    Thank you David Jansen for this exercise. Been working on roses and they are very hard for me for some reason, possible I don't have the paint mixture correct with retarder. I try to get relaxed and play soft classical music to comfort me and the hand. I do well on one stroke roses but of course they do not look life like. Been following you for two months and you are just amazing, A Great Artist!!

    • @JansenArtEducation
      @JansenArtEducation  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One stroke is a good technique but it has a consistent sideload and a structured stroke. It will take many casual roses to stop some of the habits your used to paint those roses. It takes time but can be done... Most likely you are not using enough paint. If you have painted with bottled acrylics before, they are made to flow, so they are much thinner. I paint with much thicker paint. That allows the colors to incorporate better and actually makes painting easier. It take practice. Lots of practice. But can be done! Go over a take a look at one of my students videos. Tamae came to me 5 years ago. Couldn't paint casual roses. I pushed and pushed. Now, she is a very popular teacher in Japan and films a lot of videos. It can be done. Take practice and confidence that you can do it.. th-cam.com/video/OqtzI5A8RyM/w-d-xo.html

      @@JansenArtEducation Thank you David, yes I have changed my Acrylic paints out, using tubes that have a thicker consistency. Using the bottle (Folk Acrylics) for crafts now, the Acrylics in the tube is more thicker and do not need as much, got the mixture down pretty good, what my issues is the design of petals, I get the top going and then when it's time for layering I get stuck. Like you mentioned, have to practice over and over. Thank you for the link. Thank you for helping me much appreciated. Happy Holidays to you!!

    • @rayhawk22
      @rayhawk22 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JansenArtEducation Thank you for the link, she paints Beautifully, Yes I have stopped the Bottled Acrylics months ago, I use tube Acrylics, which the paint is much thicker and do not need so much of it, a simple small squirt of it goes a long way. I was thinking of mixing up paint's as you do and covering on the pallet, have a open pallet and need to find one that has a cover to it, or could use small plastic cups and cover with wrap. Your videos have helped me so much. Took a break over the Holiday, but ready to start back in on the Roses!

    Hi David! I realize I'm late to the party (about a year or so), but today after watching this, I went looking for the S105 class. Found S101, 102 and 104, but not 105. About 2 weeks ago I purchased the basic six color paint set (I actually like mixing colors) and in a video I watched before this one, saw how you placed them in the global palette with the extender mixed in, so while I was looking for the S105 class, I went ahead and purchased the palette and the intermediate brush set. Now, if you could tell me where I can find the S105 class or because I'm a year late, a comparable alternative, I should be ready to start this journey. Many thanks for all the beautiful videos on TH-cam that you share with us.

    Dr sir.
    I'm consider Blind not legally, full
    However it is called DETAIL Vision. I have been searching for someone like you because that is how I see the flowers in my head.
    When I was a small child before foster care I had confidence paint draw Wright.
    And a lifetime of abuse took that away from me that is my fault. However I've been diagnosed with Stage 3C melanoma and that is when the flower Visions started coming back to me. Since I cannot see the entire thing and have to look at it far away it's hard to describe my vision. I have no peripheral and I have to wear a very strong glasses because everything is blurry. Short story long I had a stroke during an emergency surgery and I woke up blind. My daughter seems to think that it's a sign that I am seeing these and so do I and finding you I think God led me to you. Because I understand what you're doing and that's how I see my flowers I just didn't know how to put them down I didn't know how to create them. I have been sketching and have taught myself how to do the depth and whatnot but I need to put it down like you do the paint. I cannot afford your heritage paint I wish I could. So I'm going to have to make due I can't afford your classes either. It's a whole nother story anyway I thank you very much for sharing these and for showing us flowers are beautiful I did look up the artist now I can't think of his name that you're speaking of the 18th century artists. my granddaughter and my daughter both excellent artist and I asked her if I put it down well she look at it and tell me if I did it right and she said yes. She understands what you're saying about the negative and the different stuff I like the fact that you touch the painting and you're moving it it's just the whole technique I understand it I don't know why but I do I don't know how but I do. I prefer to stay wet because I do not move fast enough this particular lesson I understand and I'm going to try it we'll see no pun intended. Thank you again sir you're an excellent teacher and artist

    Will this technique work on canvas board?

    • @JansenArtEducation
      @JansenArtEducation  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It works fine, but the end result is different because of the canvas weave. Board is best to start leaning the technique because you don't have to fight the weave.
