Hello! I was spectical of the delay before buying. But, it's totally ok and I can't tell if it's connected or not. I play cs and nothing changed after connecting it
Hi great video by the way! If you do not mind me asking for confirmation and clarification. I have a desktop PC and I use to screens for it. I also have a work laptop which I also use two other screens for it.. would this allow me to reduce from 4 screens and use the same two screens (mouse etc) and just switch back and forth between my desktop PC and work laptop? Much appreciated.
Thanks a lot mate! Yes it will exactly do that. The specific KVM switch I reviewed has 1 monitor support though. But there are versions available for 2 monitors. On my setup, only middle monitor connected to my work pc. Second monitor is just connected to my personal pc. How it works is exactly you said. You connect your monitor or monitors and mouse/keyboard to KVM switch. Then you connect your PC and laptop. With a click of a button, all monitors, keyboard and mouse switches from 1 pc to the other. You’ll love it mate it makes life a lot easier if you use 2 pc :) If you have any further questions, let me know
@@thequirkyengineerSorry not sure if my reply was posted. So basically i need to find a KVM switch that supports 2 monitors (dual) and 2 computers? Like the Greathtek KVM Switch 2 Monitors 2 Computers? Thanks again.
In my personal experience, it being 2.0 USB instead of 3.0 would not make any difference for mice and keyboards. Only if you wanted to have a SSD or something, which would also be limited by the 3.0 USB connection. This is a budget option with a simple solution, there are other kvm docks that cost around $300 which have 3.0 connections and even USB C power output option.
Indeed mate. And, as you said, even if you want to connect ssd, you still lost performance going with usb 3.0. So, spending that extra cache on something else might be more worthy. Thanks for the comment mate :)
Hi there! Ugreen kvm switch I'm using in this video has only 1 output. I just connect 1 monitor to KVM and the other to my PC directly. It's not switchable by the KVM. But, you can buy something like amzn.to/47bDL1i that supports 2 monitor outputs.
I'm looking to buy this switch simply because i'm hoping that it will also work with my Rapoo wireless keyboard/mouse combo. I can't find a definite answer if the Ugreen switch does this, but it looks like it would work. I've not found any KVM switch that actually works with a single wireless receiver for mouse and keyboard.
I don’t have a wireless keyboard/mouse combo but I have a wireless mouse, logitech g pro, plugged in. I had no issues. I think yours would work with the switch as well 🤞🏻I wish I had a keyboard and mouse combo to try for you but I don’t have any mate :/ If you decide buying, let us know how it works. Of course mate! UGREEN USB 3.0 switch only switches USB and doesn't include any HDMI switch. So you cannot connect monitors. You can only connect mouse, keyboard, printer, etc. On the other hand, KVM switch includes USB switch (2.0 or 3.0) and HDMI switch together. You can connect monitors and other peripherals. When you press the button, monitor and your keyboard, mouse and other devices switches to the other computer. If you had USB switch only, then all the USB devices will switch to other computer, not the monitor though. I hope I explained it well mate. I would love to help :)
Thanks for the reply! I must admit I am still very confused, I had watched a few other reviews of the USB UGREEN Switch (not KVM) and they said that you can use it to switch between a work computer and personal computer. I have a personal gaming PC with a monitor and then a work laptop with a separate monitor. I want to be able to switch between work and personal when I have downtime so I can continue watching youtube videos whilst I work etc. So are you saying the USB switch won't let me control the monitors when pressing the button? Sorry for the questions, I just don't understand this at all@@thequirkyengineer
Hello again, I might understand now but correct me if I'm wrong.. so if I got the USB switch I can still switch between personal PC and work PC but the monitors wont all be in use? i.e my laptop and 2 monitors wont all be able to be used it would be just my work laptop and monitor I can use, and then when I switch back to personal PC I can only use the personal PC monitor? I think that would be fine for me as I want to keep work monitors and personal monitors separate@@thequirkyengineer
Oh yea you got it right at the last comment. If you want to use seperate monitors, USB switch will be the right choice. I’ll tell how it works. You are using your work pc and your keyboard, mouse etc. You pressed the USB switch and your work computer will be staying the same. But, all the USB devices connected to the switch will be disconnected. And connected to your personal pc. Now, you can use your mouse and keyboard on personal pc to change video, change music , play games etc on a seperate monitor. In addition, you’ll still see the work monitor nothing is changing there. Only change is keyboard and mouse is connected to personal pc. I hope I could explain well now. So, as long as you have seperate monitors and you don’t want to switch monitors, USB switch is the way to go. If you had single monitor and wanna switch that as well, then you’ll need a KVM switch. For your case right now, you don’t need it and you only need USB switch mate :) @Soarific
