Mario supposedly broke guy lafleurs unbelievable records in junior pro hockey. Supposedly. Still? Though? Guy lafleur is still the only professional hockey player in history to have recorded 2 straight seasons of 100 goals or more in each season. And the only player to ever record two pro seasons of 100 goals or more, period. A few others accomplished it. I think pat lafontaine is one. But I can’t remember? Yet the interesting thing about Mario and guy is this. Despite Mario’s incredible final junior pro season? Guy is still the only player in history to be able to say he recorded 3 points a game in a pro league. Not even Mario can say that. As Mario ended up with 2.8 points a game scored on average . In his junior professional career. Now Considering what Mario accomplished his last junior pro season? That’s almost shocking. Lafleur still ended up ultimately with more points a game. Exactly 3 points a game recorded throughout his junior pro career. Including 130 goals in 62 games his last pro junior season. Lemieux got 133 in 68 games in Lemieuxs last junior season.’ That’s incredible. Though on the pace lafleur was on? In lafleurs last junior season? Lafleur clearly would have ended up with around 150 goals in the regular season. If lafleur had played 68 games. Like Lemieux. Which still blows Mario’s 133 goal junior pro record away.

Great list and video content as always mate.
bro put a mikhail grabovski clip in during the sundin segment
In an Elston cartoon a Chicago player with Hudson on his helmet was shown a set of golf clubs, and his reaction was "I've been traded to the Oilers!" So I'm assuming he was traded for Joe Murphy if the timeline adds up, as the cartoon was drawn during the 1992-93 season.
Mario is far more talented than Gretzky. Mario’s record of scoring 5 different goals in 5 different ways will never be broken.
1. Even Strength
2. Short-handed
3. Power play
4. Penalty Shot
5. Empty Net
Well done!
Dale still reached a level 80% of nhl players dont reach which is great for him man
2:59 When you pause the video here it says Dale Howard. Lol
Imagine a defensive combo of Ray Bourque, and a healthy Kluzak for about 15 years.
Sorry to hear about Joe Murphy. Why isn't he being provided with support?
my team captain of that decade would be wendell clark , Lemieux was the best of them all but I would give the C to Clark
RIP Hawerchuk
GREAT video!!! Can someone tell me why Pierre Turgeon is not in the Hall of Fame? Come on!!!
Imagine losing a game 72-1 ...
What a great video thank you I love hockey I played a little bit of hockey in my youth but that was very informative thank you
Love your vids man! Some of the best hockey content just found your channel definitely subbing
You should fix your chapter marker:
- Pierre Turgeon, not Pierre Turon
- Mike Modano, not Mika Madano
- Mats Sundin, not Matt Sundin
- Wendel Clark, not Wendle Cark (This one in the video only)
The others looks OK to me (Although apart from Lemieux, I do not know those other former 1st-pick of the 80s)
Clark played for a Leafs side similar to the current team, they didnt give a shit. So he did everything, and his body suffered for it.
If Clark's back had stayed healthy, he would have been one of the best.
Habs coull have drafted Paul Coffey. Imagine. Robinson w Coffey. Would have been the best pair in NHL history
wow .... Joe Murphy's story is sad indeed! Todays players would have way more support from the league and not end up homeless because of how he's was affected by multiple concussions playing a sport!
Now
Considering what Mario accomplished his last junior pro season?
That’s almost shocking.
Lafleur still ended up ultimately with more points a game.
Exactly 3 points a game recorded throughout his junior pro career.
Including 130 goals in 62 games his last pro junior season.
Lemieux got 133 in 68 games in Lemieuxs last junior season.’
That’s incredible.
Though on the pace lafleur was on?
In lafleurs last junior season?
Lafleur clearly would have ended up with around 150 goals in the regular season.
If lafleur had played 68 games.
Like Lemieux.
Which still blows Mario’s 133 goal junior pro record away.
Lemieux 🐐
WICK 14! 💙
It still bothers me that kids today think that Crosby is the greatest Penguin ever. That’s because they aren’t old enough to have watched Mario play.
14:43 the Philadelphia fans never ever cheered another teams player. No matter what sport the
Philly team was playing. Once the Eagles were playing
Those pesky Dallas Cowboys in the mid 1990's, and the loud mouthed #88 Michael Irwin got badly hurt on the field. They had to cut off the facemask on Irving's helmet (neck injury situation) & to buckle the guy down to the stretcher! As the medical staff were wheeling #88 of the field the Eagle Fans were clapping that he was injured! Philadelphia is a crazy town and for those meat heads to take a timeout and celebrate Mario's cancer comeback is awe inspiring to me!
❤❤❤
RIP Turgeon’s daughter
Imagine Super Mario was healthy.PERIOD. Joe Murphy…… I feel for you Sir 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Get help Plz Sir
Wasn't Borje captain?
No he was an alternate captain. He wore the A
Who was he alternate to? Sounds bizarre that the great Borje was not announced captain.@@wizzerwiser2056
26:59 no goal
Joe's living on the streets in Kenora Ontario
High school player, no way that was a bad pick, college level better off, nhl needs to be helping Murphy or at least the union which took his dues
The pens would be in Canada if not for Mario both times
lol, murphy his mouth got him to where he is today
No. Joe Murphy suffered a traumatic brain injury. He left the ice bleeding from the head, nose, and mouth. His former wife said his personality changed that day. He became severely depressed and delusional. It's really a tragedy.
Totally agree . Just watching the clip, you can see where things just flipped around.@@dominicpardo4783
@@dominicpardo4783even though I didn’t know who he was prior to this video, I felt depressed just hearing how he lost it all. Truly distressing
@cjm8160 I was a Blackhawks season ticket holder during his tenure. He was a fun-loving guy then. He gave a lot of his money to friends and family. Many players have reached out to help him. But he seems stuck. It's a real shame.
153 PIMs in the 80s is not "whopping"
153 penalty minutes was not WHOPPING in the 1980's.
how on earth did the 4 time defending Stanley Cup champions get the #1 overall pick? LOL
For Christ's sake... Brian Lawton , NOT Laden!!
