    Just to put your kitchen into perspective, I have just enough counter space to put a cutting board and an electric kettle. That's it, and I have ONE drawer for silverware and anything else that needs a drawer. Also have very little storage.
    Your kitchen is a dream! Lol

    THANK YOU for blurring out the chicken. We have a small, organic, regenerative, no-kill farm and we have chickens. They are pets/feathered family members, each loved and cherished. They romp and play outside and in the process, make compost for our farm. They’re AWESOME!
    The thought of anyone eating chicken is devastating to me. They are smart, socially-complex and just as worthy of love and companionship as any dog or cat.
    Chickens rock! Thank you for not showing dead chicken. ❤️

      What do you do with the eggs?

    • @amy3458
      @amy3458 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@user-dt3hk7fu8w They eat them. When they were young, we did sell them to those who truly wanted humanely produced eggs. Our chickens live in the very first house built on our farm, from back in the 1950s. They get the whole house.
      We sold some of their eggs to help offset the cost of their organic feed, which we travel seven hours to get. But it was always the excess of what they couldn’t eat.
      Now that they are all 5-11 years old, they eat all of their eggs as they’ve naturally slowed in egg laying.
      We want them to live long, happy lives and have been blessed to have such longevity in our flock!

    can you figure out how to make the deep fried tofu that you can buy from asian grocery stores in the fridge section? the super spongy soak up all the sauce ones? i've not found any good recipes but maybe involves freezing the tofu

      Are you talking about tofu puffs?? I was on a hardcore hunt on how to make these a while ago. What I found out was that it's rly about the way the manufacturer makes the tofu. If u can find it freshly made locally, u might be in luck. I just decided to deep fry all the tofu brands i could find at my local grocers. Luckily ONE WORKED (and only one) and puffed up like i was looking for. NONE of the others did what i was looking for, they were not at all like the desired tofu puffs i was looking for. The brand that puffed up beautifully and deliciously (puffy & golden) for me was the company called "tofu shop," i used their firm tofu.
      Before finding the Tofu shop brand, I've previously tried freezing and i personally didn't get that Tofu puff result i was looking for but it was good.
      Just want to share cuz i know how difficult it was to find out how to make it at home! Hope that helps!
      PS THEY FKN ALSO TASTE DELICIOUS IN EVERYTHING. From salads, pasta, asian food, etc. They're THEBOMB.COM

    Seems like you need to do a side by side comparison to judge the merit of this.
    One dipped in water, one not dipped, and one with a wet batter.

    Candice, this looks fantastic though I will agree it is also very tedious. Anyway I'm going to try it with larger flat slabs of tofu and then also experiment with club soda and also dark beer. I'll let you know what happens with my new grease fire 😮

    Liked and subscribed a couple videos ago for your vegan egg stuff. I can totally relate to you as an ADHD vegan lol. Keep up the great work! This looks so good but I'm not sure if I want to make it because it does look a bit tedious.

    Yeah I had a mishap once in the kitchen and used a dry chem fire extinguisher. If you're going to use a dry chem fire extinguisher indoors, you might as well just let the whole place burn to the ground. That mess is not something you can recover from. The fire extinguishers I have now are Haloton. No powder but you do have to ventilate or get out pretty quick.

    I make tofu nuggets all the time breaded with corn meal and before I coat them they are still pretty wet out of the press. The water is squeezed out of the middle but it's probably just as wet on the outside as it would be if it was just dunked in water like you did. I cook mine a little longer to make it crispier. There's quite a bit of water in the pan when I get done but not so much that I can't throw in some french fries.

    OMG, Candy, I had a similar experience: Wehen I was younger, I lived in house with my landlords. We wree like family. I wanted to cook food and poured some oil in my cooking pot , turned the heat to hegh and wanted to wait until the oil is hot. Suddenly I heard a bang and then I saw a fire . The oil had heated itself up too much. I screamed and was literally paralyzed. My Landlord came to save the whole thing. I learned a lesson by this: NEVER take your eyes away from a pot with oil in it.

    I never heard of deep frying tofu.
    I’ve heard of people putting tofu in the freezer and thawing it, then getting all the water out so it’s more meaty (Pressing it)
    Do you think this could be made like a french fry alternative?

    • @KerriEverlasting
      @KerriEverlasting ปีที่แล้ว

      Omg yes of course- the best way imo is to cut the tofu into desired size and shape, boil until soft, drain, let the steam evaporate off then roll in cornstarch then fry in oil. Be sure to fry each side twice for ultimate crunch. Can be salted and refrigeratored and reheated in air fryer. Yum ❤

    If you put a dry coating on something then dip it in water, all your are basically doing is creating a really lame batter, and mostly just washing off the coating.

    When you say "deep fry with water" that is very deceptive, you're not deep frying anything with water, you're just dipping it in water before deep frying it with oil.
