Waveform is part of the Vox Media Podcast Network. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
Cleo Abram: “How do we smash atoms together and why?”
Waveform podcast: “So uh… how does a boat work?”
The duality of man.
Both are interesting in their own ways ig 👀💯
I think its actually because in their collab video they used a boat as an analogy for quantum computers
@@comogamesghtri think its about something david? said a few episodes ago about not knowing how they work and not wanting to learn to keep the intrigue of it
I live for this podcast's comment section.
Boat? You meant floatplane, right?
Oops.. too soon?
Glad to see big influencers like cleo supporting small creators like marques by appearing on their pod 🙌
I unironically was introduced to MKBHD on Cleo’s channel
@@tjs8433 no way xD
Their quantum computer collab was a great introduction to this world. Now I’ve gotten in so deep I’ve reached the level of podcast listener 😂
Ship. But also, love them both. 👌🏼
Dude !
Its was wonderful to see Natalie Portman and MKBHD together
Lmfaoooo
Dude she didn't do star wars 😂
You mean Kiera Knightley
but it’s Kiera
They look similar but her face is narrower and she’s probably taller
Please make “how do boats work?” merch!!
I think at this point David deserves to have an episode of "how do boats work". 😂 Marques did mention that he loves explaining stuff...
Cleo is outrageously articulate. She’s so good it comes across like a super power.
I was just trying to think of how to express this without coming across like a 10yo fanboy. Nice job.
Extremely. I always wonder if that’s something your born with or something you can improve over time and learn as a skill. Either way it’s fascinating.
To someone like me who is terrible at articulating and just bad at speaking in general, it definitely is a super power. I’m jealous of people like Cleo and Marques who are so well spoken.
@@Nick-kb2jc yeah it’s like, how do they do it? Do they learn how to talk like that?
@@bdfwhhsb yes, is a skill more than to know about a particular subject and sometimes good, sometimes not and sometimes is definitely sad
It gets you to believe they know stuff but they know a whole lot of nothing
I watched a video of them collabing about quantum computing, it was an interesting video but then I realized she talked a lot of (nothing) she didn't explain anything of everything
And everyone complained too 😂 just read the comments
Two very articulate people that are extremely savvy in their own fields. What a great podcast!
I'm curious, what would you say is MKBHDs field
@@RedditDailyC is it not clearly tech?
@@KrisTheHuman Tech is a HUGE field, I'm tempted to say consumer tech.. I think that's more accurate
yea that's pretty much it@@RedditDailyC
@@RedditDailyCmark often has good takes in consumer/layman tech
With all the uncertainty in the world it's nice to know that Waveform is still here every Friday.
Is this a dig at WAN? 😅
@@daniellehotsky1776 Bizarre comment - embracing remaining stability in times of chaos is a totally normal thing to do, don’t be a weirdo about it
What happened brother? What uncertainty
Hello, Editor of Huge if True here!
Super cool watching this podcast every week and then having the videos you work on mentioned in it! Working for Cleo is such an amazing experience and so I’m glad y’all got a little BTS of how she creates the videos we all make together!!
Congrats on the achievement of a million subs!! I love the video's y'all make
Great job! Love the work you guys do. its such an inspiration to watch!
Marques and Cleo have 2 of my favorite voices to just listen to. They inspire me to learn while simultaneously relax me.
yes!!!
I lowkey feel they are dating.
@@stephenwilson1640 he has a girlfriend🫡
@@stephenwilson1640 She's actually married to someone else. Their chemistry is brilliant though! I haven't seen other creators with this chemistry yet.
Throw Micheal Fisher in there and it would be the audio experience ever
I didn’t know Cleo, but as someone studying biology, i am so happy when she mentioned AlphaFold. She just sheds light on AI tech that isn’t quite flashy enough to put on a headline like GPT or Midjourney, but is making a huge impact on health and medicine. Thanks!!!
Nvm, I did see her quantum computer video with mkbhd but forgot her name, omg, she is awesome
Cleo is great, Marques is great, their first collab was great, and man am I happy to see that it wasn't the last! Keep up the great work, we love your content!
It’s kiera knightly 😶
As a scientist and specifically a structural biologist (I study protein and RNA structures) I was amazed at Cleo mentioning AlphaFold! To drive medicine forward, you really have to understand what shape and sizes proteins take and how can we, as scientist, could design potential medications that target these proteins to prevent them from working or maybe even improve some proteins function.
For decades, there have been 3 structural techniques that can solve protein and RNA structures - 1) Nuclear Magnetic resonance, 2) X-Ray crystallography, and 3) Cryo-EM and all three have their differences pros and cons. But now AlphaFold can predict 3D protein structures without having to solve a structure with one of the 3 techniques and it is especially good by looking at single domain proteins - a segment that can fold independently while AlphaFold has more difficulty with multi domain proteins - one segment folding affects another segment. The next future steps will be how can AI predict RNA structures and more complex structures like RNA binding to proteins.
Hope this helps clarify some of the points but loved to see biomedical science being discussed in the podcast!
Since she launched her solo channel she's been one of the most inspirational channels today, refreshing journalism with integrity and doesn't tackle a subject until she has a solid perspective
Exactly. I respect her approach so much!
--Lauren
I think Cleo should have a monthly feature on the podcast!
"It's more fun to take things seriously" - Cleo Abrams - Love this quote
I just love her smile 🤩
She does have one of the highest quality tech channels out there. Excellent at explaining complex topics and refreshingly optimistic while also presenting potential drawbacks.
This is my dream colab, I always loved this duo between marques and cleo❤
Started watching Cleo last year after watching her intro to F1 video and I've been hooked since
Probably one of the best episodes ever. It was incredible seeing Marquees’ expertise and charisma make Cleo’s amazing articulation and cadence really shine
Cleo defeating Marques in typing speed is honestly the thing I did not expect to see this week
Cherry on top of a great episode!
I love that she said she never reaches expert l; one it's the truth, and two she keeps in mind the trust placed on her by the audience.
good point
Cleo's optimism is contagious. I really try to give tech support to those around me with that same optimism. A perfect example of the kind of person we should all strive to be in our daily lives. This was a great interview and a great way to wrap up the week.
This!!
Two brilliant knowledgeable presenters - Cleo’s enthusiasm is infectious and Marques’ honesty in all things always shows. Creating anything (film, art etc) is the search for truth in what you are trying to accomplish and these two nail it every time.
I love the way she talks about her team and lifts them up. Instant respect for that.
As a former biologist, it can't be understated how great Cleo's explanation of Alphafold was straight off the bat. For someone whose supposedly not well versed in the topic, they did a fab job of breaking it down in simple terms.
okay so i usually dont leave a comment but spare me on this one bc how is it possible that these past week I've been so so obsessed with cleo's huge if true videos and then she suddenly show up in waveform which is like my favorite podcast?!?!?!?! You guys thanks for creating videos together (PLEASE HAVE MORE) happy to see both of my favorite tech people in one frame ✨
yes to this
Never heard of Cleo until today. Subbed to her channel immediately. I’ve enjoyed the interview immensely.
Really delightful interview! Watching two very smart and very articulate people bounce off each other is really compelling and held my attention for far longer than expected. 🥰
Cleo is so awesome. Great interview 👍🏻
1 great you have guests, 2 great guest (she is amazing), 3 great topic
Absolutely wonderful interview. Cleo is so wonderfully and thoughtfully articulate. Her and Marques have a really great rapport and the interview flow was perfect.
It is rare to see Marques being "out-nerded" by someone in these videos. On a sidenote, you know it is an awesome episode when you feel like you are more intelligent after watching it. Kudos!
I enjoyed this episode! Cleo Abram's videos are incredibly captivating.
Love the content that Cleo is creating. Looking forward to more of it on youtube!
Cleo has a great talent as a presenter. Smart , professional, straightforward, seemingly unbiased and objective... obviously beautiful and very well spoken, She's got it all.
I'm about midway through but just had to get this off my chest, I am so shipping these two. Their minds are just something to marvel at, lovely listen.
As a footy fan, I understand both perspectives. For those who favor finite margins and want everything precise, I get it-especially if it benefits your team. There's no arguing whether the ref is right or wrong if the call is accurate down to the millimeter. On the other hand, I also understand those who advocate for looser rules. In most, if not all, circumstances, being an inch offside doesn't significantly affect the outcome. A new offside rule is set to be implemented ahead of the coming season. According to this new ruling, a player will only be considered offside if they have an unfair advantage over defenders when receiving the ball. This means that a significant portion of the player's body must be ahead of the line when the final ball is played. The new rule will be tested in the Netherlands, Italy, and Sweden during the 2023/24 season before being rolled out in other countries, possibly from the 24/25 season onward. To me, this will be very interesting to see how it works out. I think it's the best of both worlds.
Cleo is brilliant, love her channel and great interview! I hope you all are able to collab more, you all are fantastic together!!
Cleo is so fun! I'm glad you've been doing so many videos together.
One of the best conversations between creators I've seen / heard in a while
Great ep! Cleo's stuff is great, always a treat.
Cleo is absolutely wonderful! We need more journalists like her - optimistic, smart, professional, charismatic.
44:56 This is 100% the feeling I get whenever I see Cleo pop up on my feed
Always look forward to each ep of Waveform - many thanks for making such great content!
So inspiring! Love both Marques and Cleo and hope you’ll have more collabs in the near future 😊
⚠Typo Error at 0:12:19 -- It should read "What is the 'huge IF true' element?" and NOT "What is the 'huge IS true' element?"
Is it possible to correct it post publication?
A very good discussion. Let's get more guests...
👍
I usually am not a fan of the shows when there are guests, but she is amazing…
I have never watched a waveform video from start to finish. Thank you Marques for having Cleo over. Really got a lot out of this.
Insightful conversation. Good to hear from two of the best creators discussing their processes and motivations
Love the talent and passion and hard work you both have. Please keep doing what you're doing!
both are inspiring
This was a great show....thanks for the content and info....keep up the great work
19:10 "There's sort of a joy in transferring the knowledge that you've acquired as effectively as possible. Like there's a little bit of an art to the language of someone asking you a simple question, and you have thousands of data points and experiences and information that you could give them, and you need to condense it all into something that actually accurately gives them a picture of what you wanted to say, and I think the explainers are the the best version of that for me. Where like I just lived for a year with this really niche product, and there are a bunch of different ways of thinking about how good or bad it is, let me deliver that in a way that you'll actually feel what I feel about it. Yeah, that's the best feeling for me in video." 🔥🔥🔥
Since I'm thinking a lot about this in my own work and TH-cam strategy.
Wonderful episode!!!
Congratulations on the typing test win!!!❤
Machine learning has EXCELLENT application in highly repetitive tasks that have stable data sets to train them on - but struggle when nuance or variability are common factors. An old professor of mine who pioneered machine translation told me he initially thought that computers would do all translation in his life time. After a few users of working with machine learning he said he changed his mind and that translators would be replaced at the same time as doctors, lawyers, writers, politicians and every other job. Machine Learning (AI) can "save us" if we use the tool to do jobs the tool is good at. If we keep using it to justify rent hikes or health care coverage denial, well it just might be the death of us.
I imagine it will be a bit of both as the most likely scenario. But it will be increaseing levels of extremes on both ends of that decision.
Nuance is just linked logic pathways.
It was great that these two were on the same Podcast. this was a great insight into the mind of Cleo Abram
Don’t know how and why I didn’t Know Cleo before this,But enjoyed this episode immensely and look forward to catching more of her content. Thanks for sharing as always and so love this Podcast. And the Whole Team.💯✌️
Randomly found Cleo through her F1 video. Love keeping up with her content now. Cool to see her here!
Heard the podcast, but had to come here and see the interaction between these two! Awesome
Her content is so awesome, and it's such a breath of fresh air to have smart content.
Thank you Cleo, Marques and behind the scenes guys! Raza =)
What a breath of fresh air listen to knowledgeable woman then Adam and pleasant to listen to.😊
You two are big already. But you are both going to be so much bigger. i can't wait to see you both progress over the coming years.
This was very insightful, thank you.
you 2 are 2 perfect leaders of how content alignment should follow
Excellent interview. Very cool to hear your perspectives.
God, I’m so glad this wasn’t an 1h long conversation about the algorithm, thank you!
