Our president right now (Joko Widodo) is legit lit man! He is also a very good leader. He has really been doing great things to our infrastructures and economy. He was a businessman, but unlike Trump he started at the very bottom. He is also unlike our previous presidents who were always from a background of politics or royalty/blue blood. So we feel closer to him because he is part of the people. He goes everywhere, from hip music festivals to the villages in the deepest jungle of Indonesia to check out how everyone's doing. He often goes to places with his bike, hence the stunt motorbike gimmick in the intro. The event shows various traditional dances and folk songs (modernised for the entertainment value), all from our country, plus showing the landscapes and natural wonders we got here (ocean, mountains, etc). And ended with showing the modern elements of our land. The theme of the Asian Games 2018 in Indonesia is Energy of Asia, and we're so proud to be able to show it with this opening ceremony. It’s not a parade but it represented all the cultures that we have in Indonesia because it consists of many ethnic groups. Every provinces speak different languages, have different traditional costumes, have different kind of foods, etc but in daily basis we use our national language called Bahasa Indonesia. Everything involved in opening ceremony were 100% purely Indonesian cultures and all participants in the cultural events were all Indonesian.
From youtube we know that most american don't know anything beyond their country border. The level of awareness of what's going on on this planet has always amazed me.

Fyi the guy was on the motorcycle is the president. And the coreo you saw at the beginning called ratoeh jaroe they only had 1 months or less to practice and it need more than 1000 peoples. And the other dances and songs are describe different culture of indonesia

And its not a parade of different countries but those are what Indonesia have, hundreds of etnics, language with 17000 islands so yeah we have SoOOO many etnics. I know because my daughter was involved as a dancer in the earliest dance, namely the 'saman' from one of the provinces in our country, namely 'aceh' on the northernmost island of Sumatra, Indonesia. We in Indonesia have 17,000 islands, 1,340 tribes, approximately 718 native languages.
