    Love this!! Does every college have college parents and do that night out? It sounds soo good!!! Also is the nightbus a Durham service or open for everyone?

    • @BilgiDemirsoz

      Thank you! Yes I believe every college does their own parents night during freshers week. It is really good fun! The Newcastle to Durham night bus is open to everyone, it's not a specific university organised bus. The Newcastle night during freshers' week has a bus both to Newcastle and back from the city which will be organised by college though. :)

    This video was once again very informative.❤️ Is Durham vegan friendly and are there good thrift stores?

    • @BilgiDemirsoz

      Thank you! Yes Durham has some really lovely independent vegan cafes that you'll love! There's one called the Jumping Bean Café (in a side road on North Road), which is really cute and quaint which does great vegan drinks and food. They do a good vegan brownie! :) At college there are of course vegetarian options and you could definitely let the college know you need to be catered to a vegan diet if you're at a catered college. (They usually have soya milk at breakfast but you could always buy some and keep it in the fridge on your corridor and just take it down for breakfast to be sure.) Durham used to have lots of fab thrift stores and vintage shops (my fave was called Scarlett Ribbons - they did amazing American denim jackets that were oversized! Literally had mine for years now!) but over the last few years a few have closed as the rent has been soooo high! But Durham does a thrift sale in the DSU at some point during each term so that's well worth going to. Scarlett Ribbons is now online too I believe. :)

    Thank you so much for this, a quick question tho. I don't drink (personal and religious reasons) so do yoy think that would be a massive problem?

    Kind of an odd question but what do people do about jackets on nights out? Is there somewhere to put them or do people just got without?

    • @BilgiDemirsoz
      @BilgiDemirsoz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, Durham can be very cold as it's in the North so personally I'd say wear the jacket and pay to put it in the coat closet at the club. Not all the clubs have somewhere you can pay to put them so in that case sweatshirt around the waist works v.well :) Hope this helps!

    Before nights out what are pres like at Durham? Is it like drinking games and stuff too?

    • @BilgiDemirsoz
      @BilgiDemirsoz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So the pre-drinks at Durham will be either people gathering in someone's room with music etc and then either heading out straight away (probably at about 9 - 10:30pm) or sometimes people go to the college bar for a drink or two first, as this is a good start to a night out, especially if it's your college's specific night out (where one club will mainly be full of people from your college). People do play drinking games too (you don't have to do this though if you don't want to obviously). If there's a formal first, people will have wine with dinner and that's sort of the pres!

    Hey, I was just gonna ask- i work at a company and they said they would transfer me to Newcastle- is it feasible for me to live in Durham and work in Newcastle once a week??

    • @BilgiDemirsoz
      @BilgiDemirsoz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, yes I'd say it's feasible to live in Durham and work in Newcastle one day a week. If you're doing an art subject you'll have plenty of free time for sure, and if you can work at the weekend then apart from some society activities that sometimes take place, you'd be free. Lots of students work a part time job whilst at uni. I worked in my college toastie bar on an evening once a week during my freshers year.

    How is the nightlife and college life gonna be affected due to the ongoing pandemic? Are we gonna experience any of this anytime soon?

    • @BilgiDemirsoz
      @BilgiDemirsoz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's definitely more precautions for health and safety but people have started to go out to bars and for dinners now. We will have to see how things progress in the coming months, but college will always ensure that you have an experience that's memorable, even if it is in this new manner. So yes I'm sure there will be at least some activities probably starting from September 2021. Hope this helps!
