted ceilings, but you could probably saw just a bit off the top? Are your shelves 36" or 48" across? I measured my consoles and most would seem to fit 2 per shelf, maybe squeeze 3 per shelf with the 48". I want them to all look uniform though, and reserve one shelf to put all my handhelds on stands. I think I am going to go with black. I cant seem to find the right dimensions anywhere cheap if I go the 86" route. All the stores sell the 72" though. I found them cheapest online for $155 each plus $30 shipping.. *dies*
Rob Hopper Mine are 48" across. If you get black, be careful. My mom bought some (from Lowe's) for her kitchen, and when I went over to put them together for her, I noticed that the shelves tended to slide down, even after I locked them in place. I think the black coating keeps them from locking into place securely. Maybe it was just a flawed batch of shelves. I used some tricks to get them more secure, using masking tape.
GamingTheSystems I also thought about if I do get chrome ones, Plasti-dipping the shelving. that way under the clips there is no paint. Sadly I think Im going to have to just save up and buy the ones on Uline.com for $180-sum per shelf. What's nice is I can order individual shelves for them too. I need them soon as I am running out of places to put my consoles lol
+mendyc158 I identify the Milton Bradley Microvision, NEC TurboExpress (basically the handheld version of the TurboGrafx-16) and the Watara SuperVision.
+GamingTheSystems hey if I don't want a chrome shelf for my setup can I use a plastic white plain shelf I'm trying to advance my setup a lot next year and have it almost like yours but with my own designs also any tips for building my setup
Bra I don't know if you have a degree in anything but from the way your talking you are obviously good at Math Physics Measurement and Electrical Engineering.
GamingTheSystems ok thank you for telling me that anyways you have to get you credit for going out way buying and drawing a diagram and using measurement for this something i would never even thought of
Why do you have Genesis controllers under your 2600?
+VerbatimB Because Colecovision ones would just look strange.
GamingTheSystems
Lol, but...why not just 2600 controllers?
+VerbatimB Genesis controllers work great on the 2600. Better than the original imo. They have the same inputs.
Huh, I was unaware. Neat.
also great for abysmal 5200 controls...but you need an adapter i think.

Wow I would pay just to come and visit your place!!! Amazing work!!!
I just finished re-watching part 1 and 2!

AwSoMe....just wow...love the floors and it makes it easy too keep the dust out!
I love the genesis controllers on the 2600. This setup is fantastic. I'm sure this will help me out as I add more systems to my setup.
Awesome job, man. That room blows my mind, even though I'm not that big on retro gaming. You just got a subscriber :)

My room isn't the prettiest, but it works! For the newer TV's, turn your TV to game mode! It varies, of course, but it prevents lag!

great idea, I have owned many wire shelves like yours (mine is grey color), its a good example for me learn, thanks
Looking good hope to see more on the setup and would like to see your collection of video games that you have with each system.
Standing in the middle of all these systems is the equivalent of living next to high line wires....well....probably not, but close :D.
Thanks for this, I'm doing a similar set up.
how do you use a light gun on the original ps1 system being you have to conect the yellow video wire from the gun to near the system ?
I have the same stand u have for ur CRT tv
What the name of music in this video. Please help me. I like this music.
Did you ever get the 32x working the way you wanted it?
omg ur setup is epic i have only an xbox 360 and a laptop all up to 1 tv screen but urs is mental! how long have u been collecting all these consoles?
Awesome :) such an epic setup :)

nice setup man :)
great tips !
Not much room on those shelves for a Pioneer LaserActive, I presume.
that thing is a nightmare...but still a gaming relic...shame it fetches shitloads of money considering what gamers got lol
aaaaaand.... you dont have the xperia play yet?
Which consoles are the ones to the left of the Atari Lynx?
+mendyc158 I identify the Milton Bradley Microvision, NEC TurboExpress (basically the handheld version of the TurboGrafx-16) and the Watara SuperVision.
Kanjilearner Ohh the NEC, true, and the small one to the top of the Watara?

Elijah Pittman I do have a degree, but it's in psychology.

i always found it funny how you can have a degree in something but be good at something else
the shelving is very practical but ugly as sin. Still jealous though :)
