Thb these old carriages with compartments are among my favourite for longer trips. If there is a whole pack of you travelling you can simply book the entire 6ppl or 8ppl compartment and it's way more private than airline-style seating.
Great video! It may be cheaper and retro but it looks like a fun ride. A nice surprise to see a "goggle" loco at the end too - who does't love a goggle loco! Thanks for sharing :)
WKD used to be tram/light rail mix but after WWII it slowly became urban (light) rail, few years back switching from 600V to 3k V voltage (tram to Polish standard)
Hey, the part in the middle is kind of a pain for Poznań. When I see stations like Vienna Hbf it makes me cry... tl;dr + description below: Tl;dr: incompentence and politics mean that PKP (so in practice: central government) doesn't want to invest the station (TOP3 most popular station in Poland by passengers volume) to modern standards and it belongs unfortunately to the PKP and not the city. The nearest date for bringing the station to normalcy is 2026 (!) ;(. The story goes like this: in 2007 Poland was awarded the Euro2012 and it became clear that the old part in the middle needed refurbishing. PKP (Polskie Koleje Państwowe) having the terrains of Poznań Główny and a lot of it around it decided that the middle part will have a different function (offices and hotels) and they build this non-functional on-the-side, for regular passengers, commercial centre and later sold it for €240m. Cool. But since 2012 closure of the old station, nothing has changed and the middle part that used to be a lot more space for passengers than what we have now, hasn't been transformed into anything. They were supposed to create as well another passage for passengers to easily reach the "new and non-functional part" from Głogowska street where the Fair is. Each electoral cycle there were promises but now a date for anything else than a few bars is 2026 (!). It's for a variety of reasons unfortunately: incompetence for the part of PKP and political reasons - Poznań is the biggest opponent of the current right-wing government, so not a lot is being given to us. We wanted even to communalise the station so that the city can finally do something about it but it's a long process. There are some talks now on how to make it more useful. Sorry for the not so super clear description. I like trains/stations etc. and when I see my own city in disrepair in this matter, it makes me sad. Cheers from Poznań :).
The building straight ahead was the old station building. It was built in 19th century, but after being remodelled many times it does not resemble the original design anymore.
Hello. Thanks for the video. I bought my ticket with Polrail but I have not received any seat assignment (1st Class). Any tip to make sure I get a window seat? Thanks
Not sure for how long they have left! They keep modernising a lot of them with air-conditioning from what I can tell. And yes, you can simply just pull the window down, that's how I spent much of the journey.
10:10 hello, thank you for the nice video. do you think we can put 3 luggage of 20kg each above the seats? if not, does first class provide any extra space where we can put our luggage?
Yes, you can. I'm Polish and I promise you we were/are putting much heavier and larger stuff than typical 20kg luggage 😂. Of course it's safer under the seats, but I still wouldn't be too worried.

Great train journey across Poland. The poznan station seems good for transport connections in the city and I liked the compartment fresh air stock too

If not, you can store it on the floor, such as beneath the seats. :)
Yes, you can. I'm Polish and I promise you we were/are putting much heavier and larger stuff than typical 20kg luggage 😂. Of course it's safer under the seats, but I still wouldn't be too worried.

Hello, I am good thank you! How are you?
@@SuperalbsTravels Im Fine! 😀
Hello, that empty rails and elements of old rails its from steam locomotives
Interesting that there is no air conditioning. 🤔 Also, no toilet? Don't think I could handle that!!!!
There are usually two toilets per car in polish trains.
Yes, there are toilets!
TLK is the "cheap" variant of Intercity trains, therefore there is no Air Conditioning.
