- We went down to Auckland, New Zealand back in 2014 to film this incredible machine built by Nigel Petrie of Australia. It was shipped over to NZ in order to film the final driving sequence for "Dream.Build.Drive" a film you can see in full length here. vimeo.com/9356....
We basically did a behind the scenes feature of the drift ute as it was being filmed for the larger scale production. We were more than thrilled to see this thing in action for the first time since Nigel built it.

I remember following this build in concept on speedhunters years ago and what a masterpiece it has become from the tube chassis hand built to the a-arms and built in air jacks, great job on the edit guys!
Ya know when I saw the thumbnail I immediately thought the motor was gonna be a 1jz or a 2jz. Was very refreshing to see that it wasn’t 👌🏽. Beautiful build 🙏🏽

This toyota has been my favorite background for a 1 year and some change, dating back to 2016. It was this and the two 240's on the left, one the lift and the other right under it. One of the best background pictures I had.

Those were a good couple of days filming that :) Sucks to be that professional film crew who fucked off at the very first sign of problems and then we got all the good drifting footage after fixing the truck and getting it back out on track. Great road trip too. Good times all round. Nigel is a top bloke as well. 10/10, would do again.

I used to drift my 92 Toyota with the 22re motor , wasn't always on purpose but it was funny to go in a corner and pull that e brake after dropping a gear then dropping ebrake and clutch on 50 series falcon zeik tires . Vwooppp

Yes that is why in the description we said that this was footage from 2014. In fact I was meant to shoot this truck for the cover of Mini Truckin while we were there but the announcement that Mini Truckin Magazine was given to me right before the shoot.

Zach m It looked like he was running Toyo Proxies r888, the extreme grip from them probably made it want to grip up and straighten out.
Zach m it’s a full tube frame has s13 front suspension and I think it’s s13 rear too
To do with weight distribution. Its so contradictory that the truck is called engineered to slide but drives like a go-cart (snappy as fuck) and seems very difficult to drift. He would need a fuel cell further back behind rear axles to maintain some kinetic energy behind the car for the 'swing' during a drift slide.

Yup, we shot that feature here at the track at the same time. It was supposed to get cover of Mini Truckin but it went under.
