Thank you so much for the dandelion “coffee” recipe! I am harvesting dandelions for the first time this year, and am so looking forward to making this a yearly thing! Health is wealth ♥️
Thank you for sharing. You’re the only one I’m finding online that goes into how to tell it apart from other look alike leaves. NOT just the flower, which won’t be present when we’re all harvesting. I’m shocked it’s so hard to find info on leaf identification, for this crazy popular plant! Like what?! Hah.
Thank you for this video, I want to harvest roots for my dog. She's a 16 year old Pug that's obsessed with digging and eating the roots. I figure she knows what she needs so I want to make sure she can have them through the winter. After watching this, I may use them myself.
Wow, I've never heard of dogs digging dandelion roots, but that's super cool! As far as I know they're safe for dogs, but might want to check with a vet??
@@fourseasonforaging, I did in fact get the green light from our vet.. And yes, it is pretty cool that she digs them up, that's why I started researching, which lead to you 😊
My nephew harvested the dandalion roots for me he froze it. Now I am soaking the roots in water, attempting to clean. Are the roots still good to make a tincture to use?
@@fourseasonforaging yes i love digging sticks too but straight down and pry up The root pops from the ground you really hear it Wiggle the plant to see if it is loose it should be This disturbs the area less because the foot flattens it back easy So you can remove lots at once
I'm still here! The growing season ends in October in Minneapolis, so I don't make videos until it starts again in May. Alas, it's been a crazy year and I'm way behind... but I do have lots of footage to make into videos!
Thanks for this! Hoping you might be able to help me with something.. I just harvested some root and roasted it for 'coffee' and it's my first time doing it at home (though I drink a lot of dandy tea from roasted root I've bought). It tasted totally delicious, however I was left with a worrying feeling in my throat afterwards 😨. It's summer where I am so not during the period that you recommend for harvesting. Do you recommend harvesting in Autumn because they'll be sweeter then, or is there a more virulent reason for this that you're aware of??! I wondered if the feeling I'm getting is similar that you get from tannins.. In case helpful, I didn't peel the roots and I made the 'tea' in a coffee percolator.
Hi Amie! Sorry to hear about your unpleasant experience! My first inclination would be to say you have a dandelion allergy, but since you've had the store-bought roasted root, that's probably not the case. Are you sure that all the plants you picked were indeed dandelion? There is an edible look alike called evening primrose that sometimes gives people a scratchy feeling at the back of the throat, but that's usually just when eaten raw. I don't think harvesting the roots in summer would cause that problem. I hope you're able to find some answers! Good luck!
@@fourseasonforaging Thanks for this. No definitely not evening primrose, though good to know about that! It's autumn here now, so maybe I should try doing another harvest and roast and see if that changes anything. Shall let you know if so!
I think your so sweet I know your shy just teach us honey honestly you’re doing great!!!!! Thank You 🙏

I agree! People just assume that it's easy to identify dandelion, but it can definitely be tricky when there are no flowers present!
Thank you for posting this! I'm cultivating some dandelions this year and this has been a great resource
Glad to hear it! :) I hope they provide you with some tasty meals!
How do you cultivate dandelion?
@@wendymccleary1465 Probably wouldn't have too much trouble cultivating it - it seems to thrive wherever it grows! :)
I just harvested my first dandelion plants and root and so excited to roast it. Thank you for sharing!
Very informative.. Thank you 😊
I appreciate it! :)
Thank you! I appreciate you sharing your knowledge.

My intention is to freeze pieces of the fresh roots for my dog. If that not a good idea please feel free to let me know. Thanks so much😊

Fabulous
I stick the shovel straight down and wiggle and it pops out without messing up the lawn too much
Thanks for the tip!

Yup, like I say in the video, I prefer using a trowel. The digging stick is more for emergency situations 😅
@@fourseasonforaging yes im so glad you mentioned it the stick is great i love using it in the woods around roots of trees :)
I’m here to decalcify my pineal gland…
I wonder where she disappeared to 8 months ago? Im a big big fan of dandelion for everything myself as well.

Why did you give up?
I don't think I will be donating money. People are usually making videos because they want to share info or entertain for nothing.
You talk too much and don't show
