- Canada’s highest award for valour was created three decades ago but has never been awarded. Many modern Canadian soldiers have shown courage in the presence of the enemy. Here are a few.

Thank you for publishing this. Please do more to honour the Canadian Armed Forces.
Thank you, for reporting on this.
Our government has to recognise our nation's heroes.
People wonder why no one is joining Canada's military?
Thank you 🫂💗
Thank you.
Canadians stand with/for our military.
No they don't - they sit back and let the government refuse to award the VC to our deserving service people. Its bloody shameful.
@@NCMA29 I hear ya! I think that also stems from what side of the isle voters/socialites are on. From where I, and many others stand, our military must be treated with utmost respect, honour, and dignity. God bless each and every one of them.
@@lregey I appreciate the sentiment, being a Reserve RCN officer myself. That might be why my frustration is so intense, seeing my brothers (and sisters) in arms not receiving their due recognition. I have written the PM, the MoND and my MP on this matter multiple times. They no longer even bother to have one of their minions reply.
What is wrong with this country?
@@NCMA29 Thank you for all that you do
Thanks for bringing the enemy here, Ottawa.
If only the rest of Canada, our politicians and the main stream media were aware of the accomplishments and sacrifices of these individuals. Unfortunately, they will fade into ignominy.
YOU DISPLAYED THE WRONG MEDAL.
DO THESE MEN RIGHT!
Looks like the Canadian VC to me. How is it the wrong medal?
The point of the video is that each and every one of these men is DESERVING of the VC, not just the bloody Star of Military Valour. Our government is too damned parsimonious to award the VC to anybody, no matter how deserving.
@@NCMA29 What the h*ll do you mean, "How is it the wrong medal!?" What is it with you people? Whatever you _feel_ they deserve is irrelevant. The fact is they were awarded the SMV. And so what, you over lay a VC because you _feel_ they deserve it? How about an Olympic silver medalist? Would you overlay a gold because you _felt_ they should have gotten it?
This was a stupid report, with terrible research, and NOWHERE does it state that they overlaid the VC because they _FELT_ that they deserved it. What exactly is going on in your little brain? You never served a day in your life, did you..?
The VC is a big deal. It should be awarded immediately. Its nice to change the standards now and rick hilliar is softening in his old age but really? These troops are heros but don't just give VCs 10 years after a conflict is over. Thats embarrassing for the CAF, and also the VC. The medal of valor is a very highly regarded medal.
Ask them if they even want a VC first.
Disagree. Totally. The US has handed out over 400 Medals of Honour since WWII. Does anybody respect it less for that? Canada has decorated ZERO Canadians in the last 79 years - that's 11 prime ministers. The damned VC ought to be awarded as frequently as it is deserved, each and every goddamned time. It will never lose its status, just because some desk-bound, pencil-pushing civil servants think our sailors, soldiers and aviators aren't deserving. This country is so cheap that if you look up "parsimonious" in the dictionary, you'll find a picture of a maple leaf.
There's no time limit to awarding a VC. If our government NEVER awards it, then what's the bloody point of keeping it? The Yanks have awarded over 400 Medals of Honour since WWII (to Canada's ZERO VCs), yet find one person who will tell you it has lost it's prestige and power to impress because of that.
If anything, MORE VCs should be handed out in future, not fewer. Otherwise, what's the point of decorating our service people for heroism and valour?
"Star of Military Valour", and yet you overlay a pic of the much cherished and respected Victoria Cross.
The VC has been a part of Canada's heritage since the country came into being. Anti-monarchists decided we needed our OWN medal. Sorry, no slight on these heroic men, but don't tell me any of them weren't disappointed they didn't win the VC. Regiments are positively _tribal_ in their praise of their VC winners. Disappointing report.
The overlay is of the newer Cdn version of the Victoria Cross and the whole point of the article is that it has never been awarded despite field commanders recommending it on a number of occassions.
@@lylemacdonald6672 NOWHERE does it imply that they were recommended for the VC and instead received the SMV. How is this the point of the article? And besides, THIS is not how it's done! You think this is how you commemorate a soldier's valour? Hey, how about doing one on ME. I received a CD. Feel free to overlay my photo with a VC. That would make me very happy.
This makes absolutely no sense, and is clearly indicative of someone not having done their research. It's like a commemoration of Canadian Olympic silver medal winners and overlaying a gold. Please stop trying to rationalize this error.
We want canada back and our Military. Finnal request get the liberals ndp and bloc gone gone gone please 🥺 I love My country and so the current government has to go to prison. FOR TREASON and all the corruption they have caused..
You know, when people like you make absurd posts like this, it makes the rest of us look like fools. Try to be coherent in your thoughts, please.
Heroes Among Us, that fought for Democracy and against Far-Right Politics...
while in 2024 Pierre Poilievre supports Far-Right Politics, that my Great Uncle fought against in WW2!
These men did not fight for "far right politics" and you clearly have NO idea as to what you're talking about. If you think Pierre is a f@scist, then you've outed yourself as a trendy twit with no understanding of the dynamics of the political arena. I guess you're happy that classes are over for the summer, right?
