As long as the actual siren speakers use a reasonable volume, the EQ2B is the best siren for Fire trucks, no doubt.
I would argue that the mechanical q has a more grainy and characteristic tone. EQ is similar but the sound is very smooth and sharp
Yes, I add it as most favorite in fire trucks and least favorite in ambulances and battalions.

We had one of the original EQ2s on a '92 Type II Ford ambulance. It replaced the PA500 which sucked. But this one has a truer Q tone than what we had.

These second generation units are much better than the first, louder and a much closer sound to the mechanical Q.
Our fire department only specifies the EQ2B and it has eliminated the use of big alternators to power the mechanical Q2B on the apparatus.

Red box is an amp and is needed I believe.
