This is a great video! Roshan Ara Jee seems to be in great flow and is enjoying the wonderful accompaniment. I feel that she is one of the artists who is not fully represented in the records and videos we have of her so far... many thanks for sharing.
Ustad Abdul Karim Khan had said "Roshan Ara meri rooh hai" (Roshan Ara is my soul). Deservedly so ! Brightest Star of Kirana Gharana ! Bade Ghulam Ali Khan refused to sing after Roshan Ara sang Raga Basant [Lahore]... So did Ustad Faiyaz Khan, on another occasion. In another instance her Shankara was so enthralling, that Hirabai Barodekar's Maru Bihag couldn't break its spell [Calcutta] ! People would garland the Radio Set, when Roshan Ara Begum performed on Radio !
Tabla accompanied by Ustad Mian Shaukat Hussain Khan is sublime! Even though Rohanara Begum preferred a simple _theka_ for the most part, he has shown glimpses of his imagination and improvisation within that at many instances. What a fluent, clear stream of _bols_ , torrential at times but always being the solid anchor for the vocalist. Not a single instance of a _tiya_ or _taan_ not landing on the _summ_ . What legends!
Absolutely spellbinding! What a comprehensive and fulfulling exposition of Aiman my Malika e Mauseeqi. Not a single instance of repetition. Though the Kirana style is apparent in the vilambit, her _taans_ and _tayyaaari_ are clearly distinctive and quite in contrast with Ustad Abdul Karim Khan's style. The _taans_ are reminiscent more of the Patiala style.
I finally caught a shot of the sarangi player after 27 mins. I think it's Ustad Allah Rakha, which would make sense as it's apparently an Islamabad/Rawalpindi TV performance.

Any idea who is playing the Saarangi? Doesn't seem like Ustad Nazim Ali Khan.
I believe it was Ustad Nabi Baksh who normally accompanied Roshan Ara Begum, but not sure. It does not look like Ustad Nazim Ali, yes.
