Very helpful video. Did not realize how much my natural motion is to open up the club in the backswing.

Thanks for clarifying I’ve come to the square take back and downswing myself, and didn’t know if I’m missing out by not trying something else.

Great video. Just did a lesson and the teacher told me this exact thing.
I was always hitting weak fades. Hopefully this will fix it. Thanks.

This is exactly what I've been focusing on in the last few weeks, making sure my face is square to closed on takeaway, which sets those wrist angles up so much more naturally. Its been working so well i'm having to readjust my grip cause all the sudden the face is much easier to close apposed to leaving it open which I tend to do.
    Amazing new setup dude !!

Thanks Larry! This is exactly what I've been looking for. Can't wait to take it out to the range/course.

Larry thank you very much. I’ve looked at tons of videos that talk about how the club face should look without going through the basics of the takeaway. I’m a golfer that struggles with flipping the club. I’m generally a pretty consistent ball striker but tend to be hitting an 8 when others with the same swing speed are hitting a pitching wedge. I will try to take this to the range tomorrow; feeling optimistic!

How is the grip neutral? Dp you find you throw your right hip into the ball or just turn?

Having learned golf in the early 90s the toe to the sky drill was taught in every magazine or club pro in the land. It’s crazy to do this now.

Totally. Back in the days it was all about hinging and unhinging the wrist at impact. 30 years later and I'm still trying to work that out of my system

Along with high hands at the top of your backswing, and shoulders closed to the target at impact. This is all blowing my mind.

It's like they did it on purpose so we'd suck and have to use them for lessons or something because yeah today it's nuts to even think about that being taught. I tried so much to make that work and it just doesn't.

Thanks Larry as usual very good video. Would starting with a very closed club face in the takeaway help to train my brain to get used to a more inside swing as currently suffer from over the top?

Hi just wondering why in the backswing top most pros have the clubface pointing more downward than upward

Excellent checkpoint for Prescott routine. On another note, during your downswing do you try to keep the lead upper arm pressed against your chest? Does it feel like you are turning your chest into your upper lead arm ? Thanks

I like lead arm pressed against chest yes =)

Larry - I have a setup in the backswing that looks just like this (with the driver) problem is I have the tendency to swing 1-3deg in to out but my club face is opening at impact sometimes as much as 8deg. Any ideas how I'm managing that if I'm pretty square at the top of the backswing?

    • @LarryCheungGolf
      @LarryCheungGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

You are probably holding on to your wrist angles, just try to close the face earlier =)

So basically have the clubhead match the angle of your spine at takeaway and match the angle all the way to the top of the backswing and through the downswing until impact?

the best part is he says "ball" and "swing" instead of "golf ball" and "golf swing" every time, unlike every other instructor on youtube
