    An update for Nolan Patrick:
    Patrick had his injury issues prior to being drafted, which caused concerns, but after being in the NHL for a couple years he was diagnosed with a hereditary migraine disorder which is why he missed the 2019-20 season. Many people give out misinformation that they were "concussions", even though he did receive a couple concussions during his time in the NHL that is not what started the downfall.

      It's crazy I was rooting for him to be #1 pick and now he can't even get on a team at 24...

    As an isles fan I was so happy raty fell to us. Not only that but right after the draft he scored a hatty in Finland. He’s been moving in the right direction since the draft. It had to be long covid symptoms or just the stress of the lockdown that halted his progression. Sucks we traded him bc he’s gonna be a stud 2-4 years

      oh boy, lemme as a local tell you it had nothing to do with him but the team he was in. honestly, the team put so much strain on him because they kept telling him to work harder to make the lineup or get a chance in top 6 and then later said "he works out too much" and it's like what do you want the kid to do huh? and he literally wanted to quit hockey at that point. (note: maybe it was mental, but his mom is a psychologist so i'd rather say that feeling of wanting to quit stemmed from something way deeper than not being able to handle stress.) and the coaches he had there preferred other centres over him even if he was playing better than any of them. because when he got traded to another liiga team, they actually trusted him and they actually WANTED him on the team, and he obviously outscored his entire hometown team by the end of season. so it was: just give the kid a chance and let him play instead of holding him back in 4th line and healthy scratching him for every second game.

    Joe Velano comes to mind right away. He was ranked #1 for months.

    Wright dropped to 4 in my mind because the real perk with him is that his floor is bonkers high. You really know what you are getting
    Slaf was picked because Habs wanted a Power forward 1st liner, Jersey needed a D in Nemec, and Arizona already had their heart set on Cooley so they didn't look elsewhere.
    Seattle moved him around so much this year that he couldn't get used to any systems also. (Played for 4 teams and all were new except the World Juniors team)

      Unfortunately the rules regarding minors players really screwed his development this year.

    Any time you're called the 'steal of the draft' by Pierre McGuire, you're doomed.

    I don’t think aatu raty was rated top pick, he was always low first round.

    • @hockeyxchange3
      @hockeyxchange3  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      He definitely was a top rounder for awhile, many scouts projected he had the ceiling of a 1st overall pick a year before he was draft eligible but the year he was eligible he regressed substantially

    • @ZekeAmishAssassin
      @ZekeAmishAssassin ปีที่แล้ว

      Aatu Raty was no question in the running for the #1 prospect years prior to his draft. Even months before his draft he was a consensus top 10 pick then as the draft got closer he fell.
